FLARESAT just launched on Product Hunt. 🚀
Hey guys, today is the day.
Started working on FLARESAT as a tool for me and my family and the community has been awesome. Feedbacks, interest, thank you messages and more. It’s been overwhelming as I never expected anyone to use it after my 155 failing project ideas :)
FLARESAT been always free and it will continue to be free for the non cloud part. I decided to try my luck and launch on Product Hunt. What doesn’t this mean?
Launching on product hunt will not only drive more traction and help me out in the development through feedback and supporters who want to support me. It will also bring more people to the mesh since this is one of the main features “off grid” I tried to reach out to the devs so I can work with them to recommend Meshcore as the go to with no luck but still would love to push meshcore over something else.
With the being said
Flaresat is officially live on Product Hunt right now. Many of you have been with us from the start, from beta all the way to here. If Flaresat has ever helped you coordinate with your team, we’d love a moment of your time. One click. Costs nothing. Makes a huge difference for a small team.

3 months ago I posted a squad tracker I built. Here's what changed.
3 months ago I posted a squad tracker I built. Here's what it looks like now.
Hey guys, I posted here about 3 months ago about FLARESAT, a live squad map I built as a hiker. You gave me some great feedback (and some honest downvotes lol). I kept building. Here's where it's at.
The core idea: everyone on your squad appears on a shared live map the moment they join. No refresh, no "where are you" calls. You see them move in real time.
What you can actually do with it on the field:
- Live positions, every teammate on the map as they move
- Drop Pins, mark objectives, rally points, downed players, safe zones, anything, with custom name, color, and icon
- Draw Routes, trace flanking paths, patrol lines, approach routes with your finger
- Mark Areas, shade sectors, kill zones, boundaries
- Geofence Alerts, draw a zone, get a push notification the instant someone enters or exits it. Set one around an objective and you know the second your team (or theirs) moves on it
- Map Chat + Voice Notes, text and audio messages that live on the map. Tap a location in chat and the map flies to it
- Background Live Share, your location keeps broadcasting for up to 8 hours with your screen locked and phone in your pocket
- Compass HUD, live bearing overlay built into the map view
- Weather Overlays, rain, wind, temp if you're doing outdoor milsim and actually care
- Roles, Admin, Member, Viewer. Game admins or spectators can watch without touching anything
- QR Invites, scan to join, no typing, no account needed to join a spectate
- Works without cell service, if your field has no signal, you can pair the app with a small LoRa radio (think: long-range data radio, ~10km+ range) and the whole thing runs off-grid. No towers, no WiFi, no subscription. This part is optional and needs a small piece of hardware, but it's genuinely incredible for outdoor fields
iOS, Android, and browser, all in sync.
If you've played a game with it or have feature requests, I really want to hear them. Still building this actively. I am open to hear your opinions, is it useful? would you use it?
The app is totally free on all platforms. Nothing is paid, no trial nothing at all
Curious about the off-grid radio side? This guide covers what hardware to get and this one explains how the firmware works, both written for people who have never touched a radio before.
How To Set Up Your MacBook For Power Users & Developers (2026 Complete Guide)
adrelien.comUpdate: You asked, we listened — FLARESAT now works without an account
When we posted about our MeshCore update a few days ago (~10k views, thank you!), the #1 piece of feedback we kept seeing was: *"I don't want to create an account."*
Fair enough. We heard you.
Guest Mode is now live. You can download the app and be on the mesh map in seconds, no sign-up, no email, nothing. Just tap "Continue without account" on the login screen.
Here's what you get in Guest Mode:
- Create or join Radio groups (via code or QR)
- Drop pins, draw routes, mark areas
- Text chat over the mesh
- Connect your LoRa radio (Meshtastic or MeshCore)
- Geofence alert zones
- Full map, compass, layers
Cloud features (online groups, cloud backup, relay bridging) still require an account when you want them, but there's zero pressure to sign up until you actually need that stuff. And if you do create an account later, your local Radio groups stay exactly where they are.
Still actively reading feedback here. What else is keeping you from trying it?
Meshtastic vs MeshCore: I Run Both, Here's the Honest Truth (2026)
This might be interesting for some new comers. Also I would love to hear some feedback, am I too dumb to figure MeshCore from the first min?
FLARESAT Supports MeshCore Now!!! (Huge Summer Update, Need Feedback!)
Hey guys,
We just pushed our biggest update yet, and the main headline is that we now fully support MeshCore firmwarealongside Meshtastic. It has full feature parity, pins, routes, chat, and live location all work the same across both.
A few other quick things we added:
- Geofence Alerts: Draw a zone on the map and get alerted when someone crosses it (works offline over the mesh).
- Background Live Share: Keeps broadcasting your location even when your phone is locked.
- Radio Delivery Status: You can actually see if your radio transmitted the message (Pending/Sent/Failed).
- "Off-Grid" mode is now just called Radio.
If you're running MeshCore (or Meshtastic) we would love for you to test it out and give us some honest feedback. What works? What feels clunky?
Let me know what you think!
Stop fighting with MQTT brokers and zero-hop limits. The Flaresat Relay Bridge instantly connects your off-grid Meshtastic mesh to anyone online in seconds. Get real-time, bidirectional sync for live maps, pins, routes, and chat using just your phone's internet, no server infrastructure needed.
