Gear and processing:
After my latest holiday, decided to downsize my camera gear.
Had a Sony A7R III with a few lenses but just wanted something smaller. I usually would take my Sony RX100 VI, but it no longer turns on, and replacements are still very expensive (quality for a 1" sensor is amazing though).
So I took advantage of camera store discounts and OM System's cashback offer (still waiting on this). It was a tough choice between the Fujifilm X-T50 and similar, but it came down to autofocus and the size of the lenses in comparison.
Ended up buying an OM-3 and a few lenses. Also picked up a 1.4x teleconverter from eBay (came with a pouch), and a PEN E-P7 with kit lens from Japan (almost new in box) to replace my RX100 VI - bought via buyee.jp.
So far loving both.
I was a bit worried with the EP-7 being contrast focus, but so far it's not been an issue at all.
(oh the EP-7 has a 3-d printed lens cap, took to a beer fest, and my friends could stop using the camera, but lost the lens(
have another lens cap on order.
Hi all,
This is my second Varia VS4 coffee grinder. The first one lasted less than a week before it stopped turning on. The replacement has now failed after about 4 weeks.
The common factor both times: I remove the top part to access the burr and give it a clean with a brush. I reseat it correctly, the same way each time, but the grinder then fails to turn on. There doesn't seem to be any obvious electrical connection between the top part and the rest of the machine, so I'm not sure what's failing.
I bought it from Alternative Brewing in Brisbane, Australia, they've been great about swapping the unit over with no issues. This time, before I hand it back, I'm going to ask them to:
My guess is this might be some kind of safety interlock (e.g. a switch that needs to detect the top is properly seated) rather than a genuine fault, but I don't know the internals well enough to say.
Has anyone else run into this?

And testing out new camera, 350 km range and still more in the tank, very impressed (compared to my M 1000 R)
Used this camera for a Japan trip about 6 years ago and on and off since. Went to grab it out of storage for a recent Northern Territory trip and it wouldn't power on, batteries wouldn't charge in-camera, charged fine externally though.
I ended up shooting the trip on an A7R III instead. (Such a big system when you factor in the lenses.)
Sent it in for a quote for repair $1000**+ AUD was hoping no more than $400**. Not worth fixing, so it's getting sold for parts/not working when I get it back
Went to price up a VII to replace it and I'm floored it's sitting at $1,600–1,700 AUD now. For a 2019 camera!
Anyone found a real alternative in this pocketable-1"-sensor space, or is it VII or nothing at this point?
I did sell all my Sony gear and got OM-3. But still would like something pocketable.
Well, I had my Varia VS4 Coffee Grinder for less than a week.
Friends over, went to show them, and it no longer turns on.
Nothing, no signs of any problems that I can see.
Going to ring company I bought it from, they are about a 30 min drive from me.
Hopefully this is not a sign of their quality control.

Riding home from work today at around 50–60km/h when my right foot suddenly slammed into the road. Nearly lost the bike.
The footpeg didn't just fall off, the cast bracket that holds the entire footpeg assembly has fractured in two places.
This bike was recently serviced at an authorised BMW Motorrad dealer. There was no impact event, no crash, no kerb strike that I'm aware of.
At 2,400km on a 2023 model, this should not happen.
Would this be a casting defect? I'll be taking this up with My Local BMW Motorrad Australia dealership.
I'm the 2nd owner of the bike, recently services less than two weeks ago, with only 2,400kms on it...
Has anyone seen this failure on an R nineT before? Particularly on the 100 Years Edition with the Option 719 components. Keen to know if this is isolated or if others have experienced it.
This bike came up for sale at a good price, I always liked the look, and this one even more so so bought it.
Didn't come with rear subframe / passenger pegs, passenger seat or stock rear guard and exhaust.
The only thing I have done is Cerakote the exhaust hanger.

Just pulled the trigger on this limited edition with only 2,000km on the clock.
Did as much due diligence as I could, even called the local BMW Motorrad dealership who knew the bike and the seller personally, all positive feedback, so I was confident enough to go ahead.
Seller threw in personalised plates which was a nice bonus. I did have to cover the first service and transfer fees which came to just over $1,000 AUD, but the price was still great, around $10k less than the other three examples I found listed in other states.
A couple of questions for the community:
Did the 100 Years Edition come with a pillion seat or a longer dual seat from factory? The previous owner doesn't have the rear subframe or passenger footpegs, so I need to track those down, are there decent aftermarket options or is OEM the way to go?
I'm considering a Translogic quickshifter and looking for a clean way to add a USB connection for powering a GPS tracker. Any recommendations appreciated!
