Have you noticed any weight loss that’s not from appetite change? Like higher metabolism?

Background : I’ve got PCOS and have been dieting this year to lose some weight and it’s been SLOW (normal for me unfortunately). And I hit a plateau for several months.

I’ve been on a cut for the past 6 weeks and tracking my calories. Started strattera 2 weeks ago. My stubborn weight that wouldn’t budge for months has suddenly dropped a pound! Which might not sound like much but for someone who weighs every day for months….i couldn’t go even 0.1 pounds under my lowest (fluctuating) weight. And now suddenly a pound gone! I’m ecstatic 🤩

But not sure what caused the difference? The meds haven’t had much impact on my appetite aside from first few days and since I was tracking I noticed I didn’t have enough calories in me so forced myself to eat more lol

So my diet hasn’t changed.

I’ve searched through this group and most people seem to lose weight due to change of diet …

So now I’m wondering…Does strattera increase metabolism?? Maybe it’s the fact I feel relaxed for first time in my life? 😅 I know a lot of my weight gain is stress related.

Anyone else experiencing this? Please share and give me hope 😅😂

I suspect my niece has ADHD. Do I tell her mom? Is there a point in diagnosis if medication might not be an option?

So some background: I was a late diagnosed ADHD (ADD version) adult who only found out in her 30s. The past few years I have learnt about it have been a rollercoaster of emotions to say the least. A lot of grief over not knowing and ‘what ifs’ of if I had. Shock from using medicine and how easy life was etc. However, I have had bad experiences from the meds and have had to come off them and trying different things. The major reason I went undiagnosed was 1) was a girl 2) ADD - so I was not outwardly hyper and was a ‘good quiet child’ and 3) I did well in school and life (turns out really smart + perfectionist + anxiety = great at masking. But to my detriment and has caused a lot of problems and burn out)

On to my niece. She is 8 years old and I have suspected she might have ADD too but have not brought it up to her mom because 1) she was too young and could be ‘just a kid thing’ and 2) I know her mom would not be receptive. It also did not seem to impact my nieces life at all.

However, recently, I have noticed more ‘symptoms’ come up and I see a lot of myself in her. They are not red flags of her struggling, but red flags of ADD. (Ex: she told me how she gets mad when she’s focusing on something (aka hyper focus) and then her mom asks her to do something, and then she can’t get back into it even if she wants. Ex 2: she told me she hates showers and getting in one. My sister tells her too bad you’re gross and sees it as normal child thing. I relate to her in the ADD sense… so it’s lots of ‘subtle signs’ that could be read as something else).

The thing is, she is doing well in school too (she is quite clever), has a much better social life than I do (lol), and otherwise seems to be functioning well.

And with my bad experience of medication I wouldn’t wish it upon her (I know…her experience may be different).

I am wondering if I should bring this up to my sister? I anticipate her mom not being receptive. Perhaps even defensive or offended. (She was quite rude with my diagnosis and basically insinuated that I’m being dramatic…as if a psychiatrist would make that up) But I feel I owe it to my niece to try? Or should I not? Is this over stepping?

Is there a point in getting diagnosed if she wouldn’t be medicated? (Not right now anyways)

I don’t want her to have the same struggles as I did. But I also dont want her to feel limited (I sometimes wonder if I HAD been diagnosed whether I would still be as successful if I had the ‘label’ of ADHD if that makes sense).

Please be kind in your answers I’m not trying to offend anyone or say the wrong thing. I am still struggling with my own diagnosis and worried about my niece and want what’s best for her.

Berberine causing weight GAIN? 😭

I decided to try berberine as it’s really popular for PCOS weight loss. I’ve been on weight loss journey for a while and have been stagnant. I’ve been on berberine about a week and I’ve been slowly gaining weight???

It was a little at first (normal fluctuations I thought). But now 5 pounds heavier than day 1???? And it’s been 2 days at higher spot. My fluctuations never look like this! Not even at my period!

I searched and saw some old posts on here about people asking same thing but nobody actually updated what happened. I saw ONE person say it fixed itself after a week or two. Others saying it went up and never went back down. 😭😭😭

Please help 😭 it took me MONTHS to lose 5 pounds and a week to gain it. I’m spiralling. Is it just water weight? Please oh my God. Help meeeee.

My diet and exercise haven’t changed. If anything I’ve burned more calories as I’ve been going on longer walks.

Do I continue or do I stop? Those who has the same situation please share experiences

FIDO locked my phone that I paid for OUTRIGHT?? And now I’m stuck cause my flight leaves in an hour. Any options ??

I’m really pissed off right now. I’m at the airport and trying to figure out why my Europe e sim isn’t installing. I talk to the esim provider like ??? It’s always worked easily multiple times in the past?

They tell me it’s probably cause my phone is Locked. I say nahhhh. I bought the phone outright (at Fido store but I paid for full thing with my credit card). It shouldn’t be Locked. Heck even when I was on monthly plan phone wasn’t locked. Isn’t that illegal since like 2017?

Anyways I check and YEAH they blocked my phone. I try customer service and it doesn’t let me talk to anyone and keeps giving me automated answers. Same in chat. All they say is “we can call you back tomorrow. Schedule a time”

Well they can’t call me back! I’ll be on a plane !!

Any idea what to do?

I tried calling, chat, and even Facebook messenger! Nothing works :(

Would they even be able to do it when I’m abroad ??

Please help 😭

My mom and I were going to go on a cruise in Europe. We bought our own cruises on our own cards. I bought the Air Canada flights for me and my mom on my aeroplane card to take advantage of free checked bags for me and my mom.

My mom has since had a really bad fall down some stairs and broke her foot. She is very immobile. We are trying to figure out our options and if we can even cancel at this point ?

Would TD Aeroplan visa infinite credit card refund both of our tickets if my mother can’t go ? I know only spouses/children are covered under insurance. But I can’t go because of her….is that a valid reason to cancel both and get refunds?

And slightly unrelated but….she purchased the cruise on her credit card which has travel insurance so she should be fine. But if I try to cancel….I booked it on my roger cash back card cause I wanted to use my cash back on it…. Would I be SOL with attempting a refund with that card? (I realize it’s separate issue than this group but figured I’d ask if anyone knows!)

Thanks for any help!! Panicking now as our trip is like 10 days away :(
