Henna Recipe for maximum strength and growth

hi everyone,

someone on this sub asked for my Henna recipe but the post was taken down, so im leaving it here w some of my hair journey story for anyone who needs it..

there was a point where i didn’t think i could grow my hair to my shoulders. stress and anemia wrecked my hair completely and it was dry and brittle. i tried so many things, and spent so much money.

and i finally found what worked for me. it’s been about 6 years since i started my hair journey, and i am so happy that it’s reached my butt twice! (may post before and after pic at some point)

one of the biggest parts of this success is using Henna on my hair. i didn’t know much about it when it first crossed my path, and i thought it only came in the recognizable red color, but man was i wrong! Henna is freaking amazing! it is made from plants, and it colors and coats the hair shaft in a completely unique way- making the hair very strong, shiny, and resistant to breakage! it comes in different blends in a variety of colors, too.

so here is my Henna recipe for anyone who’s interested :)

it has been developed over many years, with some trial and error. Henna can be drying, and i created this mix to nourish and moisturize. i also have experimented with different ingredients, set time, cleansing/not cleansing after Henna- and this recipe and method are what i’ve settled on that’s worked best.

let me know if anyone has any questions and please do your research to make sure Henna is right for you before trying!

Nourishing Henna Recipe:

ingredients-
Rainbow Research Henna
Fresh Aloe blended
1/2 C Raw Honey
1/2 C Deep Conditioner
2C Hot Water

for more moisture:
1T Castor Oil
Essential Oils of your Choice

Mix Ingredients together in order, one at a time. (see pics above)
Add hot water slowly and mix until smooth (don’t let it get too runny!)

NOTE:

-DO BOT USE METAL UTENSILS, only plastic or wood (henna reacts negatively to metal)

-i only recommend using Rainbow Research Henna directly from their website (not from Amazon), bc Henna’s quality can be exceptionally questionable, and RR is 100% legit

To use:

-coat hair from root to tip. (yes it’s a huge mess, wear gloves, do it somewhere that cleans up easy.)
-cover hair, let sit for 3hrs.
-rinse out, shampoo, condition
-watch it shine ✨

henna hair every 6 weeks for best results!!

concerned about losing muscle after surgery

hi everyone,

i am not a gym rat by any means but i love staying active, working out, doing weight training, etc.

Ive been too lean before and worked very hard building the muscle and body weight i have now, and its really freaking me out that i need to have a laparoscopic surgery at the end of the month that will inhibit me from being active/working out for at least 6-8 weeks.

would love some advice on ways to minimize muscle loss and ways to approach working out/lifting when i get back to it.

some of the things i was thinking were to keep my protein intake consistent during healing, walking everyday, and walking up stairs when im able. and starting slow w low weight when i get back to it.

if youve ever gone through something similar, how did u deal and how long did it take you to get your strength/muscle back?

thanks!!

🚨PSA ABOUT MAGNESIUM GLYCINATE/BIGLYCINATE🚨

heads up to anyone with PMDD, depression, anxiety, OCD symptoms:

MAGNESIUM GLYCINATE/BIGLYCINATE has the opposite effect in some people, causing anxiety, panic, rumination, existential dread, and other unpleasant symptoms.

There’s something about how the brain processes the glycine that effects glutamate, which causes these symptoms.

For those of us with PMDD, this can mimic and intensify luteal symptoms- essentially making everything worse.

This paradoxical effect is apparently more common in Neurodivergent folks.

I see these supplements being highly recommended on PMDD subs and forums, and i hope this reaches those that need it.

i don’t want to be anyone’s LO, tips please?

hi, life long Limerent in recovery here. was also someone’s LO for years. Been free for 2 years after tons of therapy, etc. Learned SO MUCH in the process.

But here’s my query: I don’t want to be anyone’s LO (hopefully) ever again.

& I work in a place with a lot of lonely people who are looking for the smallest spark of anything to hold on to. My kindness has been misunderstood before so I try to keep to myself. and im very careful about how i interact with the opposite sex.

maybe that’s enough but i’d love some opinions from those who understand limerence! ty!

perfumes that feel like Falkor ✨

“Falkor is a "Luck Dragon" from the fantasy film The NeverEnding Story, known for his furry, dog-like appearance, pearly scales, and role as a guide and source of hope for the hero, Atreyu. Unlike traditional dragons, he is benevolent, wise, and brings good fortune, embodying perseverance with his famous line, "Never give up, and good luck will find you". His design is inspired by East Asian dragons, and he is a central, beloved character in the story. “

reunited

i am the alienated parent and this is the first time my son has stayed with me in almost 10 years. he is 21. it is such a long story that im not sure i’ll ever have the chance to tell. there were times i didn’t think i could endure.

thank you God.

he is here and i have waited so long.

and it doesn’t matter who tried to keep us apart. because they were all proved wrong in the end.
my son knows who i am and how much i love him. and i know how much he loves me.

if you are the alienated parent, hold steady.
there is hope.
i am proof.

after having a horrible experience taking a low dose ssri during luteal last year, i went back to trying natural/alternative treatments for my severe PMDD. one of them was micro dosing psilocybin for 3 luteal phases, and i am sharing this here for those who are interested.

psilocybin is a natural serotonergic, meaning it increases serotonin in the brain. it is also known to increase neuroplasticity, which creates new healthy pathways for change of mind and perspective, sometimes having lasting positive effects.

as a retired deadhead and psychonaut, i am no stranger to the psychedelic experience. but i have learned that real work (life changes, therapy, etc) need to be done, and that psychedelics are no quick fix magic pill for anything.

i believe that micro dosing has potential, but has it’s limits when treating pmdd symptoms in the day to day. i think there are many undeniable benefits, but in my opinion, it is not a miracle cure by any means. it was more of a foundational treatment for me, one that helped me to change how i saw my pmdd, potentially making other subsequent treatment approaches more successful.

what is micro dosing? why use it for pmdd?
micro dosing is the process of taking small amounts of psilocybin. it can be beneficial in treating pmdd by increasing serotonin, lifting mood, & changing stagnant perspectives.

what does it feel like when treating pmdd?
so to be clear, you do not trip when micro dosing. for me it feels like my mood lifts, and my thought process becomes less critical and more introspective.

how i micro dosed:
ovulation to cycle day 20: .1g golden teachers every 6 hrs
cycle day 20-28: .2g golden teachers/hillbillies every 6 hrs

i ultimately ended up finding such relief from other natural pmdd treatments (see my post history for more info), that i ended up stopping micro dosing after a few months.

i am seeing the growing interest in micro dosing for pmdd and am happy to answer any questions anyone has :)

I understand that the connection between histamines and pmdd is quite controversial, but it is undeniable how many of us are getting relief from antihistamines. and i am one of them. have been trying different kinds and was having a lot of success with Claritin alone, then heard about the combination of Claritin & Allegra- and wow wtf is this sorcery? that along with my Saffron Extract (see post history for info) made my past 3 cycles survivable (and even enjoyable) at moments!

sharing this here in hopes it can help someone who needs it :)

tldr: ladies do you experience more limerence at different points of your menstrual cycle? im a life long limerent in recovery & this is what i’ve learned..

i am 42 and have been plagued by limerence my entire life. i can remember the names of my LOs from 1st grade on, some lasting for decades. i’ve even become limerent over bands, musicians, animals, and geographical locations (yes, i became limerent over Northern California at one point lol). as you can probably guess, i hit the jackpot with an extremely dysfunctional, neglectful, abusive family unit- and that along with being neurodivergent, made me a prime candidate for ‘looking for love in all the wrong places’.

as i got older i thought it was getting better, but unfortunately it was just disguising itself in a more covert way, lying dormant until it’s latest, most destructive perimenopausal return- with my last limerent episode being a complete doozy and it ending up with the person reciprocating and it evolving into a full blown emotional affair. this literally shook me to my core, and thankfully i was able to call things off with my LO, tell my husband, get into therapy, work on my marriage, and avoid completely destroying my life from the inside out. thank God.

the last time i had direct contact with my LO was 1 year and 2 months ago. And given that we work for the same company, I am grateful to have stayed the course and am free from the dopamine addiction that our contact caused.

During this past year i have learned so much. One of the most profound things i came to understand is the connection between limerence and the menstrual cycle.

While tracking my cycle daily, I have come to the understanding that most of the limerent urges I experience are during the follicular and ovulation part of my cycle, with a pronounced repulsion/shame response when thinking of my LO during the luteal part of my cycle. With this revelation, I can look back on most of my limerent urges/actions, and see clearly that they were fueled by this state of mind, and I am able to be more aware of this while navigating limerent episodes in the future.
