A lot of this lore comes from quake wars and then adding in the newer stuff we heard in awakening
The initial set up of how the strogg actually take over a lot of earth and capture millions it’s why the GDF are attacking on more maps than defending. They are scrambling to save civilians from medical processing, salvaging strogg tech, and fighting back.
The GDF also have the ability to study strogg tech as they were unable to decompose quickly and the GDf realize that hitting them by destroying the medical facilities and processing plants can stop the strogg.
It also mentions the GDF being able to reverse engineer slipgate tech which explains the technological bump up by Quake 2, and the fact they go to Stroggos was to save millions of POWs captured during the initial invasion of Earth...
New lore from the awakening mentions that the strogg had been extensively experimenting on live captives to perfect human stroggification as apparently it used to be lethal
Quake champions had mentioned during Quake 4 they were in a massive war against the Greiss (the lizard people) and had attacked earth for a quick harvest on resources but didn’t realize humans would fight back so easily
Okay now if we got rules to make special squads again I wouldn’t mind it but I don’t want like “Chogorian Umacessors” where it’s goofy giant horses with marines riding them.
I think the white scars have that perfect niche of mostly renaming roles for rules like Khan for captain or stormseer for librarian and at most would need rule additions and not Flanderized units
