2nd time through actually finishing this time
First time I read through this about 5 years ago I got to the scene where Eddie dies. I have never in my life had such a visceral negative reaction to a book. I completely dropped it. I was too pissed off. Well I picked it back up a week ago after finishing the expanse and was looking around for something epic, decided to go back in and complete it this time. About 3/4 thru the wastelands and I’m so excited to have got back into this. It’s such an utter work of genius. I’m just hoping to finally get to the end.
Am I late to the party?
I’ve been meaning to give this series a go for a while now, just picked up the first 2 books
Magritte's Le Savior (1961) | The Drawing of the Three
I felt like Magritte's Le Savior (1961) is a fitting image for The Drawing of the Three!
Could Jack Sawyer hypothetically replace Father Callahan for the DT tv show?
Given Flanagan’s comments about Callahan potentially being swapped with another character due to rights issues, and with the last Talisman book coming out in a few months, what do we all think about Jack Sawyer hypothetically replacing him? This is of course just going by the first two Talisman books, obviously we have no idea what’ll happen in Other Worlds Than These.
I was just thinking how if whichever network or streaming service airing the DT show does an adaption of the Talisman books as sort of a spinoff to build up the DT tv universe, this could be a great way of tying the two shows together more directly. Plus idk this might be a way for the network or streaming execs to keep the franchise more strictly/familiarly fantasy?
JS - like Callahan - has an established background of flipping between realities and fighting the Crimson King’s forces. After a whole Talisman tv show too where we’ve followed Jack’s story, audiences will probably have a much deeper attachment to Jack than they ever would be able to have with Callahan
The approaching Talisman book has me thinking about the series again. And rhyming . . .
Outside the Tower, on his throne, the crimson king sits all alone.
With magic fading, schardik dead, the universe is painted red.
Should Sombra rise and roses Wilt, the line of Eld will bear the guilt.
Deny Discordia, raise up your head, our heroes come, they deal in lead.
i drew a dixie pig logo and im gonna plaster it everywhere(i based the pig on the king

If you want to talk about "political" things and not get posts/comments deleted. If you actually want to be able to discuss the real world horrors that we deal with everyday outside of the books, and the political topics discussed in many stephen king books.
Just finished my first journey to The Tower
It’s 2:26 am, I’ve just finished reading Book 7 after starting the series towards the end of last year.
I love it, utterly. I cried a bunch throughout this series. I’m content with the ending.
But one thing I want to delve into further - what was with all the pop culture references that didn’t seem to have much explanation or reason. Dr Doom wolves, Harry Potter “sneetches”, The Wizard of Oz emerald castle..
Why were certain elements borrowed so heavily from other works of fiction? SK himself in the books being a “scribe” of Gan or a vessel for the story - yea sure, but SK in the books, didn’t dictate the story - he just wrote what was already taking place or what he heard/saw from Gan/the beam. So why would other fiction bleed so heavily into Roland’s story? Into Mid/End World etc?
I’ve read a fan theory tonight that North Central Positronics took inspiration from their visits to different timelines and their view or pop culture. Which is a cool idea.
What are other people’s thoughts?
“Song” of Susannah
2 hours into book 6 when I realized it’s constantly rhyming. Love this series.
It's the beginning of the end
I started this journey in January, I'm not ready for it to be over yet
The Gunslinger
My partner read the book and had this to say, hard to convince her to continue her journey to the tower. I wish she had found the tower the same way I had but alas I don't think she'll find Sai King to her liking
Struggling With Book 4 (Wizard & Glass)
Man, I just do not care about this love story between Roland and Susan. The amount of pages dedicated to the will they/wont they stuff has made this book a slog. Especially after all I've been through with Eddie, Jake and other Susan I just want to get back to some dystopian adventures. I'm about halfway through and it seems like something is about to happen with some oil tankers or something but I just wanted to vent.
for those of you in areas with fireworks this weekend, remember the face of your fathers and that some throcken are afraid of fireworks so keep them! fourth of july is the most common day for pets to run away so be vigilante!!!!
How common/costly is this edition? (UK)
Hey. I’m currently reading The Dark Tower series for the first time and absolutely loving it, this world that King has created is truly phenomenal (I don’t know if I’m currently qualified to say this as I’m only on Waste Lands at the moment but that’s not what this post is about).
I typically read a lot of fiction adventure/fantasy, philosophy and classics and found The Dark tower series because an old coworker gifted me the first two books in the series, thank goodness they did.
Since then I’ve managed to pickup all of the other books in the series from Vinted (all Larry Rostant illustrated) with the exception of Wind Through the Keyhole. I more than definitely will be getting to the end of this series regardless of what it brings and upon doing some research found out that this is essentially a 4.5th book in the series despite being the 8th in chronological time order.
With the book I’m looking for coming out much more recently, I don’t believe that there is a Larry Rostant illustration of it as I like to collect my books would get a copy like this if it existed (please correct me if I’m wrong).
With this, I looked online to see which cover/copy I liked best and would like to get knowing it would be an outlier from my other copies of the series. There are some lovely copies but most are a bit too sort of modern looking for me and the one that caught my eye can be seen attached.
I really like this cover and was a bit disheartened to learn that it was a limited edition hardback which leads me to believe it’s either going to be incredibly tough to find or very expensive or both.
If that’s the case, that’s okay, I’ll just get another copy - please feel free to recommend your favourites of Wind Through the Keyhole. But if not, does anyone know where I could get a copy of this and how much it will run me?
I love the simplistic art style and general design.
Thank you.
rereading book 7 for the umpteenth time... getting near the end so I drew a happy scene...
Why didn't Susannah... (final book question)
Before she walks through the door to New York and says goodbye to Roland, Oy and Patrick. Why not get Patrick to draw her with legs? I thought she would love that, after the Mia experience.
Ya say true, I say thank ya
Found this in my meme archive, felt like it belonged here.
Not a bad haul for FB marketplace
Missing some still but this filled a lot of gaps. My quest to get all the comics is coming to a close!
