Condo recommendation

Planning to move in Alabang by 4th quarter this year. I really want a place with a lot of green space. Hopefully near to the p2p going to one ayala. Better if near to everything. I'm looking for 1 bedroom but studio is fine too. At least semi-furnished (Bed, AC, Ref, Table ok na - bonus kung may shower heater na din but not really important)

I'm moving from north to south so I really don't have an idea in Alabang. It just got my attention because of the green space.

Moving from the Philippines to Europe for a Master’s degree: How brutal is the academic culture shock? (Independent research, Thesis, Rigor)

Hi everyone,

Planning to pursue my Master’s degree in Europe. I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for the transition, and I want a realistic picture of the academic culture shock—specifically regarding the shift from the Philippine higher education system to the European graduate system.

From my research, the differences seem massive, and I’d love to get insights from anyone who made this specific jump (or international students in Europe generally) on these points:

The Thesis Culture (ECTS weight & independence): In the PH, even at the graduate level, there is often a lot of structured hand-holding, group work, or progressive milestones dictated by an advisor. I’ve heard that in Europe, your master’s thesis is entirely on you—highly independent, solitary, and a massive chunk of your final grade. How hard is it to adapt to this level of autonomy without burning out?

Rote Memorization vs. Critical Application: PH education heavily rewards memorization, structured exams, and compliance (attendance, quizzes). I’m told European master's programs expect you to challenge theories, participate in intense seminar debates, and write complex research papers instead of just passing exams. How steep is that learning curve?

Professor-Student Dynamics: Are professors truly as "hands-off" as people say? If you are struggling with a concept or your research direction, what is the realistic expectation for support?

Passing Rates and Retakes: I've read that in some countries (like Germany or the Netherlands), failing a module or a master's exam is incredibly common, and grading is strictly regulated. Is the pressure as intense as it sounds?

For context, I am looking closely at programs in Italy, Germany and Spain.

If you made the move from the PH to Europe for grad school, what was your biggest "I'm not in Kansas anymore" moment academically? What do you wish you had studied or practiced before day one?

Thanks in advance!

Did a solo bday trip in Batad Rice Terraces and Baguio

I just planned everything a few days before my trip last June 18 night. Everything is DIY. I just get a guide when I was hiking the terraces because it was no joke. Also did the yellow trail in CJH and I rented a scooter to go around the city. As a spontaneous traveler, this is one of the best trip I had.

Banaue - Batad via Motorcycle

Hi! Can someone advise me if the road between Banaue to Batad is good and motorcycle friendly? I'm planning to just hire a motorcycle as my transport from Banaue Tourism Center to Batad and return. I thought it would be much cheaper than a 1k one way tricycle and I can manage my time well.

I will be there tomorrow.

Thanks.

LF: Landed House for rent

I'm looking on behalf of my boss who will be moving to Singapore in July 2026.

They prefer a landed house much better is detached house but semi detached, bungalow or terrace is fine as long as it is in a quiet area, lot's of green space. Can fit family of 5.

Area preference is near UWC Dover or Orchard.

They already saw and viewed a lot of houses listed in propertyguru. We are hoping to see more houses that are off the market.

Budget is 15k/month max.

Tenant is a Canadian Family. Husband and Wife both works for an International Organization.

Recommendation of a place for some quiet time.

I'm planning to take a solo trip somewhere next month and I am thinking of going to baguio and sagada. I wanted somewhere quiet with just nature. I don't plan to do any activities maybe just some walking or a short hiking. I'm open to beach location too but I thought for a change I'll go to a mountain this time.

Do you have other recos where to go? I'm based in QC.

In Baguio and Sagada, do you know any transient or guesthouse that does weekly or monthly rent? I plan to do remote work for a month so I'm looking for this kind of setup. Preferably with nature view to help me relax my mind.

I've been so stress lately. I wanted to treat myself of some peaceful time.
