How to confront my coworker after I rejected him?

My coworker came back to work after his shift ended while I was closing alone and asked me to drinks and dinner and I said no. It’s very obvious he likes me and I’m not in the slightest interested in him at all. I treat everyone at work the same. I’ve also never ran into this issue.

He had asked me about my weekend last week and I very intentionally brought up how I’m seeing this man, we are dating, and things have been going well. He has been EXTREMELY cold to me ever since. Working in a different office, falling asleep at his desk, rude and condescending when I ask him for help, I have to repeat myself 2-3 times because he ignores me. It’s so obvious it’s starting to scare me. While my manager was away, he had asked me to watch a movie with him in this dark conference room alone and I said no I’m going to get lunch. So many instances of him borderline harassing me and showing me interest and I keep having to reject him. It’s very annoying and stressful - I would ideally like to continue this job through grad school and move up in the company.

He claims his attitude is due to “keto flu” but I can tell he’s extremely immature and that’s obviously a lie. I’ve spoken to my manager but I don’t think he gets it. How should I confront this coworker of mine directly?

Lost appetite 1.5 months after break up?

Hey just wanted to see if this was common.

The first couple weeks after my break up with my ex, I was kind of numbingly eating snacks like crazy. It’s been about a month and a half, and now I have no appetite.

Nothing tastes right, my appetite will spike mid day and I’ll eat one thing, but then I get super full really easily? I’m not sure if this is normal.

Any food suggestions / recs on how to get through this/the break up in general? I’ve been trying to grieve/cry/spend time with friends and get myself out but it’s all been so painful.

How do I get over this break up?

My heart aches. Three weeks ago, my partner broke up with me saying our relationship would not work as he is trying to pursue this MD PhD program. He is 29 about to be 30m and I’m 28f.

When he brought things up initially I had doubts in knowing this will be time consuming, exhausting, and essentially all of my thirties will be lonely and spent supporting him through this.

I brought up things like a plan b to all of this and he got so upset with me. He said he needed me to believe in him. I was uncomfortable because he is quitting his job, will be taking classes, and clinical shadowing for the next 1-1.5 years as he gets ready to apply. His parents are extremely well off, and mine are doing fine too, I just wanted to make sure he had a plan in the event a. He doesn’t get in b. He doesn’t like it or c. He flunks out.

Mind you, we have been together almost 3 years. When I brought up marriage last December he said he loved me, was sure at one point, then started having doubts due to the way we handled stress. He has a toxic work situation & we faced an extremely stressful year where my mom almost died having a stroke.

In March I asked again. This time he said “I love you, but I don’t know if I can be with you”. At that point, I knew something was really wrong, but I didn’t want to admit it. Deep denial. So anxious. But he is the most loving man I have ever met. My confusion sent me through the roof. I felt like if he was asking me to commit to this huge 8-10 year program, he should commit seriously to me. He said “I’m applying to programs in the area” and that “he wanted to get there”, but that isn’t enough. I wanted a solid, serious, conversation. I was not about to go into this as a girlfriend without a plan of being his wife.

And now here we are. I’m just devastated and heart broken and need advice on how to get through this. I’ve never lived with any partner before and truly thought he was the one. He is moving out on Saturday, and I’m embarrassingly scared, anxious, and feel so confused and hurt.

He said he wants to be with me but won’t be able to show up how I need. He said he needs to do this, and I don’t want to stop him. Any gentle advice or perspective helps.❤️

How to heal from break up caused by incompatibility?

My partner (30m) and I (28f) recently broke up due to incompatibilities of where we see our future. He wants to pursue an 8-10 year MD PhD program. I don’t want to stop him because this is his dream, thought I was so hesitant to hold on because I wanted us to work out.

I know I won’t be able to support him emotionally, mentally or financially through all of that. I know I would be very alone, he would be busy all the time as it’s extremely time consuming, and I would miss out on potentially having kids/the support I’d like through that, traveling, weekends, etc.

Any gentle advice on how to get through this is greatly appreciated 🫶

Partner is leaving me to pursue MD PhD

My Heart Feels Shattered

My heart feels absolutely broken and I’m devastated. My partner of almost three years broke up with me on Monday.

For context: he (m29) is a good person, and I want to believe that, but I (f28) feel like he misrepresented himself when we first met and is turning out to be unstable. When we first met, he had said he wanted to do a PhD and I thought that was fine. He has a BS in chemical engineering from one of the most prestigious universities on the planet and really does not need to get more education. I initially admired his drive, but it seems like he has too much ambition now, and is trying to prove something to himself like he’s not good enough.

In December, I asked him if he saw himself marrying me (at the 2 year mark), and he told me “I was so sure about marrying you, but this year things changed, and now I’m having doubts. I wanted to break up with you around March/April but didn’t bring it up because of trauma that happened with your family.”My mom had a stroke and nearly died. Through that I felt lost, devastated, and very traumatized. I felt like he was my rock, I was so deeply stressed. I felt extremely blind sided knowing he wanted to break up with me during that time having those thoughts without talking to me about that at all. He brought up these feelings to me only once we had this conversation 9 months later. I lost so much trust.

In March, we revisited the conversation. I was told “I ask questions I don’t want the answer to”. He said “I love you but I’m not sure I can be with you”. We resolved things and said we could try to continue to make things work.

My family is letting us stay in their rental property free of charge. This was to help us for our future and allow us the ability to comfortably go to school. I viewed this as a very serious step and sign that we were solid.

He mentioned around February he wanted to now do an MD PhD. This will be 8 (maybe more) years of school, long hours, less time with each other, and extremely time consuming. I felt so much fear and anxiety around this because our foundation is not stable - he said he wants to be with me, and that all will be fine, he applied to schools in the area, but never made any firm commitment about marriage or engagement. I feel like anyone would be anxious with those previous conversations and then their partner bringing up a program that will last almost their entire 30s.

Fast forward to now, and he’s saying he has to pursue this MD PhD and we cant be together because it won’t work as I was anxious whenever he brought it up. He told me I was unsupportive, and when I mentioned back up options to the program to be safe, he told me I was unsupportive and how that upset him deeply like I didn’t believe in him. On top of all of this, my Grandma’s celebration of life is this Saturday and he knew this.

He has said really hurtful things, I’m sure I have too, but this is exactly what I was afraid of. When I told him I could change and support him in ways he needs, he said it was too late. I feel absolutely devastated and have no idea what to do.

Should I put in a notice for this job?

think I already know the answer, but would like others input.

I recently started a position full time 2 days ago (38 hours a week) as an Assistant Manager at this company. I’m noticing some serious issues about certain policies that I obviously have no control over.

#1 - i’m in a management position but they will not pay for my parking / allow me a parking pass. Not super unusual, but being full time I thought they would have paid for my parking so I don’t have to use meter parking for 8 hours a day. I will have to be using the metro which is $5 a day for the ticket and $5 a day to park my car so $50 a week just to get there

#2 - I work full time and do not have any benefits, most significantly, health insurance. For full time employees like myself, they recommend a state health insurance/medicaid and said they will reimburse up to $250 a month. That $250 will be added to my paycheck so I will eventually be paying more taxes due to that increase on my paycheck. The job advertised benefits and insurance and now i’m finding that’s not the case…

#3 - Really low pay (commission is like $00.50 a sale, weird hours, and “40 touch points a day required” (try to make 40 sales or reach out to 40 past customers to try to get them into our programs

#4 - shady policies - this is a fitness place (i’ll just be honest it’s orange theory). we charge $15 for no shows for the most premium account members, $30 for no shows for people trying FREE sessions, and if people arrive quite literally 5 mins after session starts so 6-7 mins after, we deny them of class…could be a real issue

#5 - my manager was told she could use her PTO for next week only for our franchise owner to actually say she won’t be able to. When my manager returns from her trip she will be working 8 days in a row to recover financial costs lost due to this mix up.

i’m going to grad school in the fall and thought this could be a good opportunity, but now i’m having second thoughts. should i stick it out or just find a part time gig and tell this place goodbye?
