Me and my friend booked a holiday together in July, and we were supposed to go in September. It was originally just going to be the two of us, and we each paid £100 towards the booking.

Since then, things happened between us and the holiday was cancelled from my side. She told me that the money was non-refundable, which I accepted. I wasn’t expecting the company to give me the money back because I understood that the deposit was gone.

However, she has now posted something about needing to get ready for her holiday, which makes me think she may still be planning to use the original booking, either by herself or with someone else.

I genuinely have no issue with her going. If she wants to change the name and go with someone else, that’s completely fine. My issue is that I don’t think it’s fair for my £100 to effectively fund a holiday that I’m no longer going on.

If she does use the original booking, either alone or with someone else, would I be unreasonable to ask her to give me my £100 back? I understand the booking itself is non-refundable, but if she’s still benefiting from something that we both paid for, I feel like I should be reimbursed.

Would I be wrong to ask for my money back if she uses the booking?
