Plex music on your Apple Watch: Wristrax is now live in the iOS App Store!

Hi all,

I'm very happy to announce that Wristrax has finally made it through Apple's App Store review. Sometimes it felt like developing the app was the easy part – but it's finally live.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wristrax/id6758014508

I'm super grateful for everyone here testing, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements. Due to the delays caused by the App Store review I included many of your suggestions in the first release. Thos who actively contributed will get a Thank You-gesture in their email in the next days

For those who missed my previous posts:
Wristrax is an iOS and WatchOS app that lets' you access your Plex Music, download specific albms and playlists to your phone and sync them to your Apple Watch for offline playback. Great for running, the gym, or anywhere else where you want your music but not your phone.

Feature highlights:

- supports server, home user and library selection

- connect to servers locally or remotely

- you can keep a larger selection of tracks on your phone than on your watch so you can change the watch content offline, too.

- transcoding to save space or leave tracks as is

- follow changes to playlists for incremental updates

- Apple Watch double tab gesture controls for pause and playback

- uses Plex API and Plex authentication, so no user data processing

Commercial Model:

You can try Wristrax for free, it allows downloading and syncing of the first 3 tracks of one Album or Playlist.

If you like it, you can unlock Wristrax for unlimited tracks for an annual subscription or a lifetime license.

File transfer to Apple Watch

Syncing tracks via Bluetooth is slow and opaque due to Apple's limitations. The best way to transfer tracks is to temporarily turn off Bluetooth on your Watch to force its connection to Wifi before you start the sync process. This significantly improves the transfer speed. Use transcoding to reduce file size to improve transfer times further.

Requirements:

Apple Watch 6th Gen+, iOS 17+ due to SwiftDB

Outside cat 1, Chiquita nil

Apparently some life lessons have to be learned and can’t be taught. Even at almost 13.

For example that outside cats don’t enjoy being sniffed at or tasted. Double punch, bloody nose. She didn’t scream and came back looking misunderstood.

Luckily it hasn’t affected the relationship with Starlord, her own cat.
