I got a nasty scratch on my brand new car from opening the garage door while the hatch was open. You can see in the image where a protruding screw dug into the panel, and it also did some damage to the bottom edge of this panel as well as underneath the panel.

I purchased everything I need to do the touch up, and I've done plenty of research on how to do the job properly, but I'm looking for advice on how to handle the small chips on the edge of the panel. I'd like to make this edge smooth again, and I'm curious if anyone has any tips or has experience with similar damage.
