Is this reasonable itinerary for whitby?

I’m from India and ever since watching phantom thread I’ve wanted to visit Whitbyso I’m finally planning solo trip this october.
I’m thinking of 5 days itinerary and would love to know if this sounds reasonable or if I’m overdoing/underdoing it.
I’m also into photography, British food and the pints so any recommendations are very welcome.

Day 1, Whitby Harbour, Old Town, 199 Steps, St Mary’s Church
Day 2, Whitby Abbey & cliff walks
Day 3, North Yorkshire Moors Railway or Robin Hood’s Bay & Sandsend
Day 4, Beach, promenade & boat trip
Day 5, North York Moors scenery
Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions :)

Locals or people living in germany able to shed some light on this?

I was in the south of Germany for a week on holiday last month and had a fantastic time.

The only thing that’s been bugging me is that there were a few disagreements between me and my friend. For context I’ve living in Ireland for 4 years and he has been living in germany for about 5 years now.

I like photography so whenever I point my camera at a castle or some popular landmark, people inevitably end up in the frame. It’s never intentional, but whenever it happened my friend completely lost the head and said people are very sensitive about privacy.

The second one was in a restaurant. The waiter dropped the cloth used for serving wine right beside my feet, so I picked it up and handed it back. My friend nearly had a heart attack and said I shouldn’t have touched it because it’s against hygiene standards.

Thank fuck, I’ve booked solo trip to berlin in ooctober 🤣 so now I’m wondering if there are actually social norms around things like this that I should know about before I accidentally piss some locals off.

Getting photography into a local gallery as a hobbyist ?

So I’m looking to get some of my photography into a local gallery.
I still consider myself an amateur. At the moment I’m not really working on any particular concept or project either . I mostly just take photos of things that catch my eye or that I find interesting for one reason or another.

Is there a usual path into exhibiting work?

I’ve had a look at a few local gallery websites but can’t seem to find much information about submissions or open calls.

I only do photography parttime, so I’m not expecting anything major. Just curious how people got their foot in the door.
Thanks in advance.

How authentic you guys find A.R. Rahman’s work in chamkila and main vaapas aaunga?

Hope it’s okay to post this here.

Rahman is Tamil and he’s often spoken about how much he loves Indian classical music and ragas, which is the tradition he comes from. I’m Tamil myself, so it’s hard for me to judge how authentic his Punjabi work sounds.
Personally, I loved the soundtrack, but I’m curious what Punjabi listeners think. Does it sound natural and rooted in Punjabi music, or does it feel more like Rahman’s own style applied to Punjabi lyrics and themes?
Would love to hear your thoughts.

Has anyone been to night moves / cafe nights gigs in drogheda ?

I’m in my mid 20s and looking to make a few friends in drogheda. I’m a bit of an arty type as well, so they seem like they might be my sort of thing.
Just wondering what kind of crowd I can expect. If anyone’s been before, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks:)

Looking for some hope (and stories)

Sorry for another dating post. I’ve been on a fair amount of dates through apps and I’m starting to feel a bit mentally drained by the whole thing.

Most of the time I feel pretty neutral after a date, then decide the next day and send a message. But there have been two exceptions.

One was around Christmas. We met in Kodiak. For the first time, I remember seeing the sunrise on the horizon as I met her. The night ended up a bit magical we were both a bit too full of ourselves, singing Christmas songs in the street, grabbing ice cream, pints in hand, just wandering around for 4–5 hours like we owned the world. She even gave me a kiss on the cheek when we said goodbye.

Next day was my downfall. She said she enjoyed me as a person but felt like something was missing she couldn’t quite explain.

The second was just yesterday, second date with her. I was genuinely excited to see her, the conversation was easy, we seemed aligned on a lot of things and I thought it might go somewhere. But again, it just… didn’t.

Now I’m kind of stuck between feeling hopeful and just exhausted. Even with months between dates, I’m starting to feel wary of the process like I might not find someone I really click with or I’ll slip into trying too hard. I guess I’m just water on a lotus leaf always there in the moment but never really staying.

I think I’m going to take a break from the apps for a while.

If anyone’s got any recent positive dating stories or advice for staying mentally strong , I could do with a bit of hope right now.

How do people usually handle overnight guests when renting a room in a family home?

I rent a room in a family home (attic room, share bathroom). I've got a date on feiday and was wondering if it's reasonable to ask my landlord if she can stay over for one night.
Don't want to be disrespectful or make things awkward … just not sure what's normal in this situation.

Thoughts on bhai’s background work

As a hardcore ARR fan, I've never really trusted ARR with background scores for commercial films.
Even though Bhai's recent inconsistency, his work in Peddi and Raayan absolutely elevates those films.
As someone else mentioned in another post, the music felt slightly out of place in a few moments, but overall it does seem as though Bhai is slowly reclaiming his throne.

Next up is Main Vaapas Aavug. Once the film releases, I reckon that'll be the talk of the town.

That said, I've never quite understood Bhai's formula for composing background scores. His style feels almost Broadwayesque and incredibly idiosyncratic. It either lands spectacularly or misses the mark entirely there rarely seems to be any middle ground.

If you asked me about my favourite ARR soundtracks, as I'm typing this I'm thinking of Kaatru Veliyidai, where it genuinely felt as though he was telling the story through his score. Then there's Bombay, Iruvar, Maryan, Kadal, Highway, and Chamkila. Those are classic examples of his understated approach scores you barely notice while watching, yet they leave a tremendous impact.

His recent shift towards a louder, more bombastic style is something I'm still unsure about, although I'm pleased to see him adapting to current trends. The irony is that whenever he goes back to his understated style, people immediately dismiss it by saying, "Bhai just let Ameen handle the music

Personally, I'd love to see him find a balance between modern trends and his signature approach.
Whether he manages that or not, only time will tell.

How the tf are Irish people so good at small talk?

I’ve been living here for 4 years and small talk is still one of those infinite things I haven’t mastered (Introvert as well). There’s a coffee shop I’m a regular at they all know my name. I usually order my coffee, sit down and read, unless one of them randomly asks how my day’s going then I’ll chat a bit.

In general, it always feels weird to me to just start talking randomly, but Irish people do it so smoothly and naturally. Any tips?

27M, living and working in Ireland for just over 3 years now (nearly 4) based around Meath/Louth. Open mminded and fairly liberal. I don’t smoke and only drink occasionally.

I’m about 175 cm if that matters at all lol. I’m really into photography, books (reading knausgard atm) and art in general. Bit of a coffee snob, I won’t lie. Currently learning piano as well.

Weekends are usually spent hiking or cycling, camera in hand and piano. Big fan of places like carlingford and newcastle (NI). I also enjoy listening to soundtracks and contemporary classical music.
Always up for meaningful conversation. If you feel like we’d get on, feel free to drop me a message :)
