12Kw solar + battery setup. July power bill $630.

We’re with Ecotricity on the eco solar plan. We’re in N Canterbury on Mainpower so daily line fees are stupid, flat rate of 26c for import. Spa pool running on eco mode and feeding a plugin hybrid. How do I make this cheaper or am I just doomed.

Travvl: One Place for Every Trip, No Matter Where You Booked It

I built this app to solve a problem I was personally facing with travel (whether it be a work trip or vacation): trip details end up scattered across a dozen places — flight confirmation in Gmail, hotel booking in a PDF, rental car in some airline's app, dinner reservation in a text thread I can never find again. There is nothing worse than needing to put your hands on a ticket or reference number and not being able to find it. I got tired of it, so I've spent the last while building Travvl — a trip planner that doesn't try to be a booking site. It doesn't want you to book through it. It just wants to hold everything you've already booked, wherever you booked it, and turn it into one clean day-by-day itinerary.

You can add flights, hotels, rental cars, activities, restaurants — whatever — and it organises it all automatically, with a daily dashboard that tells you what's coming up, live flight status, cost tracking, notes, to-do lists, file storage, and (this is the part I'm most excited about) an AI assistant that actually knows who's on your trip — allergies, kids' nap schedules, accessibility needs, bucket list stuff — so recommendations and advice are built for your actual travel party instead of a generic "top 10 things to do" list.

It's currently in closed beta (~30 users) while I iron out the rough edges — at Travvl.pro. If anyone is in the process of planning a trip currently and wants to give it a try, please do sign up and message me here after signing up so that I can give you use of features that will eventually be paywalled.

Which absolute genius decided to remove this merge here outside the football club on Cranford St? Now people in the left lane (which is now unmarked) try to cross Westminster and end up almost rear-ending parked cars and need to suddenly merge. So stupid.

This is a dumb change that only works for locals who know the road ahead.

Netzero Solar Estimates

Had our solar + Powerwall installed Feb and just looking at the year-to-date stats on Netzero app. The red dots are the estimates This makes it look like solar will drop off in December and then increase again in January. Is this just weirdness in the app? Anyone else see similar?

Contact sensor deleted in middle of night

I recently bought an outdoor hue light that I wanted to automate to turn on when a door, where I had an existing Aqara contact sensor, is opened at night. I started building the automation and found that the sensor was no longer in Apple Home, and was no longer in the Aqara app. it was just… gone.

So I re-added it and built the automation, and all was well for a few days. Then last night, I woke up at 4:30am to the sound of my M2 Hub announcing “accessory deleted”. Sure enough, I checked the app and the sensor was gone again.

I am on the only person with access to the app, and everyone else in the house was asleep. Anyone else had this happen??

Ring video description says a “raccat” was seen in my garden, but a raccat is a fictional creature made up in a reddit post

Maybe my expectations are too low but this is the cleanest TPU print I’ve had so far, I’m kind of in love with it

Skirting around panels - anyone have this?

watching videos about solar on YouTube I see a lot of overseas content where the panels are mounted with these skirts. I really like the look, but have never seen them used in NZ. Is it a cost thing? regulatory? anyone have these or know why they’re not really seen in NZ?

It’s the look, isn’t it? Gotta look like they dominate the road with their Ranger on the way home.
