Question to store owners/lgs employees

We've all seen the ridiculous prices this upcoming set are going for and if you've been in the hobby for more than a set the crazy prices everything since op13 has sold for. I get it if youre a 100% online store and I kinda get it if you had to buy from non distro. But to all store owners and LGS employees in here.

Howc the actual F do yall justify selling to your local community at "market" price? Especially when you are buying from and at distro prices. Like you wouldn't have the distro or the volume if it wasnt for your community so how do ypu justify ripping them off? One local store is actually selling a box to prerelease participants at 90% market that day if they played so still well over 2x msrp and im just sitting here so you just scalpers with a storefront.

So again to owners and employees. How do yall justify it to yourself. Is it just greed? Wanting to appear caring without giving up potential profit from online shipping?

How bad is Saturday expo hall line usually?

Hey all,

Title. If Im wanting to hit specifically Gundam for some of their exclusives how bad is the expo hall typically on Saturdays? Sounds like the Thursday while chaotic had more than expected and from what Ive seen on twitter/discord for today sounds like they had stock for hours. I'd assume if they're smart tomorrow will be similar if not more levels of stock, but given its the first actual weekend day of the con.

How cooked is the line going to be? I see saturday has a lot of panels, but not sure if that will help or hurt. I dont live downtown or wanna pay for that parking so I'd be showing up in like between 6-630 depending on how lucky I am hoping between the 5am trolleys

How to file complaints?

Basically the title. How/what's the best way to file a complaint/feedback regarding the expo hall and a specific panel/booth? Don't normally file official things so not sure what to do. and I need to preface this with a bit of info. For anyone not in the hobby quite literally nearly every TCG is being scalped and or taken advantage of when it comes to new stuff and especially exclusive promo cards.

Anyway yesterday at the Gundam panel in addition to giving away an exclusive card they announced that shortly thereafter they were going to be giving another away at the booth. This cause masses of people to leave and rush their way down to the booth forcing their way past the retail line people and huddling within the actual booth. There was zero control or anything from the people running the booth except walking a mascot by. As more people showed up outside line people started forcing everyone further in to the point it was impossible to turn around or take a step you were litterally standing on top of the person in front of you. At noon they did their little show and then started funneling people through the booth with again zero communication but when the mass moved it moved as one creating multiple tripping hazard and firecode concerns/violations they basically threw the card at people to get them to leave. I have personally never felt more unsafe in a convention than at that point and I have 20 years of cons under my belt.

on a wider scale. What was up with lines in the actual throughfares? Multiple booth across the entire hall people just lining up in the middle of the walkways blocking traffic and the random interviews in the middle. I legitimately don't know how the expo hall wasnt shut down with some of the absolute bottlenecking that was happening and the zero control or concern booth or line people seemed to have.

Does SDCC just not give a rats behind? Were people just not doing their job? Because it was so crazt especially compared to the actual panel lines team

Getting into expo hall what time to lineup?

Hey all, so first time in well over a decade of going to SDCC. I got Thursday tickets and mainly wanna explore the expo hall and try to hit a few booths. I assume they'll be relatively popular for scalpers and in general. So whats a good time to line up?

Does Hilton/Doubletree honor their posted prices?

Hey all, sorry to bother but hoping you guys and gals could offer some insight becuase im a bit confused. So Im planning on staying at a Doubleetree in SLC in December for a convention. First time staying in one, but from what I can see relatively new/remodeled and usually hear good things about this brand. Anyway as part of my reservation it asked if I wanted to include breakfast at $15 a night. I agreed because why not probably just as expensive as anywhere else. But I needed to verify a couple other things so I called the hotel and during my convo asked if this had to be every night or if I could skip it for the last day since I'll have an early flight and miss it.

The front desk agent told me that price is actually wrong and should somehow be nearly doubled to $29/night. So before I cancel this anyway to find out if they're right because thats an expensive AF breakfast and if they somehow are. Does Hilton honor the price they posted and I made my reservation at or would/will I suddenly get a bill for 2x the price?

Visiting SLC in Dec looking for advice

Hey all,

So I'm looking at visiting SLC in december for Dragonsteel Nexus and figured I'd ask the locals for some suggestions and advice on a couple things.

First how is the weather in December? Im used to WA state winters where it'll be really cold, lots of rain and ice, but not too much snow outside of a week or two in feb/march

How is the crime/homelessness in downtown area? Given I wont have a car I'll have to either uber or hoof it between my hotel and the convention, food, grocery ect and am curious is it mostly safe or a dont go out after dark type of situation? Follow up question. How walkable is the city? Im looking at staying within a halfish mile of the center?

Finally. Any recommendations on where to stay? Trying to do this on a relative budget so I was currently looking at Hampton Inn or Resident Inn. I heard from them that Hampton just finished a removel so I was leaning them also I heard resident might be some part of a homeless program/just have a homeless problem.

Ty for any and all input y'all

So I've been in service about a year and a couple months and am a 62 almost 63 with only moat holding me back, but why does Geico and leadership actively make this job suck?

They constantly change metrics, they constantly push for 9 then 10 and then 11 calls plus, 80-85%% surveys, 80%+ CES. They want you to do all of this but also not need any help and if you do its 20questions and you spend more time typing than getting the actual help. The GVA and new dynamics KT suck, but first thing asked is did you ask the assistant. Customers hate the IVR... and I could actually enjoy this job if not for the fucking moat. Why oh why is this a fucking metric for service and who has their head so far up their ass they think its a good idea.

You push us to go faster faster faster but then want us to randomly fucking stop and try to sales pitch shit the customer didnt call in for only to be told no and get marked down because they didnt get a fucking quote. Lets not also forget the popups that happen when you literally cant offer or they need to go somewhere else, or my favorite of after finally convincing the person to go over you get a moat agent that is clearly going to nuke the call because its its better for them to gamble on the next call being something they can sell than it is to help the transfer especially when its from CA. I'm literally a top performer in every metric that isnt moat and im going to quit this place because of it. So who made this their pet project that actively fucks over your employees
