(Alpine) climber girl here! I have a society & culture podcast with my twin sister, and we’re planning an episode to discuss this newly termed concept.

One thought that’s been bouncing around in my head is that the term (and the idea) feels somewhat reductive to me. Almost like it’s removing agency from women as it assumes we are largely incapable of holding our own out in the alpine. that being said… i’ve totally been sandbagged by climber ex boyfriends before, so I know it’s a very real thing.

I would LOVEE to hear the perspective of other climber girls. Do any of the alpine divorce stories resonate with you? Do you have any issues with the term or the media coverage of it? Any personal anecdotes to share?

Do you all ever post your pod in relevant subreddits ? i’m trying to figure out the best way to do so without it feeling too much like meaningless self-promo. How do you go about sharing with new people in an organic way on reddit? Do you ever share in the comments vs. as a post? Curious to hear others’ experience with this !

There has been SO much buzz around this book, and as a fan of the author + her podcast, Diabolical Lies, I was really eagerly awaiting its release. I read it just a few weeks ago and have SO many thoughts.
