Scene from The Master (2012) | On-Camera Acting Class…Feedback Welcome

This scene is from The Master (2012), starring Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Quell, a troubled World War II veteran struggling with alcoholism.
This was from my on-camera acting class this week. Still putting in the work and learning with every scene.
Always open to constructive criticism and feedback. 🎬

Round 3 😂 Went back and had the retouching pulled way back. Better?

Hopefully I finally got it right 😂 These should have a lot more of my natural skin texture and character. Different mix of photos this time too. And I promise this will be the last headshot post you see from me… unless I get new ones 😂

Different photo, same question — what character would you cast me as?

No résumé. No background. No hints. Based only on this photo, what specific character or role comes to mind first?

Based on this photo alone, what character would you cast me as?

No résumé. No background. No hints. Just based on my look, what’s the first character or role that comes to mind? Be specific

You guys absolutely roasted my first headshots 😂 I listened. Hired a professional photographer. Round 2… did we get it right this time?

A few days ago I posted my first headshots here and you guys gave me a ton of feedback about the background, lighting, expression, wardrobe, and overall quality.
I actually listened 😂
I hired a professional photographer, worked on showing more range, and tried to get away from just looking “intense” in every shot.
I have a pretty specific look…..bald, muscular, heavily tattooed, including my head and neck…. are these better? Pick the best/worst. I need help !

New actor with a very specific look which headshots work best?

I’m pretty new to acting and trying to get my headshots/profile together.
I have a pretty specific look… bald, muscular and heavily tattooed including my head and neck.
Which of these would you actually use for casting? And what type/roles do you see when you look at them?
Be honest lol. I’m trying to figure out which ones help me and which ones I should get rid of.

Do agents ever take a chance on someone who’s still green but has a very specific look? Bald, jacked and heavily tattooed — head, neck, hands and arms.

I know I’m out of my lane.. I know I have minuscule experience… I know being on a docuseries doesn’t mean a ticket. However I’m willing and have been putting in the work. I try hard every single day. I may be hit with rejection after rejection and thats ok. I may get an audition and totally blow it.. I may even land a role and embarrass myself and everyone else. That doesn’t mean I stop trying. That doesn’t mean I give up. There just isn’t enough evidence yet to abandon the ambition. So I guess my question is do agents or managers ever take a chance on someone at this stage? Someone who is still green but has a distinct look and is willing to work their ass off and learn? I’m in the NY/NJ area, so that’s the market I’m most curious about.
I’ll just keep on keeping on either way.

Looking for Agent or Manager Representation — NY/NJ

I’m looking to connect with an agent or manager in the NY/NJ area and could use some advice on the best way to go about it.
I was featured on a Paramount+ series and recently started pursuing more acting and on-camera work through Actors Access and Backstage. A few days ago, I was on a podcast with Jessica Shaw, and I also have some other things in the works with Paramount.
I have a pretty distinct/castable look — muscular build, tattoos, bald head — and I feel like there’s a lane for me if I can get in front of the right people.
If anybody knows someone who’s looking to take on new clients, let me know!

Couples Therapy Season 5 unexpectedly put me on TV — where can someone realistically go from there?

I was on Couples Therapy Season 5 with my wife, and the whole experience introduced me to a world I honestly never expected to be part of.

I’m not someone who came up through entertainment. I’m a regular working guy from New Jersey with a lot of life experience, and I ended up on television simply being myself.

What surprised me most was what happened afterward. People connected with our story, reached out to us, and genuinely seemed invested in who we were. It made me start wondering whether this experience could actually become something more.

I’d absolutely be interested in doing more unscripted television if the right opportunity came along. I’ve also started exploring acting and other on-camera opportunities, but I’m under no illusion that appearing on one show suddenly makes me an actor or guarantees me anything.

So I’m genuinely curious, especially from anyone who understands the unscripted/reality television business:

Can someone realistically build more television opportunities from an experience like Couples Therapy?

Do producers remember people who connected with audiences on other shows? Does already having experience being comfortable and authentic on camera help? Can one show actually open doors to another?

Or is every new opportunity basically starting from zero again?

I’m not looking for people to tell me what I want to hear. I’m genuinely interested in understanding how this side of the industry works — and whether there’s something here worth continuing to pursue.

Couples Therapy S5 unexpectedly put me on TV at 45. Is there something here worth building on?

Couples Therapy S5 gave me an unexpected opportunity to experience television firsthand — and it left me wondering what else might be possible.

Since then, I’ve been exploring unscripted television, acting, and other on-camera opportunities while trying to learn as much as I can about this industry.

I’m not a trained actor. I’m a down-to-earth, hardworking guy with determination, grit, and a whole lot of life experience. I didn’t take the traditional path into this business — I found my way here by being myself.

So I have a genuine question for those of you who actually know this industry:

From your experience, do you think someone with my background and an unconventional start in television has something worth building on?

I’m not looking for people to tell me what I want to hear. I’d genuinely value honest opinions — even if the answer isn’t what I’m hoping to hear.

[In Progress] [5.3k] [Memoir] Now I Understand Him

I’m looking for beta readers for the opening of an in-progress memoir, Now I Understand Him.
The memoir follows my life from childhood into increasingly destructive behavior, addiction, and eventually recovery and redemption. The opening chapters focus heavily on childhood: family instability, behavioral problems, schools and therapy, friendship, and the moments of freedom and normal childhood happiness mixed in between.
This is deeply personal material, and I’m specifically looking for reader reaction rather than line editing at this stage.
I’d like to know:
• Did you genuinely want to keep reading?
• Where did you feel emotionally connected—or disconnected?
• Which scenes stayed with you afterward?
• Was anything confusing, repetitive, slow, or overexplained?
• What questions did the opening leave you wanting answered?
• Most importantly: would you voluntarily read the next chapter?
I’m especially interested in feedback from people who do not know me personally, because I want to know whether the story works without already knowing the person behind it.
Content notes: childhood trauma, family dysfunction, substance use, behavioral issues, and discussion of childhood sexual abuse.
The current reader sample contains the Prologue and Chapters 1–3, followed by a short feedback questionnaire. I’m happy to share the PDF privately with interested beta readers.
I’m not looking for reassurance or compliments. Thoughtful, candid criticism is genuinely welcome.
