Can anyone explain something to me please… *DT SPOILERS*

Hey fellow CR’s. I was wondering if someone could explain the significance of the pop culture references, particularly in the Wolves of the Calla.

Why do things such as sneetches (snitches) and the Dr Doom cloaks belong in mid-world?
Is it foreshadowing the fact that this is all a story and the author SK is influenced by or drawing on pop culture? Or is it saying that Harry Potter / Dr Doom are ‘real’ people in this version of the world? I’m sure there’s other references besides these two but I can’t think of any right now.

So if this is a dumb question, I feel like I might be missing something haha

Also bonus question, why was the incredibly powerful and incredibly evil lord of darkness the Crimson King just yeeting sneetches at Roland instead of using spells or sorcery or whatever.

Don’t get me wrong I love these books so much it hurts a little, this isn’t a dig at the books I’m just a bit confused.

Thanks team!!

Say Thankya

I finished book 7 of the The Dark Tower series about an hour ago, and holy shit. So good. After thinking about it for a bit I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to this subreddit.

I posted about 6 months ago about how I was midway through The Gunslinger and not really feeling it as much as I wanted to, and you guys told me to stick with it. I’ve also stayed active on the sub and got absolutely zero DT spoilers the whole time while reading the series.

You yeah you guys rule, the Dark Tower rules, SK rules, and Oy’s the best.

The $ I’ve spent on this shit is so demoralising

Hey team, I’m lucky enough to join your community (yay me) at the age of 33, after never having TOO much of a problem with eczema before.

Basically at the start of the year I’ve gotten pretty severe eczema that I feel like has taken over my life in a way. I say this because there’s rarely a waking minute that goes past without me thinking about it.

The main point of my post is that I’ve spent $210 on a dermatologist who saw me for 5 minutes and then gave some cream that did nothing, then waited 8 weeks+ to see him again. The second time he charged me another $210 just to tell me that there’s nothing he can do and I’ll have to spend up to $1000+ on skin patch testing. And if that doesn’t work I’ll have to pay him for lifelong injections. Does this sound suss to you guys, or is this standard?

The money I’ve dropped on this shit is out of control, and that’s not even mentioning creams, steroids and everything else.

Anyone else have the same story, or has anyway got it worse? Also if anyone is hiding a miracle one size fits all cure for this shit, pls let me know!
