Todoist style subtasks vs TickTick-style checklist+subtask split — which do you actually want?

Hi everyone,

I've built a productivity app and currently it has subtask under a parent task. User can checkoff subtasks independently and can only checkoff the parent task if all subtasks under the parent task are completed. Now, I'm trying to UX of a task based on two situation given below:

  1. Todoist-style: every subtask is just a task. Nest it under a parent, give it its own due date/reminder if you want, or leave it blank. One flexible object.
  2. TickTick-style: two separate things — a lightweight *checklist item* (no own date, just inherits the parent's deadline) and a full *subtask* (own date/reminder, more like a mini task).

If you use either app (or something similar), which do you actually reach for? Do you ever want one parent task with steps due on different days but still grouped together, or do checklists + separate tasks cover it fine for you?

Trying to figure out if the added flexibility of "every subtask can be scheduled" is worth the extra complexity, or if most people are happy with the simpler split. Curious what your actual usage looks like?

I'm currently improving this and releasing it soon so please share your feedback or ideas.

Thanks in advance

I genuinely looking for support from all of you for my startup!

Hi everyone,

I've a unified productivity solution that is built for overwhelmed, busy minds (think: too many tabs open in your head, not just your browser).

I lost my job two years ago, and instead of going back to a 9-to-5, I decided to build something of my own. It's been every single day - mornings starting with motivation, nights ending with a lot of self-doubt about how to actually grow this thing.

My app started for free, and I've grown to over 5,000 users organically, which still amazes me. I recently launched a Pro plan, but conversions have been slow, and honestly, I've hit a point where I need to step back and ask for help instead of guessing alone. I have tried everything to improve or optimize the experience and did it too but reaching to users and that too ICP is hard.

I know this space is crowded — there are a hundred productivity apps out there, and I'm not naive about that. But I'd genuinely love your support in any way you're able to give it:

  • Try the app and tell me honestly what's working or not working — even harsh feedback is welcome
  • If you know someone drowning in tasks and mental clutter, a share or recommendation would mean the world.

I'm not here to hard-sell anyone. I just needed to be honest somewhere, and this community felt like the right place to say it out loud.

Thank you for reading this far. Genuinely.

My app name is GoMindAI. It's available on app/play stores.

How much time it takes for ASO to show results?

Hi everyone,

I’ve a unified AI productivity planner designed for overwhelmed busy minds. I have tried working on ASO but I don’t see much in terms of downloads like it’s very less.

Things which I have improved:

  1. Logo changed based on my niche
  2. Screenshots revised
  3. Metadata updated as per other competitors but still the keywords which I use are not even showing my app on app search.

Are people actually seeing my app? I’m using Astro for ASO and it’s not working for me or may I don’t know how to use it if it’s working.

I know my niche is competitive but now it is what it is. I am trying to understand and learn from user feedback but real challenge to get downloads then it will be easy to understand more from data. I haven’t run any ads yet and don’t know how to do them either as it’s costly and don’t know if I should put effort on it or not.

But why my ASO is not working although I see other apps have good ranking. Please help!

Any tips to market my productivity app to right audience who will pay?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice on how to market my all-in-one productivity app to the right audience who are actively looking for a solution like this and are willing to pay for it.

The product is already getting great feedback from users, and now I want to focus on reaching the people who genuinely need it, use it, and see enough value in it to become paying customers.

I’m launching the web version too so looking for someone who prefers the solution that works across the platforms and synced.

I’d love to hear your tips, strategies, or channels that have worked for you when it comes to finding high-intent, paying users rather than just generating downloads.
Would really appreciate any advice! 🙌

Thanks in advance!

My app has made $107 on iOS. Trying to understand the leaking. Please help!

Hi everyone,

My app is on iOS and Android both. Right now I've $107 of revenue on iOS so far. I'm trying to understand the leaking issue to see what's working or not working for my users. I see a lot of impressions but a few downloads daily. Please help me better analyze it.

My app is actually live from April (had to keep on hold due to some reason before that) and introduced paid plan in end of May.

I know my niche is highly competitive. I'm trying to get 10-15 paid users to understand their patterns and get real feedback from them. How to achieve this goal? Please help.

My app name: GoMindAI

Can anyone give me real feedback? I'm building solo and stuck in leaking issue

Hi everyone,

I've built a productivity app and I'm right now stuck to understand where it's leaking. I have updated a new app logo, improved onboarding, improved the app performance, app store or play store presence, and key features but not sure why users are not paying? I see trials but then they get canceled. I've tried emailing my users but haven't heard back from them.

Please please help me. I'm a solo founder and now feeling like crying to figure it out what's the issue.

Just give me harsh to harsh feedback. I will improve it right away. Give me tips and tricks to get 10-15 paying users who can actual give me feedback and tell me why they are not using it daily.

Please support. I hope you all will help me.

Right now I've 12 trials on iOS and 3 on android from 3 months. My ASO is not working and don't know how to make it work. I know my niche is highly competitive and I see my app rank on 122 so seriously can't figure out how to fix that too.

Here are the links.

Curious to know why todos apps usually have churn at day 3?

Hi everyone,

I want to genuinely know what makes to not use the app or tool after day 3. I have seen many productivity apps in the posts and people download in curiosity and then leave it using after day 3.

What can be the reason? Was there specific reason of worth opening the app? And, what is the deciding factor when people pay for the app?

Just trying to understand the pattern.

Which app is good so far in solving the real problem and why?
