Researching starting Roaccutane - would love to hear your experience

Hi everyone, I'm doing some research on what it's like to start Roaccutane — especially the fear around the side effects and mental health, and how people find (or struggle to find) trustworthy information.

I'd genuinely love to hear your experience. It's a short, anonymous survey (~3 mins) https://form.typeform.com/to/PjHO8sgR

Mods, if this isn't allowed, let me know and I'll take it down. Thanks 🙏

What was your experience

Hi everyone — I'm trying to understand what going through an acne treatment course is like before I start!

  • Any tips?
  • What surprised you or annoyed you the most?
  • What did you use to get through it and stay on top of things? (e.g. just remembering, notes, google?)

Thanks so much!

Science PhD leaving clinical work — what freelance or part-time income streams exist?

Thinking of leaving a senior clinical embryology role and build income from multiple part-time or freelance sources.

I know portfolio careers are common in marketing and creative fields. I’m less sure what this looks like for someone with a science background.

My skills:
\\- PhD in reproductive cell and developmental biology
\\- Live cell imaging, microscopy, reproductive biology research, genome editing
\\- Scientific writing and journal publications, journal article peer reviewer
\\- Adobe Illustrator and Strong computer skills

Has anyone with a science or clinical background successfully built income from freelance or part-time work — without going back into a traditional role?

How often should you get AMH tested?

Got my AMH tested in early 2024 aged 29 and it came back low at 6 pmol/L. I’m now 31 and hoping to start trying in about a year.

Would it be worth getting retested before I start TTC, or is the 2024 result still relevant enough to guide next steps? Not sure if a lot can change in ~2 years with AMH?

Low AMH at 29 — should I retest now at 31?

Has anyone retested after a gap like this — did it change anything for you?

How did you keep track of taking your medications for IVF cycle?

Hello,
Interested to know how you kept track of your medication schedule and appointments for IVF cycles?
My clinic gave me a PDF print out with medications, what days to start them and times they need to be taken. I’m feeling very overwhelmed with all the info. The treatment is costing a lot $$$ and I’m terrified to make a mistake. Did anyone else feel the same way?

Has anyone else found IVF medication instructions overwhelming?

Hi everyone,

My partner and I have been going through IVF recently, and I was given a PDF with quite a lot of medication instructions and cycle details.

I’ve found it overwhelming at times, and I’ve been wondering whether that’s just my experience or something others go through as well.

For those who are comfortable sharing, I’d really love to understand:

  • How did your clinic give you medication and cycle instructions?
  • How did you keep track of medications and timing during a cycle? (e.g phone alarms, apps?)
  • What part of the instructions did you find most confusing or stressful?

I’m just trying to understand how others manage this, because I’m realising there’s a lot to keep track of and I’m not sure what “normal” looks like.

Thanks so much to anyone who is willing to share their experience.
