Phone call issues

Does anyone else have these issues:

Both my boyfriend and I have these problems.

Sometimes our phones won’t ring, the person on the other line says it rings a normal amount of rings and goes to voice mail. I can see that they leave a message but I never heard it ring and it doesn’t show up in my recent calls list.

Also sometimes when I am talking to people they suddenly cannot hear me. I can hear them just fine.

I know it’s not our phone themself because it happens on both our phones and it used to happen on our old phones as well.

It’s a mystery to the person I was talking to at Koodo…

Anyone have experience with this and know how to fix it?

Plan price increase to switch us to Telus?

My 30$ 60gb have been replaced for the last three months by a 37$ one. I never got the time to called and ai did it today.

This was my first increase since Im become a koodo customer in 2016.

After speaking with useless customer service who said every plan have increase fee, I obviously been tranfered to retention.

When I told him a 7$ increase in one shot was insane, he said, "you right. Its made for you to call us so we can offer you a better deal" ( yeah, yeah )

So, without any threating to leave or anything he offer me the same 30$/month but with Telus. They will mail me a sim Card. They even credit me the 3x 7$ I paid in overcharge in the last 3 months.

So in the end, I got a:

50$ plan

-10$ because in on credit card

-10$ fidelity retention rebate for 24 months.

=30$ for 100Gb plus another 50gb (which of course I will never use since I used 20gb average a month)

Like he said himself, just call back in 2 years and we will get you a similar deal. Seem fair enough.

So, did Telus make a evil plan to make us switch to Telus main business so their stock market listing look better and if a majority of people just doesnt called, they make 7$/month more by ~~idiots~~ customer?

Avoid Koodo Internet

My activation date was supposed to be June 30th. I received a revised activation email for July 1st. July 2nd and my modem still has the online light flashing. The reps are not anymore helpful than the video tutorial and insisted a technician will come tomorrow. I don’t understand what a technician can possibly do as it’s 2 cables and straight forward. They shipped out my new hardware this morning and I’m having doubts it’ll make a difference. This has been a complete nightmare and I genuinely regret going with Koodo.

Refurbished Phone but the battery is 88%??

I bought a refurbished iPhone 15 pro max and honestly I was under the impression that they replaced the batteries before reselling the phone, but no, the battery of the phone is already at 88%. I feel misled. Yes, I can replace the battery, but that could be up to $135. I was under the impression that the phone would have already had the battery refurbished.

Has anyone else experienced this and did Koodo do anything about it if you contacted them?

Koodo plan for Ireland

Wife and I are going to Ireland this August for 2 weeks. We have never traveled international before. In fact even when we go to the US, which now we dont, we never used our phones. We would use free wifi for messenger.

I am fine not texting or using my phone the entire time. Picture taking sure, and free wifi where ever. Wife thinks we should have one phone active in case.

What plans are good for a temporary use like this? I dont care if I have data the entire time there. IN fact Id be fine not even having a phone for 2 weeks.

EDIT: I know many have mentioned Esims, but I guess the Samsun Galaxy A5 isnt compatible

Getting tired of the runaround from this company all the time with their horrible customer service and rates being hiked every 3 months.

Canada’s wireless fee ban is being tested across the whole brand maze: Fido, Virgin, Lucky, Koodo, Public, Freedom, Fizz and more

Not breaking news, more of a follow-up/watchdog thread.

The CRTC’s ban on activation/modification fees took effect on June 12. Since then, the focus has mostly been on Rogers, Bell and Telus, but that misses a big part of how Canada’s wireless market actually works.

Customers don’t only see “the Big Three.” They see dozens of brands.

Rogers family: Rogers, Fido, chatr
Bell family: Bell, Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile
Telus family: Telus, Koodo, Public Mobile
Quebecor/Vidéotron family: Vidéotron, Fizz, Freedom Mobile
Regional/MVNO layer: Eastlink, SaskTel, Tbaytel, Cogeco Mobile, PC/No Name Mobile and others

And the network/antenna situation makes it even more confusing.

Some brands are just flankers owned by the same parent company.
Some are prepaid brands running on the same network.
Some are regional carriers with their own towers plus roaming deals.
Some are MVNOs that sell service but use another carrier’s network.

So when a fee shows up at Fido, Virgin, Lucky, Koodo, Public, chatr, Fizz or another brand, it should not be treated as separate from the bigger carrier ecosystem.

Confirmed examples already worth watching:

Bell / Virgin Plus: $40 device handling charge
Rogers / Fido: $40 device setup charge
Telus: $15 SIM/eSIM fee
Freedom Mobile: appears to have backed off on some fees/requirements after the CRTC ban

That last one matters. If one carrier can adjust after the rule, why are others trying to preserve similar fees under new names?

Are activation fees disappearing, or are they being renamed across the whole Canadian wireless brand maze?

If you were charged anything since June 12, please comment with:

Brand:
Parent company/network, if known:
Fee name:
Amount:
Date:
Online, store, phone or chat:
Was it waived?

Anyone know how to actually reach a human at Koodo customer service?

I've tried calling several times now, selecting different menu options each time, and every single time the same thing happens: a brief hold, then a "goodbye/au revoir" and the call just ends. No agent, no callback, nothing.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a specific number, menu path, or time of day that actually gets you through to a real person? Starting to wonder if their phone system is just broken.

Switched my perk to the "3-day easy roam international", any examples on how it will work?

Going to be in the UK on July 5 onwards, first time using the easy roam perk, from your experience, is there anything I need to be aware with the easy roam or will it work automatically?

Porting out main line from Koodo, what happens to second line plan on the account?

If I have a primary line and I also added a second line with a cheaper plan, I am not sure if its a promo but I don't see the second line price listed under byod phone plans on the website, will I keep the pricing for that second line if it becomes the only line on the account or the plan will be changed to an in market plan automatically?

Temporary Suspension of Koodo Service While Abroad – Will I Keep My Number and Receive OTPs?

Hi everyone,

I'll be outside Canada for a couple of months and I'm considering temporarily suspending my Koodo mobile service instead of canceling it.

I have a few questions:

  1. If I suspend my service, will I keep my current phone number?
  2. Will I still be able to receive SMS verification codes (OTPs) while the service is suspended?
  3. Will I continue to be charged my monthly plan fee during the suspension period, or is there a reduced fee/no fee?
  4. Is there anything else I should be aware of before suspending the service?

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this before. Thanks.

Does "Review a charge" work for anybody else?

Context:

I switched to Public mobile so now my Koodo account is cancelled, but it's still accessible for the next 3 months

Apparently since I canceled my plan halfway through I should be getting a partial refund, but when I submit the request to "review my charges" it dosen't work

Tried it 3 times on 3 separate days, on 3 separate devices, and it still didn't work-

Went on Koodo assist for help. The AI couldn't help me cause technically my phone number isn't with them anymore. Called a rep and they asked for my SIN number, but I couldn't find where I wrote it down at that moment.

So now I'm wondering if I should just wait and pray for my refund, or if I should just call again tomorrow

But I do think that.... this should've been a REALLY EASY fix if the "review a charge" button actually worked, so I don't know if something is wrong on my end or if the Koodo website is just bad.

TLDR: I want to know if the "review a charge" button on the Koodo site actually works or not cause I really need to use it
