Geneva train crossing to France sector

We are arriving on a train from Zurich and need to get to the car rental on the French side.

  1. We are flying into Zurich that morning, will customs let us walk into the French side (the website says boarding pass from that day but doesn’t specify it has be to Geneva!).
  2. if not, are taxis readily available that can take us over to the French side?
    Thanks!

What's your next car? (2023 leases...)

Love love love my iX. Driving dynamics, front and rear space (love the center console gap!), tech, trunk space...everything. Adaptive regen is the GOAT driving mode. My lease is done at the end of the year.

Sat in an iX3 and did not love it - i hate HUD so having the constant line of LEDs in my field of view is not great. Seating feels much lower, more like a crossover. Backseat is tighter, and not as much room to spread out in the front. And of course, despite it being 30k lower MSRP there won't be any discounts at first and it'll lease terribly I'm sure - not sure I want to spend 800-900/mo on this .

So...unless I find a well-priced used iX when my lease is up...what's next?

Lucid gravity looks like a great car but the company is a mess and customer service seems awful.

Cadillac Vistiq is a possibility, but test drive didn't excite. It also does not have adaptive regen, which I love in the iX.

Rivian R2? Maybe?

Systems for tight space for air handler?

Our 2nd/3rd floor blower is installed in a very tight space, we currently have a 20-year old Ruud system with a shorty air handler. One contractor gave us a quote on basically just swapping out for a newer Ruud system. It would be 13 seer, single stage, pretty simple. I'd love to have a more efficient system, preferably with 2-stage or variable - are there any brands that make systems that are built for a tight space but have some of the more modern features?

In theory we could move the air handler location but it would involve a massive amount of new ductwork, we'd lose a closet, etc - I was quoted about 20k just for ductwork/labor for moving the location.

Thanks!

Possible to upgrade ticket booked with United miles?

Booked an economy ticket jfk-Gva using United miles. I’d like to upgrade it to Business, is this possible to do before arriving at the airport? From what I understand bidding for upgrade is not possible but I’d probably pay the cash offer if it’s reasonable (like 1k area). If I can’t upgrade in advance I will just cancel as I have a connecting option already booked (and cancellable) on another airline, I just need to figure out what terminal to go to and when to leave for the airport…..

Applying awards to existing reservations

Wanted to put my experience here. I am not a power-user so I was barely aware of the changes, and I didn't realize that, in theory, GOH awards would reprice an award stay. I just called in to apply two GOH to stays I already had booked. Ironically my friend transferred the awards the day before the reval but I've been too busy to call...

The first - Park Hyatt Vendome - surprisingly did not reprice at all, despite being a peak summer stay. Not sure why but I didn't complain. No issue.

The second - Hyatt Regency Aruba - this one did reprice, but the agent said they just add extra points into my account to get up to the required points, and then redo the booking. If I ever cancel the stay, the extra points get taken back. I didn't have to escalate or anything, this seems to be SOP at this point.

Very happy to see this isn't an issue.

Is BMWFS allowing pull-ahead?

My iX lease comes up in December. Obv no equity on it since these cars depreciate much more than the lease residuals. I realize I basically need to roll now or in the next month or two if I want to get a new or loaner, since nothing will be around by December. Has anyone had luck doing this?

2026 non-multifunction seats vs 2024 multifunction

Looking at turning in my 24 and grabbing one of the last 26s around. The one I found has everything I want except the executive package/multifunction seats. I don't care about the seat memory as I'm the only driver, but is the seat itself the same? Is there any lumber support? I'm in the minority in that I actually find the 2024 seats quite comfortable for me.

(To answer the obvious question, this car is not near me and I can't find a similar car to sit in before I have to pull the trigger). Thanks!

Can these trusses be rebuilt to allow me to turn the air handler 90 degrees? We need to replace it but the newer units are too long to fit. The crawlspace here is super deep but the way the trusses are built it clearly wouldn't work. Thanks!
