Basicamente, hoje ela me contou que decidiu (de forma repentina, sem conversar comigo) fazer um semestre de arquitetura noturno enquanto mantém seu emprego atual.

É claro que ela tem meu apoio para buscar educação superior, mas eu não apoiei automaticamente por alguns motivos.

O principal deles é que ela tem enfrenta grandes dificuldades durante toda a sua vida adulta devido ao transtorno bipolar e à depressão. Ela já abandonou a faculdade três vezes (incluindo a faculdade de arquitetura) e nessas ocasiões não trabalhava em tempo integral e contava com o apoio total dos pais para se dedicar exclusivamente aos estudos.

Seu emprego atual é o primeiro dela (embora seja muito confortável), e ela mal tem energia e força psicológica para enfrentar o dia a dia como está, e é bastante sincera comigo sobre como o 9 às 5 é muito desgastante para ela.

Fiquei muito preocupado que mergulhar em uma rotina de trabalho extremamente exigente, mesmo para pessoas mentalmente saudáveis, possa ser demais para ela. Pode ser frieza, mas sinceramente, prevejo que ela desista bem rápido, quando não conseguir lidar com a enorme demanda, a responsabilidade, a exigência de tempo e a carga psicológica de tudo isso simultaneamente. Desistir seria extremamente frustrante para ela, além de ser uma péssima decisão financeira para nós neste momento.

Para contextualizar, estou cursando engenharia e vou me formar daqui a alguns anos. Para completar, vou estudar no exterior por alguns meses em uma bolsa de intercâmbio para o qual , ao mesmo tempo em que ela pretende começar a estudar, e não estarei aqui para cuidar dela nesse período tão exigente.

Deixei bem claro que estou totalmente disposto a apoiar os estudos dela em tempo integral, sem precisar trabalhar, assim que conseguir um emprego, mas ela ainda prefere arriscar, não me dar ouvidos e seguir em frente, apesar dos meu aconselhamento.

Ela ficou bastante chateada por não ter meu apoio total, mesmo que eu sinta que tenho muitos motivos para me preocupar com isso.

Basically today she told me that she decided (pretty studently, without conversating with me at all) to try a semester in architecture while maintaining her day job.

Of course she has my support in pursuing higher education, but I wasn't on board automatically for a few reasons.

The main being she has struggled hard all her adult life with bipolar disorder and depression. She has already dropped out of college 3 distinct times (including architecture school), and at those times she wasn't working full time and had her parents full support in maintaining her studies exclusively.

Her current job is her first one (although a very confortable one), and she barely has the energy and psychological strength to go trough her days as it is, and is pretty open with me on how taxing a 9 to 5 is very hard for her.
I got very worried that jumping on work routine that is extremely demanding even for mentally healthy people may be too much for her. Its cold, but to be honest I foresee her dropping out pretty quickly, when her cant deal with the huge demand, responsibility, time demand and psychological load of everything simultaneously. Dropping out would be extremely frustrating to her or even haunting, besides a bad financial decision for us right now.

For context, I am in engineering school and will be done with it in a few years. To top it off, I am going to study abroad for some months on a paid exchange internship I was selected for a few months next semester, at the same time she intends to start studying, and I wont be here to take care of her at this very demanding period.

I have made clear I am fully willing to support her studies full time without needing to work as soon as I have job, but she still rather risk, not listen and go for it besides my best advice.

She got pretty mad not having my full support by default, even if I feel I have many reasons to be worried about it.
