Christmas Eve 2023 we found out that Yuki was heartworm positive and it was causing her some breathing issues and coughing. We've been giving her a monthly heartworm preventative to kill eggs and had to do some rounds of steroids and antibiotics to help with inflammation in her lungs as a result of the heartworm. Typically, heartworm cats has a 25% survival rate because it affects the pulmonary arteries and lung tissue instead of the heart and there is no treatment for it in cats.

Today we officially got the blood test results back that she no longer has heartworm antibodies and antigens in her system. So she's officially in the clear. Let's all crack open a can of Fancy feast, creamy Delights in celebration.
