I created a RomM client for the PS5

I host a Romm server at home to store all my completely legal and self-ripped retro games. It keeps all my games neatly organized, and supports syncing save files and savestates to and from various devices and consoles. This is especially useful since I not only play on multiple systems where it comes in clutch to be able to pull your latest save and then push it back when you're done. It makes traveling for work that much better when I can pull any game from anywhere in the world.

The client runs as a background service on your PS5 and features:
- Syncing your game library and downloading games on the fly from a Romm server
- Detects the folder structure for known emulators and has a flexible sync profiles
- Bi-directional save syncing, all in the background, on save/state changes and periodically
- Shared memory card (Romm 5.3.0+) and per-game memory cards for PS2 and like consoles.

It runs as a background service with a web app you can access on the PS5 or from another computer/device to access the library, settings, etc. I designed it to be simple, easy to use, and relatively set and forget.

Just push the elf file using your favorite payload sender or better yet, add it to autoloader so it loads automatically on jailbreak. You'll see a message the web app is running on your PS5's IP, and the Romm Sync app tile will appear.

Please report any issues through GitHub, but I hope you enjoy using it as much as I am. As always, back up your saves before syncing a device, just in case. Thanks to the community that built such a cool tool like RomM (https://romm.app) as well as all those who made it so we could tell Sony to shove it, and jailbreak these consoles.

Here is the virus total of the ELF file: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/6b778976ebbb3f4872c74fd9f12e9d2a2dd0a177866e21db471738a4aa91a8f3

Quick update: Version 1.0.2 is now out, includes in-app updating, and a few other improvements.

iPod Touch from 2008

Went through my old box of phones and devices, found some real gems including my iPod.

I got this iPod touch new back in 2008, saved all summer for it. Best part? It still works, and after a full charge has held on standby near 30 days and battery is has barely drained.

I’m heartbroken. Diagnosis and Medication disqualify me

I’ve wanted to learn to fly since I was 7 years old. I wanted to be an airline pilot growing up, but when the time came to choose my career path, I took the “safe” route into Computer Science. I was decent at programming having started at a young age, and it guaranteed a good career that I had a leg up in. I didn’t know the best way to approach getting to ATP, but I knew it took a lot of money, which we didn’t have. Military was a no go. In hindsight, there were options, I just didn’t see them.

I started talking flight lessons a few years later to get my PPL. Then COVID came, and there were some extra hoops to jump through being a permanent resident at the time. Everything closed down before I even was told to go get my medical. I loved every second I was up there.

The dream sat for a while until recently. I started looking at everything that I’d need to start up again. I was reading what I needed for my medical, and then I saw it: ADHD is a disqualification and medication for it the same.

ADHD had been a severe burden up until when I was able to get medication and therapy in my early 20s. It was like seeing color for the first time. Now, I either give up taking medication and wait 4 years, and even then, the diagnosis is made already. I don’t want to lie on medical and put myself and others in jeopardy.

I’m just heartbroken now. I’ve never been one to have many set goals, but this was the one that persisted a life time. I can’t give up the meds, even with them I still struggle. I have therapy as well, but that only works so well for me. I have to choose between feeling like a normal person and living a normal life or the dream. I’ve heard there are options, but unlikely.

Anyway, I know this isn’t the typical post here, but maybe you guys can help me see a different perspective or way through. I might just be getting emotional prematurely, but the law seems pretty clear in this regard…
