Is Class A rating worth buying over AA for the same price

I see tons of class A garments for similar prices as some AA garments. Specifically jackets.

Im curious on your opinion from the protection standpoint. I know class A usually has better ventilation than AA, and that’s what you’re buying. But for some reason I cannot justify buying a slightly better ventilated class A jacket over an AA jacket for the same price. And I live in Texas. It’s hot. Just saw a class A garment worth more than my RST Ventilator XT CE AA jacket. Idk.

Is wearing class A worth it to you if you have an AA option? If so, why or why not?

Dealership Service Experience

2024 cb300r “very simple” apparently to any mechanic / tech. Anyways took it in for the 4k service with all oem parts for oil change, and my own preferred lube for them to use. They didn’t use my lube, said the drain plug and washer were wrong (they used the same parts last service no issue), used a different lube, slightly overfilled oil, and overinflated my rear tire by 6 psi and my front by 5 psi

Bro

I can do basic maintenance myself. I have the service manual now though and will learn how to do it all. I cannot trust this bs anymore 😭

I’m just in shock tbh

CB300R Seat Cover

Has 1” or so of extra padding. I put it on today and did notice I was not sliding around in the seat as much. Outside of that I can’t say much but can update this in a few weeks once I get a better feel. It is definitely comfier, but not sure how much of a difference it makes yet.

Haven’t seen really anything online about this for the cb300r so wanted to share. Really like the diamond stitch. Not the best job and I may re-staple it down the line but happy with it for my first time.

Best protective, ventilated boot?

Looking for a full boot that isn’t too uncomfortable to walk around in too.

Keep debating the RST Tractech Evo D3O boots or A* SMX 6 v3 air.

I don’t love the money / value from A* from what I’ve seen, but looks to be a decent boot.

I do not track ride, but if I go down at 80mph on the highway I’d like some decent torsion protection.

2024 CB300r Consuming Oil?

All maintenance up to date. Bought new in November 2025. At 3700 miles now.

Roughly 6 weeks ago at 2700 miles or so I topped off the oil to the max fill line because I noticed it got low. About 1000 miles later and it’s now where pictured.

I’d say 500 of those miles have been high rpm highway speeds but never redlining. I’ve read these single cylinder engines can consume some oil but I have no clue how much is normal

Anyone have experience with Kriega?

Looking for a backpack that is comfortable and can hold a 15” laptop for work.

Love the R20 and see great reviews but not sure if it’s enough space and can’t find the answer. Especially with the curvature it has.

Trying to ditch my tail bag and get a backpack or switch to bigger saddle bags after maybe adding a bracket, changing to a shorter exhaust so it doesn’t burn my bags and then getting new bags.

Does this feeling ever go away?

Almost at 8 months of owning my first bike. Was listening to a song I listened to a ton in the first couple months which prompted this post.

Jamming, on a straight, no traffic, one hand on the throttle, left hand flailing about like an idiot having the best time of their life while jamming to music and feeling the wind.

I still get that feeling. I hope it never goes away. Some days are hotter and not as fun to ride on but that’s life.

Lots to continue learning, and making upgrades to my 300cc instead of saving toward a different bike now. :) ride safe yall no real point to this post but wanted to share in case anyone is considering a bike but is on the edge. If you’re decently responsible with self control and resourceful to continue learning, I’d say go for it. Life changing.

Pros and cons of Kriega R20?

Does anyone have the kriega r20 backpack? I’ve heard phenomenal things about it and it has great reviews. I’m considering this for lighter trips instead of my bags. I got bags originally because I hate the feeling of a regular backpack but the kriega apparently feels like you’re not wearing one from what I’ve read.

Pros and cons?
Can it fit a 15” laptop with the way it’s curved to the body?

Anyone with a top rack worry about cars seeing your brake light?

I’ve been considering one but am curious to how it may block the tail light more as a car approaches you from behind. Is the difference negligible in reality? Even more if the top rack is closed to flush with the top of the rear seat.

Recommendations for Boots & Gloves with great protection + airflow

I’m looking for full boots and gloves that offer good ventilation, and quality protection. I don’t want my ankles or wrists to snap if I go down… prevent that as much as possible. And I’d like palm sliders in the gloves too.

Currently I use Pando Moto Onyx II with double palm sliders, and REAX Fulton Air II boots. Both are great but definitely more for casual urban riding since it’s short cuffs and short boots.

Hoping for something feasible that is worth the money… considering more RST gear tbh. Don’t worry about price, just the price:quality ratio.

Thanks in advance

Is my sprocket rust a concern?

Is this new rider paranoia or something of concern?

The streaking from the center oxidation. It wipes right off. I didn’t notice this before and I cleaned and lubed this front sprocket about 2 weeks ago, maybe 3. I have rode in some light rain since then.

At least I figure it’s oxidation

Am I crazy or missing the fuel tank breather hose?

Edit: Bike meets CA regulations and has an EVAP system. Question answered. Thanks all.

Convince me to NOT get a Vulcan650 for my next bike

The parallel twin Kawasaki 650cc engine just speaks to me. I want my next bike to be good in slow speed traffic, and good for long distance commutes or road trips across Texas. I have a cb300r right now and love it as my first bike but one day want a bigger, smoother bike capable of sustained 85mph if needed

The weight of the Vulcan is all down low, if Im not mistaken. Makes it feel lighter than it is?

I know this is the Vulcan sub, so I can only expect biased reviews, but what are the pros AND bad things about the bike to you?

TLDR: Dude, I want one.

Thoughts on one of these bikes for long-distance trips?

With luggage options in mind, handling in low speed traffic, aesthetics, passing power on the highway, reliability and comfort, what bike do you think would be best to travel across Texas with?

Sport:
- Ninja 650
- CBR650R
- GSX8R

Naked:
- CB650R
- Z650
- SV650

Modern Retro:
- Bonneville T120
- Speed Twin
- Z650 RS
- XSR 700

Cruiser:
- Rebel 1100
- Super Meteor 650
- Vulcan S 650
- Shadow 750

I understand these bikes span across very different classes. I ask about these specifically because they’re ones I have my eye on. I need something that can do it all, and do it all well. My 300 can do it all, but not all that well… one day I’ll want a better highway bike. Something about the Kawasaki 650 parallel twins just stand out to me. They seem so smooth.

If you had to choose a motorcycle that’s great on long-distance trips and in city traffic, that’s not an ADV, which one would you choose and why?

Quiet Helmets?

Does a more “quiet” helmet really make a difference if you wear ear plugs every ride? I’m debating getting the Arai regent x

I have a bell dlx mips and I like it but I feel like it’s loud even with ear plugs. The wind noise is just always there. I can’t test ride in other helmets because the stores, at least near me, don’t allow you to. You can sit in them and see how it fits your head and take it home for a few hours to really see, but not ride in them.

How Do You Alter Moto Gear

If sizing isn’t perfect but as close as you can get, do you ever alter the garment? Like hemming pants or shortening sleeves or updating stitching on older gear etc. if so, how?

I’ve avoided it due to my worry around affecting the quality and integrity of the original garment

What could this sound mean?

‘24 CB300r 3.2k miles all service up to date, coolant and oil levels correct.

Engine stopped at a stop sign. Wouldn’t start up again and made this noise. Pushed it to the side and turned the key to off, waited a minute and it started up again 0 issues all sounded normal then rode normal.

No lurch, i know it wasn’t a stall.

Added bags

This is without any luggage racks. Anyone have rack recommendations? Not needed at the moment but if I get bigger ones it will be.

Happy to share these bags if anyone’s interested. Amazon.
