Feeling like I let myself down because of injury

I posted a few days ago on how to help improve or manage my iron levels for my half marathon this upcoming weekend, and I think I have decided to pull out of it.

My training season has been a wreck. No runs feel good. I feel SO tired all of the time. Finally my annual comes up and we check my blood. My ferritin is a 10. I tried pills but they hurt my stomach, and so I just got approval for infusions.

This past weekend I had a 7 mile race that went OK. I took it mostly easy, but still pushed a bit because of the race adrenaline. I have not felt that good since, and today I slept 10 hours and still feel like I could take a nap. I feel so exhausted. I also have hypermobility issues I have been working on strength training, but was still feeling sore in my joints from the race.

For my best interests, I think I should take it easy and not run the half.

Then I see on reddit others running full marathons with similar blood levels to me. I feel like I could complete the half, but it won't be a fun time.

I am trying not to feel like I let myself down by not running this race. It wouldn't even be my first half, or big race. In fact, its a small community race. But I was really looking forward to it.

Has anyone else felt this way? I feel like I could have trained more or done something different, but I know this was not my fault.

Dauber, cloth or something else for dying knee-high boots?

I am dying a pair of thrifted leather knee-high boots from a rich tan to a dark, deep red. I am using Angelus dyes. My question comes from the dye applicator. What should I apply the dye with?

Angelus comes with a dauber, but I have been told it can be difficult to do right and not be streaky. I also have some cotton wiping clothes I bought at the hardware store. I have heard people use sponges. I do not want to buy a spray gun.

For the dauber, I know to blot it out before application and go in short, circular motions and build up layers. Is this good enough? I really want to do a smooth of a job as possible!

Securing a very loose end?

I am knitting Vest No. 9 from My Favorite Things. This is the front of the 'V' where I attatched left and right sides together. I am left with this loose end that does not seem secure at all. I worry that even weaving in the end it will still loosen. It could very easily slip out and start unraveling the stitches. I pulled out a small loop so you can see the structure and how loose it is.

Here is a photo wrong side facing:

Do I need to tie a knot here? Thank you!

How to fix "Victoria Beckham" lips?

The lower half of my face (nose+lips) is identical to Victoria Beckham's. Pretty much longer philtrum caused by a top inverted lip curved inward. I have full lips, but when you look at me head-on it is like my top lip is very small.

What procedures could I expect to fix this? Would a lip flip work, or would I need a lip lift? I am not a fan muzzle-y everything looks, but also know if I used filler it could make it worse.

Thanks!

Gut health and "off" days?

Like we all do, I have have off days where my legs feel heavy and everything feels like a slog. However, last week I ran 4x and on every single run I was feeling SO sluggish. Like my legs were barely getting off the ground. I was very well hydrated, fueled, and eating as I normally do. My weekly mileage has been consistent.

The only thing that was different for me was that I trying a new probiotic (if you're curious, Coconut Cult). It did not sit well and made my bloating and gas SO much worse. I have IBS and other gastro issues. I never really thought about how my gut could affect how I perform during my workout.

I am curious for other IBS gals like me, have you found a connection to IBS symptoms and running? Do you have a way to manage it? Any others have a similar experience?

I am really curious to hear about others' experiences with gut health and running!

Understanding Pot of Fortune conjunct North Node

https://preview.redd.it/u51udvset61h1.png?width=1494&format=png&auto=webp&s=19497c4dcf6e5ce653565963bb8e54a09e299612

I am trying to interpret my natal chart, but there is one aspect I am struggling with.

In my Virgo 5th house, my pot of fortune and north node are in conjunction with each other (12 and 10 degrees, respectively). They are both in 180 degrees opposition with my 11th house Jupiter in Pisces.

I am making a big life transition soon and in need of luck, so I would love to better understand these placements in order to become the best version of me.

Thank you!

Can you knit in a smaller yarn weight to make a o/s sweater fit smaller?

I am looking to knit the Skagen Knit from Skall Studio: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skagen-knit

It is so lovely! The problem is that is is one size, and I am a short, petite person. I love oversized but I may swim in this. The pattern calls for Aran weight. I was wondering if I switched to a worsted weight and went down a full or half needle size, would I be able to make a "smaller" version? Is there anything I need to watch out for?

I have not bought the pattern yet, but it appears the instructions are based on number of and rows not length (e.g. "knit 10 rows" vs. "knit to 12cm")

Thank you!
