Front Disc and pad replacement DIY or not?

Hi,

I recently purchased my new to me 2022 Pro Performance ID.4 when purchasing and looking through the history their was an advisory from the last MOT (UK) in January for the front brakes and I can't quite remember the exact terminology but it was something like worn or pitted but not excessive.

I believe you don't use the brakes very often when driving but I have heard at worst a grinding when pulling out of my driveway, I was thinking that its due to the minimal use and the car maybe sat for a few weeks before I bought it. So, the disc's may have some surface rust and it would wear off with use.

Again with little use I can't tell if that's the case and I cant see the disc very well through the wheel being steel hubs. So, with the next MOT due next Jan can I replace the disc and pads myself like I have previously on my Tiguan & Passat or being electric and regen is it not as simple? I haven't found the info online and parts seem to be few and far between.

How did you find and choose your installer?

I'm in a little bit of decision paralysis, I've had my EV for 3 weeks now and I'm able to charge at work occasionally when there not being used by a director. So, I haven't had to rush into getting a home charger installed.

I initially asked AI how to get a charger installed and it came back with ProAV and Smart Home Charge. I have gone through the quotes system and ProEV only offer the Ohme range, which I have dismissed after a bit of research. SMC can do the HyperVolt 3 Pro I'm interested in but again after a bit of research they will use a local contractor to do the install. Which I'm not opposed to but thought I could maybe cut out the middle man? (SMC)

Not knowing anyone else that has had a charger installed I can't ask for positive experiences and my google search hasn't come up with anything promising so, can anyone recommend a charger installer in Birmingham?

Thanks.

As the title, Everyone seems to use Octopus for their electrical provider. From UW website with 1 service the nightly cost is 8.5p which on the face of it seems good. I think we have Gas & Electric so I'd maybe get the 8p rate.

My 2nd question is how did you choose an installer? AI has suggested ProEV and their quote was £1000 for the Ohme pro which seems to be the norm. What should I be looking for?
