In the Weegar trade we got 3 2nds. One of those 2nds is from NYR so basically a late first
In the Nemec trade we gave up 2 late 1sts and an early 2nd.
So the draft pick value difference can be roughly summed up to changing 2 mid 2nds to early 2nds/late 1sts. You could argue that the difference is made up for by getting Maatta, who can be flipped for more picks, and Castagna, who’s a better prospect than Morin
So basically we turned Weegar into Nemec or something like that haha. BIG stretch but some kind of interesting parallels. Okay I’ll go to sleep now and stop thinking about this crazy day we just had in the NHL haha
I get keeping spots open for the young guys but Lombo is such a good guy for the room, clearly loves it in Calgary and is a fan favorite, even if he’s the 13th forward for most of the season if he’s okay with that role why not keep him? If he was getting scratched on the Flames he’s not going to be an impact guy getting any serious money on any other team. We’re not near a cap crunch and could honestly benefit from overpaying him if it keeps us flexible and without worrying about the cap floor. It makes too much sense man!!!
Just turned 25, had a career best 42 points this season and was very good for Buffalo in the playoffs, former 4th overall pick of Colorado and Stanley Cup Champion. 1 year left until UFA. Obviously a risky move as he can leave for free, but from Western Canada and could play top pair and PP minutes here, and potentially be a very strong long-term partner for Parekh. Not gonna ruin our tank or anything, as we would almost garuenteed be giving up Whitecloud in the deal.
For me, IF AND ONLY IF the price is right, why not? One of the few names on the trade market that has the potential to be a true core piece of the team for now and into the future. What do we think?

Hey yall, looking for a bit of assistance, I got accepted to management Eng for next year, I accepted my offer about a month ago and made my WatIAM account or whatever, but past that I’ve had zero information so far, haven’t been able to access my waterloo email, haven’t been able to apply for residence, nothing. No one seems to be responding to my emails either, other than the official Waterloo help portal who seem unconcerned, but it still seems weird that I haven’t gotten anything when it said in the welcome email that I should get confirmation and be able to apply to residence within 72 hours. Any other future students dealing with the same thing? Is there something I’m missing?
