Is Dave actually wrong about the Debit card Fraud protection?

I know on reddit its a popular trope that this is the biggest lie ever and Dave Ramsey is wrong about there being zero liability fraud protection on the debit cards. As far as I can tell though he is not wrong about Visa and Mastercard offering zero liability on their debit cards. Now an EFT transaction (with the pin) over regional debit networks might be a different story but usually when Dave speaks on this subject he specifically mentions the Visa and Mastercard agreement which he is not wrong about at all. A lot of retailers and restaurants also do not even use EFT and every transaction runs over Mastercard and Visa networks and would be covered by the agreement. To me slow refund times, credit issues ect are actually a seperate issue altogether and do not make Dave Ramsey incorrect about the Visa and Mastercard debit card agreements. Every time this comes up there are a million redditors and even on you tube guys screaming no no no no don't do this he's wrong incorrect rrreeeeee like Freaky Niki. What he is saying generally seems to be correct to me though even if it may not be true about EFT transactions depending on the bank.

Freedom Model is good but it goes too far.

So long story short I had a falling out after several years with AA. It turned out my sponsor and probably most of the old timers were probably not even real alcoholics, their stories were bullshit, shares were bullshit, the entire thing was a bullshit rodeo. My sponsor in particular was just a fraud in general as far as I could tell and I was doubtful he ever worked as a therapist his claimed profession. So I overnight I decided I cannot deal with 3-10 hours of bullshit a week anymore and fled AA dropped all officer positions.

I got introduced to the Freedom Model by reddit and it was a great read and the podcast is also great. The problem was they go a little bit to far about it not being a disease. I believed them that there is no disease and we probably can learn to moderate. I eventually went and tried this and it worked for a single day where I could control it and drink 4 beers. It immediately the next fucking day went back to me drinking 15-30 drinks. I tried this multiple times over a few months and could not keep it under 10 drinks no matter how hard I tried. I do not believe its something that can be deconstructed and I read their entire book and listened to a lot of the podcast. I cannot control my drinking and it appears to me AA was right and freedom model was wrong at least about me.

I still think a lot of what they say is really good and there are probably people that can learn to moderate. I am most definitely not one of those and the irony is while I would never go back to AA my resentment towards them all definitely led me to a relapse they were right about that. I'm not sure why I even thought trying to moderate was a good idea after years sober, I feel like I hated AA so much that I wanted to prove them wrong and ended up proving them right. I got 8 months sober again so I'm doing good without AA but man I really had to let my anger and hatred go it got me into a bad spot. I feel like a person with a healthy mind woulda read the freedom model and been like ya know trying to drink after this long isn't worth it. They actually don't even advocate for moderating they just don't ban it.

Accidentally posted this to a real sub. Got the news that we all hate that a department went and got their own AI software solution without talking to IT, we were told to stay out of their way and let them lead. So as usual I was a little pissed off by this but just when I thought it couldn't get worse I went and talked to another apartment head and they said that department was stupid and reckless to spend so much money without talking to IT. They said that they had one of the staff's sons who is really good with computers and cryptocurrency use his claude subscription to make them a free software that is even better for only $20. I'm so done with this profession that is what people think IT is worth a one time $20 and that Claude will build it so perfect they will never have to spend any money again. They don't even want to buy their own claude they want to borrow one from a teenager. Imma go be a nurse fuck this life.

tldr this isn't even a fake scenario its just such a joke I felt bad even posting it on the real sub. Lets have fun guys I'm on suicide watch.

Its insidious the way 12 step programs separate you from your loved ones

I am pleased to say my relationship with my family has been improving but only after I cut ties with AA and ACA altogether. I talk about my piece of shit sponsor the fake therapist on here all the time what he has been up to with another guy has been bothering me though because its basically the same play as me but even worse.

So when I got with this guy as a sponsor in AA he stood up during a session and was like "YOU NEED TO GO TO ACA, I WOULD LIKE YOU TO GO TO ACA". He said it in a very authoritative tone though like the voice in dune and he can jedi mind trick control me. So I had an alcoholic mother but my dad not really dude drinks a few drinks but that's about it. This sponsor would keep trying to push me into "realizing" that my dad is an alcoholic abuser and say I am basically too traumatized to see the truth. My entire experience in ACA was blame the parents o clock but somehow my mom couldn't have been the problem it has to be dad because Fake Therapist Sponsor had a problem with his dad. So eventually I realized that this guy is a bad influence, both AA and ACA are also bad and I left cuz they were ruining my relationship with my family. How could they not none of those guys had any relation with their family. They all burned those bridges in favor of 12 step cults. He was starting to try to push me into Alanon too. He lost his 3rd wife because he started requiring her to attend Alanon and bring a signed sheet back, then when she missed a day he said she was going through the motions and not doing enough for her disease.

So Fake Therapist sponsor is back to his old trick again with this guy I used to drive to meetings. This dude got 3 back to back DWis and ended up on his dads couch. The only reason he isn't homeless is cuz of his dad. He told me that Fake Therapist sponsor basically has told him he needs to go to ACA now too because his disease hid the memories of his father's abuse and Inner Child work will help him to remember the abuser his father always was and is. He is basically being coached to call his Dad an abuser when he doesn't even truly believe he is. He is also being taught that his dad wouldn't be drinking after work if he didn't feel bad about the childhood abuse he surely did and there is no other reason someone would drink. He is being told if they do not go to a 12 steps program he doesn't need to be around them anymore. There is no way this doesn't negatively effect his living situation and that is the point these people want you to have no one so you need them.

When his dad gets tired of being accused he will get thrown out on the street. Will the Sponsor be there to help, AA, ACA? lol nope even though they basically pushed him into that situation. When I say get the fuck out of there I'm the bad guy tho.

Remodeling yourself based off of Frauds

I think the most disturbing thing to me about AA looking back on it and I've been out a year now is seeing good people replace their entire personality with their sick sponsor's personality. Basically become a copy of their sponsor. This issue is problematic on its on its own but is compounded by the fact all of the guru old timer mega sponsors were a bunch of fucking frauds.

My tree of sponsorship was run by an old guy in a wheelchair that probably didn't even have a sponsor of his own. He would name his sponsor if you ask but I had never seen his supposed sponsor anywhere and I was pretty fucking involved. All of this Wannabe Guru's sponsees were professionals doctors, attorneys, and even I was an officer in a smaller insurance org. I have talked on here before about how this guy seemed like a fraud and was likely never really a power therapist and addiction expert like he claimed to be. He also fancied himself to be a big shot political commentator on Facebook lol kinda like a leftwing maga.

It was extremely disturbing seeing these powerful attorney sponsees driving High End BMWs who are for all intents and purposes For Real remodeling themselves and their personality after this Buchmanite Fraud wannabe Guru. They even started adopting his Facebook political commentary they didn't do before, acting just like Daddy. The politics shit on Facebook started causing issues with their friends and family though and they would even talk about how posting their political opinions was costing them friends and family in meetings and maybe they should stop. The Sponsor was adamant thought that they need to keep "BEING AUTHENTIC" that if someone gets mad at you being hyper political its their program that is the problem and you aren't working a good program if you can't post the truth on Facebook.

Wannabe Guru guy seemed really smart at first but the more you listen to him the more toxic it gets. I left him and the program a day after he told me his kids don't speak to him because they don't have a program and they need one, they have Alanonism or even Alcoholism and they just haven't drank enough yet. I kinda bought it but then I snapped when he literally tells me in the same breath the real reason they don't talk to him tho, because he's a twisted psycho AA.

This dude tells me that when he made amends to them he told them that he has no regrets about all the things he did to them because he has a better life in AA now without them and basically God put them through all that pain using him so he could live his best AA life. He would say that Character Defects are actually Blessings from God and if you keep doing fucked up things they must be useful to God, so what's wrong is actually right in the end. He claimed that God was also trying to show them they should be in some kind of AA too so really the abuse was for their own good, God was trying to get them back in the boat. He would also make sure to share for 10 minutes during holidays that he was spending his Holiday with his chosen family which is AA. The idea you get cheers and applause for throwing away your kids for this "program" is disgusting.

You cannot remodel yourself and keep your friends and family when the guy you are modeling yourself after is a Fraud that could not and would not keep his friends and family. He literally chose AA over his family and sees abuse as God at work. This is not somebody you want to trust your soul, your sobriety, or your friends and family with yet he's literally the trustee.

Did the reason you get banned from a certain similar sub to this even make sense?

Got permanently banned from Ass Reddit sub for being an AI lol. Which I was not doing any AI like shit lol my grammar wasn’t even good! A guy in the comments accused me of being an Dunning Kruger Oil Industry shill lol but not quite a bot. It’s like I didn’t really break the rules so they had to pretend I’m not even a person lol.

They make everything about AA.

The other day I was watching a video about a guy training horses talking about training horses. He talked about how one little horse didn't really fit in the normal training program and he had to drop the program and work with her a different way to get her trained. A bunch of AAs heard "drop the program" and were in the comments saying shit like: "Don't listen to this if any of you want to be sober work the program with the sponsor and the big book".

ITS ABOUT HORSES!!!!!

Secure Contain Protect

So our Junior Sysadmin has become increasingly unhinged lately and I'm wondering what can be done. He started hanging out on this strange paranormal 4 chan and subreddit and associating with users named ASSCAKE5 and LOLLYJONSEXCHAD and has become obsessed with these fringe groups he is in. The trouble started when he updated his email signature from IT Analyst one to say SECURE CONTAIN PROTECT. He then started calling our department internally in emails the Mobile Task Forces MTF although we weren't sure what MTF was we had to ask him. He said that was a very astute question from "D - Class personnel". He scheduled his time off with HR and put it on the vacation calendar as "Global Occult Coalition (GOC) luncheon". He had a meeting with HR to discuss his mental health and he came back saying that "she was a Keter class bitch".

Has any one figured out how to contain a SCP Employee?

The stories aren't even true in AA

I've been out coming on a year now and people have been texting me still to come back to AA. How could I ever really sit in those rooms again though now the veil has been lifted from my eyes? I think a lot of these people started out as authentic the rooms slowly bend you into an inauthentic version of yourself though your lows have to be impossibly low and the highs have to be impossibly high. Some of them though like my 2nd sponsor though were collapsed narcissists that basically ran out of a social supply to make them feel important and woulda went wherever they can be a bigshot! AA was just the last house on the block.

You might even have heard this story because this guy goes around wherever he can and I'm gonna try to be respectful and keep it unidentifying. So basically his entire thing was that he was an Alcoholic and also like the top 1% of Addiction Therapists and wrote 6 books on addiction and had the best sports cars and was hanging with strippers and models all the time. Then he decided to be his own sponsor and "Quoted the book but didn't live it". So he had a drink after 8 years and was drunk for 30 days straight, and he left his home to go to his lake house to drink himself to death. The power of AA saved him though and the Christmas card from an AA member or God Himself came to the lake house and he could feel god and he prayed to be saved and was and lived happily ever after in AA.

I loved this story the first time I heard it but it became glaringly obvious to me this guy was not for real. I am doubtful he was ever even a therapist because he is on record in meetings saying mental illness is not actually real and is instead wrong thinking and people that use psych meds are weak. At least one of his sponsees has gone off his meds and ended up in jail. The stripper thing was fake I am from the strip club and was one of those guys and everything he told me is not how it really is, its like a hollywood version of it his depiction of the mid 30s stripper with a heart of gold that stole his heart is very very unlikely. I googled his name to find books they were written by a Harvard guy with the same name lmao but its not him. While googling I found that he made a fake organization that was trying to criminalize being homeless in his neighborhood everyone in the pictures was from AA it may have even been an AA meeting he just took pictures of. He was trying to lobby to make helping the homeless a jailable offense, not for the homeless for the good Samaritan.

Perhaps the worst part though was my biggest fear of all and why I wanted him to sponsor me was that I WAS TERRIFIED OF RELAPSING AND WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME. I thought he could teach me something but instead he was totally a lie and he's in good company they were all equally bullshit in that meeting. The more he lied I started to realize his redemption arc doesn't even make sense who would send a Christmas card to a vacation home he doesn't actually live there most of the time and I've never received a Christmas card from AA at all lol its so unlikely it went down. The 30 day relapse I think was fake too, I actually drank after I left AA and the Alcohol Deprivation Effect happened and I was miserable drinking 15 beers but it did not go down like this guys story at all he made it up, you have to basically be trying to relapse 30 days straight after you have been sober 8 years and I only had 4 years sober. I found after 4 years I didn't really have an addiction anymore but I cannot moderately drink still but I could stop the next day. I really felt like he wanted to come back to AA and so he made the relapse worse then it woulda been to have a good story to be accepted back. A TRUE ALCOHOLIC would know after 8 years sober too that its probably gonna take you some years to die drunk too and you can't really end it leaving las vegas style we have all tried. The entire lakehouse plot itself is something a fairly young Alcoholic would conceive or someone who thinks they understand Alcoholism but doesn't, we have all tried this someone with as much experiences as he supposedly had wouldn't have really been doing that. The guy is probably not for real and just a miserable collapsed narcissist little bitch that is in AA cuz its the only place people are forced to listen to him.

Nobody should really know you are in recovery

Let me tell you about how AA basically set me up for social problems. Despite all the literature and traditions stressing Anonymity as being the foundation of our spiritual success. What you learn after being in the program for 4 or 5 years maybe sooner if you are smart is that Anonymity is really just about protecting the program from the Press and is not respected at all in the rooms. You will be paraded around as "IN RECOVERY" or an "Exemplary AA" at every chance. You will be encouraged to come out of the closet like a gay person as in Recovery, to be honest with everyone friends, family, doctors, employers about being in recovery, you find out that literally the only time Anonymity is respected is if you dare talk to a reporter or go live or something. If you go to an AA meeting in a church and go to one of the Churches services or events literally everyone will say you are from AA and you will see them pointing at you and already know your anonymity is gone. You are only Anonymous to the Press contrary to what the other sub claims you will never have Anonymity in the program.

So after being indoctrinated for years and years I found my entire identity was being a Recovering Alcoholic this made me really popular in AA. Once I started hanging out with normies though and left the program saying I'm a recovering alcoholic or in recovery it has not actually gone well and made me an outcast in social outings I would have been fine in if I had just shut the fuck up and said I don't drink rather than mention the recovery cult at all. Best case is people don't care but at least half the time they see me as a ticking time bomb, a cautionary tale of what will happen to them, or they perceive imaginary judgement from me because that is stereotype AA behavior. Most people know jack shit about AA but they have been taught by the media if someone stops going they will be dead soon and that is how they see me.

I was going to this "normie" class that I really enjoyed and all the women in it were so nice to me and I was friends with everyone. Once I admitted I was in recovery though and ex AA the entire vibe changed, everyone basically shunned me and even changed their stories on social media to where I can't see them. They would be talking about going to a restaurant or something and would be like lets go talk somewhere else there is liquor there he doesn't need to hear it. Several of the women in there don't drink and I would have been fine if I said I don't drink but the second its about "recovery" they felt like they had to protect me from myself and honestly I blame AA more than I do them, AA created this entire concept that if the triangle can't have me no one else can either. You will always face judgement being in recovery, while in contrast just saying you don't drink has 1/10th the stigma around it that the entire AA lifestyle has.

There is really only 3-6 months of Material in AA

There is really only the Big Book and the 12 and 12. As Bill Sees it and the Daily Reflection basically pull everything from one of those two books and the 12 and 12 is really just a deep dive on the Big Book with some extra shit thrown in. I do not know how these old timers actually act like they have this immense knowledge and wisdom there isn't any knowledge to even have. There is 164 pages of shit, its actually less than that if it was spaced differently its more akin to a Novella then the Bible. I was shocked when I started really getting to know these Old Timers that I understood the entire program better than them because I had just read it fresh and somehow they all do and think things that are not supported by the literature at all. They always talk about how the new guys think they know it all and are the smartest blah blah blah but I was in for 4 years and it usually was the new people who were smarter then the old timers. My Sponsor was like the final boss sponsor in AA and is considered one of the most valuable members a 35 year guru who pioneered treatment and recovery in rehabs all over the country. I'm convinced he was always a loser and a fraud and he just stuck around until he looked legit.

I caught on that he did not know what he was talking about and could not have really been this person when I told him the 12 and 12 is not working out in the rehabs the literacy rate is too low and these people cannot even remember being sober much less relate to it nobody likes it, its better suited for people with a little time when they get out and maybe the plain language big book might go better. He said that as Bill Sees it is the obvious choice for a rehab. HOW THE FUCK IS THAT EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE. As Bill Sees it covers emotional sobriety and topics for people with years of sobriety, how is that gonna work for people who are still fucked up in a rehab. Anyone who had even visited a rehab would know that most of those people can barely handle the big book.

I swear 90% of the old timers probably never really read the 164 and they stuck around out of spite because they were told they were fucked in the head so they were determined to stick around and remake AA in their twisted image.
