Mojave 3 by Phil Nicholls (1998)

"28 years ago today and within walking distance of home at the time, Shooters Hill Road, I was with Mojave 3. A favourite of mine this band, much underrated too I feel.
I shot endless sessions with Mojave 3 and also captured them either side of this incarnation as the incredible Slowdive." - Phil Nicholls

4AD finally have announced a full catalog reissue for Mojave 3!!!

For those unaware, Mojave 3 was an English dream pop/alt country quintet that emerged out of the ruins of the legendary shoegaze group Slowdive. Active between 1995 and 2013, the band's five albums have long been out of print.

For those interested in a time where Lou Reed was able to pull of both a collaborative album and a narrative song cycle, I present Songs for Drella.

It certainly helps that Reed's collaborator for this record is none other than his former Velvet Underground bandmate John Cale.

The album is centered around the life of the late Andy Warhol, a figure both men had a complicated relationship with.
