Syringes? (Newbie question)

Hi- just got approved to start 0.25mg weekly via midi to help w the perimeno weight that diet and exercise just aren’t able to manage on their own- haven’t yet started, am reading up for tips

I notice many people here split their doses for various reasons, including to manage side effects (this is what I’m thinking about, as someone who is prone to reflux and other GI issues anyway.)

When y’all split, what are the additional needles you buy to spread the dosing out? What should i look for online?

Also i noticed a few folks here use injection devices- i looked them up and there seem to be different types and sizes- what do folks recommend?

I’m new to any kind of injections and have zero idea what to expect— any guidance is welcome!

Ty in advance!

Help: dry dock setup for 3-tied box turtle

Hi- i will not post pictures, but i do need some support here

I am trying very hard not to direct blame at any of my family members because it is not helpful at this point, and b/c the family is so upset that i am sure everyone is learning the terrible lesson without further pressure. So please, be kind- i am just looking for setup advice in the event that my little guy, whom I’ve had for almost 30 years now, is able to come home.

Yesterday a neighbor in our building called- they had found an injured box turtle in her ground-floor yard. Our turtle had apparently gotten out to our balcony unsupervised and squeezed past the planters lining the perimeter and through the railing, falling three stories to the neighbor’s patio on the ground level. Our stories are tall, too, so i estimate the fall was about 30 feet. He was found with two gashes on his left foreleg, little damage to his carapace, but significant damage to his plastron, including fractures near or along his front hinge.

I was at work but my husband rushed him to the one emergency vet who specializes in shelled reptiles. They called me after a few hours to say that when they received him, he released 3ml of water from his mouth, and they were concerned about drowning (we have had flash floods and heavy rains in our area off/on all week, including the night before, which is when he likely got out - we had brought him in from his balcony enclosure and let him free roam in the apt that night to avoid the stress of the storm winds & any puddling in his enclosure from the heavy rain. We should have either put him in his indoor enclosure, or we should have double-checked that every door was fully closed if he was free roaming while we slept. We messed up. I’m so upset about this. So upset.). They were prepared to recommend euthanasia at that point but also wanted to check his lungs before making that recommendation.

Radiograph showed his lungs were clear, at least as of yesterday, so they held off on recommending euthanasia and instead started assessing the rest of his condition. They stabilized his bleeding and tended to his cuts, then stabilized his foreleg in a tucked position to reduce movement stress. They are concerned about internal fractures on the plastron— the way they described them to me (they were using layperson language, but they could have been more specific, I’d have known what they were talking about, i was just too in shock to tell them to be more specific), i think the fractures are likely on or across the hinge, pectoral, and/or humeral scutes.

They kept him overnight, giving antibiotics and pain medication (morphine primarily) and will be doing more scans this morning and will make an assessment today. I am. So. Nervous.

IF we can bring him home alive, he will need to be dry docked for a while and kept in a very sanitary enclosure.

His outdoor enclosure has a soil substrate with lots of live plants growing in it, so that’s a no-go.

His indoor enclosure has a soil, moss, bark and leaf litter substrate, and that’s a no-go.

Both current enclosures also have large bathing pools that are deep ceramic pie plates— large enough for him to soak in, easy to toss in the dishwasher for sanitizing. Those are likely no-gos.

I’ve never had to dry-dock him before- What should i have ready for a proper dry dock situation for a 3-toed box turtle with one foreleg bandaged so that he cannot use it, and, likely, lots of stabilizers on his ventral side? What do i need to help him recover, if it turns out that recovery is possible?

Thank you in advance.

Also, if you have any encouragement or stories about turtles who have survived shell fractures after a fall, please share those. I need some hope today. Thank you in advance for hope, too.

Submental fat? Laxity issue? Both? What to do…?

Hi- am turning 50 v soon and in the last year or two my chin/neck have been driving me nuts in almost every pic i see of myself. I’m usually a pretty confident person, but i realllly dislike this part of aging and i’m starting to get in my head about it a bit.

Was thinking about getting something done a year or two from now, but as it turns out, i have to go to a Seoul for something this month and *could* do something while I’m there. And the more pics i see of myself, the more i want to do something about it.

Caveats: i will only be in Seoul for about a week, and i won’t have much downtime while there or after i get back. Also have not budgeted for anything major yet, as i wasn’t planning for this visit to happen this summer. Have about $1k US that i can work with, maybe $2k if i stretch.

Will nest a pic in the comments (i just deleted my first post about this, b/c i couldn’t stand seeing the embedded photo roll up in the sub) so you can get a sense of it-

would ulthera be a good move here? Onda? Something else?

Lmk what you think would be a viable intermediate help to me until i can plan a trip w a more impactful procedure in mind maybe a year or year and a half from now. And if there’s a clinic you have in mind/ can recommend, I’m open to all suggestions! Thank you in advance!

I know FDA-cleared sunscreens are reimbursable & that you can use an hsa/fsa debit card to purchase them, but is that true for Asian/ non-fda sunscreens as well?

(I recently did the math on how much i spend on Asian sunscreen in a year and while i have no regrets, i would not decline a reimbursement either….)

Tired of scheming queen dowagers and CEOs who wave a black card to solve everyone’s problems? Sick of real life’s insane news cycle and uammering politians? Need a break from sketchy health advice or people trying to sell you something every time your eyes land somewhere?

If so, do not sleep on this show.

It’s one of the most charming, most family-friendly, wholesome, soul-healing shows out there, imho. The three main workers and the local villagers who come through are so charming on their own, but the celeb cameos as their friends and colleagues from previous activities also add to the charm (good lord, Rain is the most beautiful man, how does his skin still look that flawless?? He does not age…!)

I enjoy it anyway, but sometimes after a weird day reading about violence, war, climate crisis, and whatever insane thing my nation’s politicians have blurted out on X or whatever, this show is my favorite brain cleanser before bed/ keeps the nightmares away/ restores my faith that good people are out there doing normal, healthy things in the small towns and villages of the world…

Just throwing it out there in case anyone’s been meaning to check it out but keeps forgetting

It’s so *nice* !
