6 months post-Master's and struggling to even get interviews in the data/stats job market. Any advice?

Hey everyone,

Just looking for a bit of advice from anyone working in the data, stats, or analytics space in NZ. I finished my Master's of Mathematical Sciences endorsed in data science about six months ago and I am really struggling to get a foot in the door anywhere.

The frustrating part is I’m not coming at this with zero experience. I am currently doing stats/research work for DOC on a casual contract, I’ve got some consulting experience under my belt, and I was a senior tutor at UC for 2 years supervising MADs students and overseeing project completion after tutoring for 2.5 years prior to that (all while completing my studies). But despite that, I'm just getting nowhere.

I've mostly been aiming at data analyst or design analyst roles across both the public and private sectors, but it is all falling completely dead, even though they are roles I am confident I would be able to do to a good standard.

Is the market just entirely frozen for this kind of work right now? I'm wondering if I'm searching for the wrong job titles, or if I should just be trying to get into organisations or government agencies in a completely different role and hoping for a sideways move later.

Would love to hear from anyone who has been through this recently or knows what the market is actually doing right now. Cheers.

I was wondering if up priority would deliver it within that time frame to Oakland. It's only an 18 minute drive but i can't garuntee she has transport while she is there! Hydrangea Coffee Roasters is in Berkeley

Any help from anyone who knows UPS and shipping time frames, would be much appreciated!

Ona using LLMs in marketing

Hi all,

Im just wondering what you all think about this. In the age where we are seriously focusing on farm to cup relationships and working towards better pay for farmers for their work (their own labour, and creations) sidestepping costs to use an AI to generate click bait marketing posts on social media?

Its not even the AI part that riffles me, its the constant preaching of mainitaing relationships and making sure everyone is getting the best product, you just contradict all of this and use an AI to generate your posts? AI can't be creative by design, it has a latent knowledge of how the world works as a byproduct of seeing so much information, and your leveraging that?

You preech farmers being paid fairly for their creations and you go and do this? Seems like a fucking poor attempt to stay relevant, and with an already established brand, why???

Anyway, hope you enjoy your coffee today x

Hi all,

First time using autopots and a reservoir, im at a different location so I know it may be different water, but im trying to deduce wtf is going on here. I've always used cx horticulture and never experienced salt buildup like this, im also noticing like a brown sediment that is floating around too, mixing the same, roughly 1-1.5ml/L.

I think its causing lockout. But how does one fix this so they can use a res with water that might be "hard".

Any advice would be awesome and its breaking my balls a little, literally cleaned out the tank a week ago and its full of shit again.

Thanks all!
