I have been in this sub for years and years. I was here well before 2020 brought a lot of new interest to carbon steel and to be quite frank the state of things are probably the worst I've seen it. There's so much vitriol and negativity toward anyone asking (admittedly already answered) questions. But what would you have replace that activity? What would you rather see? A parade of check out my pan post? That's what google is for. You can google all the carbon steel your heart can desire. A sub of human beings, hopefully, is about communicating and sharing. The people who constantly want to ban post or people or whatever are completely missing the entirety of the point. Sure you might get frustrated and guide people to one post or the FAQ but to be so hostile is a disgrace. Carbon steel always prided itself against the elitism of Cast Iron and honestly the way it's going you shouldn't. I wonder if I've outgrown this sub if the biggest content on it are grownups being mean to each other about hot fucking oil.

edit: Apparently people have taken great umbrage to my call out of cast iron. When I first started here the general sub discussions were about the snobbiness of that sub so...that's it. Not discussing cast iron users only that this sub used to report ill will over there.

i will get on chicfila for a while and off it. by doing so it’s a lot easier to notice big flavor shifts. i minored in packaging science and the company was known for incremental changes constantly even telling the students touring about constantly recipe redevelopment but after taking a recent few months of not eating chicfila I’ve noticed the chicken is so much sweeter. the tenders are near inedible it’s so apparent

I’ve waited to see if anyone would post this as it’s not really making traction anywhere but facebook. Christopher Holdt was attacked in an Anderson parking lot by two armed teenagers. He is a disabled homeless man. The teens removed his breathing tube and beat him severely enough to may lose an eye. by all accounts he was a kind man. I’ve crossed paths around hobby lobby in Anderson a 1/2 dozen times but never thought to see if he was alright. it’s hard now a days. maybe someone on Reddit will know someone who knows something. idk its just a cruel world. not sure what’s worse the fact that it happened or the fact that someone like him was forced onto the street with no state help.

so as I tend to do with reminiscing, I need a name of a Greenville restaurant. in the 90s on wade Hampton there was a restaurant in front of the old movie theater. near where Huey magoos is now. it was a pentagon shape or hexagon. block building with tall pointed roof. it was an ice cream place and diner like thing we used to go after the movies. the dude running the counter taught us to tape the logo on the glass ketchup bottles to get it to pour out faster.

so I bought a paintball gun in the very early 2000’s spyder compact 2000 Java edition from the old first new generation in Easley. the one across from the Los Amigos. super long time ago. I was trying to get it running to play around for a family member and of course its got a crazy leak. I plugged in a bottle and it emptied it without firing a shot. I took it apart and cleaned it and all the seals look good as it wasn’t much used but I cant narrow it down. does anyone know someone who works on/ reconditions these things?

a movie from the early 2000s because the humor was crass and a bit vulgar. there was a paraplegic who got into a fight with the main character and hid quote was “from the knees down your mine, bitch.“ I don’t think it was dodgeball but that’s the only prominent paraplegic character in a comedy I can’t conjure up

I’m trying to find a place addressing my previous post. these two are just too transient and it seems as if no one wants to call you back and I can’t keep up with them.

I cannot for the life find fresh masa (not masa harina) or fresh flour tortillas. I also cant find non-hydrogenated lard but I’d be happy with the first two. I shop at la unica mostly but sometimes los arcos and neither carry them. anyone know where i can get good fresh tortillas flour and corn? Anywhere from Landrum to Townvile. I don’t mind traveling a bit.
