Never imagined bunnies could look so menacing
I’ve seen Watership Down but these sandersonii bunnies are really giving off a stormtrooper vibe .
Usually they seem so ‘cheery’ .

I doubt I am the only unfortunate person to encounter this dilemma, but for some reason I can't find info on this problem. (or only posts with no replies) Is it a taboo to ask about? Every now and then I notice some plants doing poorly and realize its because of thrips or aphids. Unfortunately I don't have year round access to mantids, ladybugs, lacewings etc so I end up dead heading the plant or removing it. Are there any safe methods to get rid of these pests while keeping my springtails, shrimp and isopods safe? Does something like Imidacloprid affect things that are not trying to eat tissue or sap? (can I remove plant, remove substrate from roots, treat plant then rinse it off and put it back?
Are you still a skater if you don’t skate ? I skated regularly on my banana board as a kid and as a teen I skated day and night from the mid 80s to early 90s. However for 25years I only stepped on a board a handful of times. During that absence, I always maintained interest in skateboarding and would seek out and visit skateshops around the world on my travels. I also taught and encouraged my kids to skate and be aware of skatepark etiquette. While I felt I was still part of the skate tribe I also kinda felt like I was an imposter for not skating. Was my skate identity crisis justified ? (I’m back to regular skating so I feel ‘ whole’ again .)
Just after Covid, I was lucky (?) to see a nice frame and fork at the curb for disposal. It was lucky that the scrappers didn't already pick it up and now I had a new project to work on, however it was unlucky in that it led me down a rabbit hole of parts and tools, none of which were in my parts bin or toolchest. The frame was sized for 26" rims but the rest was sized for bmx (BB, seatpost, hub, etc). This was before Bikelife became mainstream, so it was a real learning curve and hunt to get parts (within a tight budget). Turns out it is a fixed gear freestyle bike and the previous owner was someone I used to follow online (early 2010's). I was having trouble learning fakies, and thought a smaller bike would be easier and less scary... I now have a bunch of BMXs too! Pics of initial set up and almost current set up (laced a new set of MTX33 rims and Masterbikeco hubs but not pictured)
Found my Vision Streetwear DV8s! These are from the late 80s as I got them while working for a local skateshop called Bored of Authority (well work for product, tho I was on the team so got the team discount.) I was used to converse and air walks so the ‘cupsole feeling’ of these threw me off and after a few exploratory sessions they went back into the shoebox and into my closet.
In order to get my hands on a wider variety of Utrics, I ordered some online that will come as "bare-root seedlings". I hope these show up with some 'leaves/stolons' but if not I guess some living tissue will have to do. I was planning on taking whatever shows up, giving them a short soak in distilled water, separating some of the organic mass and removing whatever might look brown and slimy. Then plant half in either wet peat/sand mix and half in wet long fibre sphagnum cups with label tags. These I plan to put in a humid, not too bright, covered propagation box. Does that sound correct? I might also add some springtails.
Note: The image isn't directly related, but included for the picture tax (it's from a small wabi-kusa/deskpond(bog?) I have.
Does anyone know if savory Emping crackers/chips are available in the GTA? Preferably in a bag already cooked (not the sweetend ones). I grew up with these, but they were always prepared from the dried uncooked state (deep fried). I had them as a garnish only once in Toronto (perhaps at Littlesister on Yonge?). I know these are considered Indonesian but I've also had them in Singapore and Malaysia. EDIT: I'd also be ok with a restaurant that offers them as an appetizer or a dish I could order. (the place that had them as a garnish wouldn't let me order more separately)
