Migrating 2+ numbers from Public Mobile

With PM, each number has its own online account. With Koodo, there is one online account for all your numbers (e.g. you and your spouse).

Sounds fine in theory, but I had a lot of trouble because I tried using another e-mail for the 2nd line, and things went totally squirrelly. Koodo basically associated the 2nd line with my 1st online account, but prompted me for the 2nd e-mail...which it accepted, but then would never send the security code.

Time to ditch the %-based RE commission model?

Now that houses cost 7x household income (HHI), even a 4% commission represents 28% (7 x 4%) of HHI. A generation ago, when houses cost 2x HHI, a 6% commission represented 12% (2 x 6%) of HHI.

Time to move those commissions closer to the historical average relative to HHI.

Parents fell for a scam. I was able to neutralize but how do I prevent this from happening again?

My parent fell for a phone scam. Between me and the bank, we were able to neutralize some of the damage. How do I make sure this can never happen again?

I'm already on his bank accounts which is why the bank was willing to answer a bunch of questions. What else can we put in place to stop this from happening again?

*scam in case it helps anyone:

-called my dad repeatedly saying they were from RCMP Cyber crime and people from the bank were stealing his money
-convinced my dad to go to sephora and get $1000 in gift cards and send them the codes.

Is banking website security (e.g. 2FA) at major banks safe from a potentially "compromised" computer?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask. To make a long story short, a family member accessed some sketchy websites. Nothing was downloaded and I have no particular reason to suspect a virus otherwise, but as I understand simply accessing some websites can cause malware to be installed.

I wanted to ask, are things like 2FA/MFA and modern securities on banking websites typically enough to prevent malware access to accounts? I'm hesitant to login on my computer but don't know if I'm overthinking it, either. TIA!

Are commissions out of whack with HH incomes?

A generation ago commissions were 6%, but home prices were a much lower multiple of HH incomes.

Today, with home prices a much higher multiple of HHI, even 4% results in a much higher bite out of HH incomes.

What's the solution, fixed-fee commissions?

CX-5 pricing in Canada

Our son is considering buying/leasing a CX-5 GS AWD in Canada.

Car Cost Canada shows the dealer/retail prices as $37,071/$39,200. How much can he reasonably expect to pay for this vehicle?

Tangerine bank stole 106k please help?

My
Mom is frantic because she went to withdraw some money from her investment account at tangerine and she noticed 106k missing they also changed her phone number to receive notifications to some random phone number that’s how she knew something was off. It looks like they created some other account unknown to her and transferred out all her money. Tangerine claims they are investigating and would return her money but it’s been 2 weeks and she can’t seem to get hold of anyone. She suspects it must be internal because no one else has her info or password for that bank and she stated she even recently changed it. Who can she go to this bank is so weird that there’s no head office or no one you can actually speak to.

Inverter a/c: the way of the future?

Comparable price to single-stage units, but honestly, I can't even hear the thing from inside the house.

Is this the end of non-inverter units?

Credit Karma alerted me to someone opening lines of credit and credit cards in my name at 3 institutions - looking for advice on what I have to do.

Hi everyone,

2 days ago, Credit Karma flagged me with a bunch of alerts asking if I had opened a line of credit and credit card with BMO, and if I had requested inquiries for similar accounts with RBC and CIBC.

I followed their advice and contacted Equifax and Transunion and have filed a dispute with transunion, as well as putting out alerts on any future inquiries.

Is there anything else that should be done? I walked over to my local BMO asking if they had any new accounts for me, and they said they did not have any open accounts when I showed them my ID - but my credit reports indicate the 10,000 BMO line of credit is a bit over balance already.

I don't want to get screwed for not addressing anything soon enough. Is there anyone else who should be contacted? My credit score dropped from 873 to 832 from all this, which is probably the least of it. Someone seems to have my info and is taking out credit anywhere and everywhere. There is an address in Brampton, ON that was added to my credit reports - maybe it is them, maybe it is the address of some other sap who isn't the culprit. Is there a specific authority I contact with this information?

Any advice means a lot to me.

EDIT - thanks to everyone who chimed in. I went back to BMO with my credit union reports and they found the line of credit - the phone number, address, and email were not mine. Not entirely sure why they didn't see it the first time, might have been the fact that only one of my middle names appears on my credit file? Filing with the police, then going back to the banks with the police report (BMO said an active report would help move things along). With the all the info that that showed up on the credit report, I'm hoping they might catch the POS.
