Estate sale of a cat lady!

The pillows came home with me for $5 (on 50% off day) 🥰 These were all from the same estate sale, and there were still more cat items than I could remember to capture! Surprisingly, the house still didn’t give me a “crazy cat lady” vibe. There were plenty of non-cat-themed items. Cats were definitely her thing, though!

Cat sword letter opener + dollhouse with a kitty peeking in!

I’ve been wanting a letter opener but haven’t found one till now, and I’m glad because this is perfect!! It has the design on both sides, slightly asymmetrical but it gives it extra charm. The tin dollhouse has a cat peeking through the window from the outside, and if you look carefully, you can see it from the inside, too 🥰 I love all the details on it; there’s also a bird on the roof, which the sticker covered. The dollhouse says it’s from 1988 but I have no idea about the letter opener, I can’t find anything similar on google.

‘94 Airplane Ticket Receipt

Found the passenger receipt of a 1994 airplane ticket inside a book! It was at a Dallas thrift store—looks like Frances came back home but never finished her plane read.

I didn’t take pictures, but in another book from the same pile I found 3 copies of a bookstore bookmark that was from around 1986 (based on how many locations the bookmark said they had at the time). Also, not a bookmark, but I recently found a Sear’s card in a thrift jacket, too! I didn’t buy any of the items these were in, so I left them behind for someone else to enjoy 😊

[TOMT] [Show] Game show where guests guess the context of a number

I saw a compilation of 1 particular guy in the show on Instagram a while back, and I want to find what that show was now (don’t care about the actual video).

It was a game show, probably a panel show specifically, though I’m not entirely sure if it was actually in the UK or if it was US. The clipped episode(s) were likely from the 2020s, possibly 2010s, so it seems that the show is probably still going on. It wasn’t just random contestants on the show, it was known names (probably comedians). The guests sat behind a counter/table/whatever, and a big screen would show a number and the guests would guess what the context behind the number was. Ex. screen says “4,000” and the answer would be “how many people Jesus fed with loaves and fish”, though they would discuss it first and riff off with silly answers. (The numbers sometimes also had units listed, like “lbs” or “minutes” or “people” but you still needed to find what it applied to) That might have only been one section of the show, though, and the rest was slightly different, I don’t know.

[TOMT][TV] A child is kidnapped and their parent searches for them

I remember my parents watching this when I was a kid in the early- or mid-2010s, USA. I’m fairly certain it was an episode of a TV show, and from how I remember it looking, it likely came out in the 2010s or maybe 2000s. It was probably TV-14 or even MA—not appropriate for my age but they let me stay up and I saw some of it anyway while I did other stuff.

In the show, a child is kidnapped/goes missing, and they have one parent (90% it was the mom) that is desperately searching for them. There’s a scene that I believe is the end of the episode: the camera shows a street with cars and there’s a bleak coloring to everything (probably the whole show was colored like this, a dystopian sort of theme) as the camera rises, and then I think credits roll. There might have even been someone standing on a car in that shot?? Or a car wreck or something? I think this was the pilot episode of the show, and it was setting this up as the big mystery/plot of the series: what happened to the kid, and (how) is the mom going to find them?

I don’t know why I have this particular memory, and I don’t think I saw any more of the show. I just remember this bit + the specific way the UI looked at the time for the streaming service this was on—which was probably Amazon, or maybe Roku or Netflix. I always thought the show was called “Taken” or something similar in reference to the kid being kidnapped, but this definitely isn’t the movie titled such, and from what I can find it doesn’t look like it’s the series or miniseries also with that name. My memory is mostly a visual one, so if I could find the scene I’m thinking of then I would probably know it when I see it.

Which room do I put a new cat in at first, with my limited available space?

I am planning on getting my first cat soon-ish, like within the year hopefully, and have started to think (worry) about all the logistics. My main mental hurdle right now is this: I would like to put the new cat in its own room at first, not just so that it can chill and get used to the new situation, but also so it can have a slow introduction with my dog. But I live in a little duplex with my mom, with no second bathroom or other "extra" room for the cat to be in out of the way. So where should I put them?

  1. The only bathroom. It's probably as small as a bathroom gets, not a whole lot of wiggle room. My idea would be that everything that can be moved taken out/locked up (toiletries, shower curtain, everything), and the litterbox is placed in the tub (could/would a cat use it there even?? there's no other space for it in there that would also give us room to move). Then we'd have to just use the bathroom sparingly; if the tub needs to be used during that time, hopefully the cat could temporarily go in their carrier or they'd get the opportunity to explore a new room under someone else's supervision. But would a new cat be okay with us still using the toilet and sink with them in there??
  2. My bedroom. Theoretically (if needed for cat's comfort), I could sleep on the couch and give them my room for this period. The thing is, I'm fearful of leaving a brand new cat with my things without full supervision; ideally this would be the last room they'd be in just now, as I'm more attached to the stuff in my room than in the rest of the house. So I would probably need to move practically everything out of my room to be comfortable for the time being, as I wouldn't know yet whether they would be the sort of cat to chew up random things or get in places I didn't know were accessible and so on (beyond the standard dangerous stuff for cats—those would of course be removed/fixed). Then once I know them better, stuff could be brought out again under supervision and I could make sure nothing bad happens (to cat or object).

So TLDR: Bathroom is small and would still have to be minimally used with cat in it; bedroom would stress *me* out more and need more stuff to be maneuvered.

Neither option is great, but I'm not sure what else I could do. I just want both the new cat and I not to be super stressed, and nothing be destroyed or eaten or otherwise harmed or be harmful. Hopefully I'm just overthinking this and when the time comes, the cat will be totally fine and all my worry will be for nothing!! I've only had a couple of pretty-well-behaved dogs before so my mind just goes to worst-case scenario. Looking for suggestions on what to do when I eventually do get the cat!!

Ceramic rectangles with two round(ish) holes in each

Saw these at a thrift store—assumed vintage, didn’t think to check for marks (but didn’t notice any), cannot go back for more photos. These four were tied together into a purchasable set but I saw a set of two as well that I didn’t photograph. Some (maybe all? don’t remember) of the rectangles are curved upwards. Half have two big holes, the other two have smaller holes on one end and white decorations (girl and teddy) covering the rest. I think they are ceramic but I could be wrong.

What color would you call my eyes?

Included some solo shots in different lighting. I can never decide what color they are exactly!
