Adult beginner here. I just want to say: It feels REALLY weird when you actually learn to literally read music.

Just this afternoon I burned through a few etudes in G and C major, and I realized I was playing the notes without difficulty understanding what they were, or having to count up from an open string, even into the third position leger notes on the E string.

Then I stopped and really looked at each note and realized I could read what note it was as easily as reading written English.

TOTALLY MIND BLOWING EXPERIENCE!!!!

Who knew it was even possible!!!

Returning beginner: I find that 90 percent of my practice is just me playing scales and trying not to double stop and pull a good tone from my instrument. I'm curious how much time more advanced students spend playing scales and focusing on pure mechanics.

I played for 9 years through elementary school and high school, then didn't touch a violin for 30. I'm picking it back up again and I feel like almost all I'm doing is playing the g major scale and arpeggio for a half hour a day.

I practice most of the actual music I'm trying to learn pizzicato as my bowing gets in the way of my left hand finding the true note.

I have a teacher, but he's already recommending I find someone more advanced to guide me. I'm Just curious what other adult students practice looks like.

I was gravely disappointed to realize that 'Fractuted Frontier' is not an existing Marvel 'future wild west' graphic novel series, and dies not in fact exist outside of snap.

I was legit excited to read a storyline where Thanos was some sort of hard nosed peacekeeper who takes the law too far and becomes in fact the villain representing authority in the future tech badlands of the wild beyond.

New surfer here. I have one of those 8' wavestorm boards. I'm 205 lbs, 6 feet tall, and feel like it's a little short for me, and am considering moving up to a 9 foot foamie. Is this a total kook move, and should I just put more hours into the 8 foot, would a 9 foot would be a better fit?

Has anything come close to Dungeon Keeper in recent years?

I don't care for the 'Dungeons' franchise, unfortunately.

IMHO, Evil Genius is as close as any game has ever come, and Evil Genius 2 wasn't anywhere near as 'it' as its predecessor.

Can you think of any base/colony building games where you exist in a world of other colonies that develop, and interact with each other over time?

The number one thing missing for me in most every 'survival crafting' / base building game is that you effectively exist in a social vacuum. I would love to play a Valheim/Enshrouded/Etc... style game where there are other colonies that grow organically, trade with each other, and war on each other, but I just can't seem to find anything that scratches that particular itch.

Anyone have any suggestions?
