This banned Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode became the most bootlegged one in TV history (1962)

Made this one myself — Revlon (the sponsor) pulled it before broadcast, so it never got a proper copyright registration and ended up floating around public domain for decades. That’s why it’s in every bargain-bin Hitchcock set. Happy to answer questions on it! I grew up a Gen X kid obsessed with all things Hitchcock. Especially the reruns of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, after school like clock work.

Larry Kert (Broadway’s original Tony in West Side Story) and Diana Dors (“the British Marilyn Monroe”) on the set of a 1962 Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode that never aired

Fun bit of trivia: this episode was written by Robert Bloch, author of Psycho, and got banned by the show’s own sponsor for being too dark for 1962 primetime. Full story in the comments if anyone’s curious.

Revlon banned this Hitchcock episode from airing in 1962 — written by the author of Psycho

“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (S7) is one of the more obscure entries in the Hitchcock Presents catalog, and there’s a good reason for that: it never aired. Robert Bloch — who wrote the novel Psycho two years earlier — wrote the script, and Revlon, the show’s sponsor, decided it was too dark and gruesome for their audience and pulled it before broadcast.

It’s also one of only two episodes of the entire series that’s in the public domain, which is the only reason most people can watch it today.

Cast-wise it’s a strange mix: Larry Kert (Broadway’s original Tony in West Side Story) as a trapeze artist, and Diana Dors (“the British Marilyn Monroe”) as a scheming character named Irene. The ending is one of the better twists in the whole seven-year run.

Full breakdown + the episode itself here: https://youtu.be/qS8hG-GC-yE?is=K05gzIqiztGF9RBv Has this one come up here before? It seems to fly under the radar even among people who know the show well.

The Madonna Album That Made Me See Her Differently #shorts

Ray of Light didn’t sound like anything she’d done before — or anyone else. I turned 30 around its release, and for the first time, I saw her as an artist, not just a pop star. This is one story from my full episode on 40 years as Madonna’s first teenage fan — watch it now: https://youtu.be/HEK-p1PwYG0?is=pfU2fAb7TJwaTNqO

Nicole Daedone, still looking for Trump pardon.

Join me tomorrow on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@thesilvergaychap I’m speaking out for the first time. This ongoing attempt to sweet talk a pardon from the Orange Menace, was beyond the pale. And not shocking after reading Empire Of Orgasm. #nicoledaedone #onetaste #orgasmcult #cult #ellenhuet
