UPDATE: Roman found a home

Original post for context: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rottweiler/s/e4yOH3UAsN

After vetting a few different people, we got in touch with the folks up in Maine (thanks to this community), who have taken him in along with their 6 other dogs including 1 Rottweiler and 4 Rottweiler mixes.

As expected, Roman is getting along with all of his new siblings and his wonderful new owners are teaching him the ropes of farm life- not chasing deer, staying close, and being a mature off-leash boy. Their home is completely set up for Roman’s quirks and misbehaviors and we could not be more grateful to have found him this upgraded life.

Do you say goodbye to your baby at daycare?

My 9 month old just started daycare and at drop off I’ve been hanging for a minute and then once she’s interested in something else I just kind of.. leave lol

She’s only been 2 days so I’m just figuring out if I should actually say goodbye or if that will make her more upset and confused at this age.

Sleep train vs cosleeping

Not as controversial as the title leads on…

Just genuinely curious:

  1. How old is your baby?
  2. Do you cosleep or did you sleep train? (Is there an in between I’m not sure of?)
  3. How often does your baby wake?
  4. How often do you feed at night?
  5. If you sleep trained, did you have to resleep train at any point?

Making plans

My baby is 6 months and I have a hard time making plans if they don’t go along with my baby’s nap schedule. I feel guilty/embarrassed asking friends to change/shorten their plans so that I can make sure baby is napped.

It’s getting better now that she can do like 2.5-3 hours awake but it’s just kind of limiting… anyone else?

Contact nap judgment

MIL walks in while I’m in the rocking chair napping my 6 month old…

“This is how she naps…?”
“You can’t put her down for naps…?”

I have no interest in teaching her to nap on her own. Our life is simple and easy… contact naps work for us and the nanny does them too…. Why so much judgment?! Who cares?!

Travelling?

Planning to stay at my moms who’s guest room does not have a floor bed or room for a side car.

What shall I do? The mattress if firm enough to cosleep but concerned about baby rolling off

Help! How do I make this compliant

I provide ABA services to children and families. Have done in-home and am opening an office in July. Potentially sharing the office with another provider who doesn’t do ABA services. Shared waiting room/common areas. How do I make this hipaa compliant or do I just not share the space?

Rolling over and over

Hi! Have a sidecar + floorbed setup so feeling good about safety but my 6 month old is struggling to settle with her new found rolling skills.

I typically nurse her then place her in her sidecar and may keep a hand on her and she’ll fall asleep.

The last few nights she will roll and twist and turn and try to fall asleep on her belly but then can’t seem to settle so then will end up basically in tummy time crying and needing help to settle which ends up me c-curling her.

We’ve never consistently been c-curl. Usually only early mornings or if it’s a hard night. Before she was rolling she would sleep in the sidecar and not really move all night.

So… let her roll around and cry and figure it out? Hold her in a specific position (on her back/side) to stop her from rolling and help her to settle? Some other option I haven’t thought about?

Micromanaging

Hi everyone! I am a FTM and looking for some guidance from nannies and nanny families.

My baby is almost 6 months old and we have had our Nanny part-time since she was three weeks old… We are a very chill family, and we try to go with the babies flow and not set any strict or rigid rules around her care. She eats every 2-3 hours and naps every 1.5-2.5 hours.

I breast-feed and am pumping in between work appointments, but I don’t pump on a schedule as every day is different with my work schedule and the Nanny starts and ends her days at a different time every day.

I am struggling because I don’t want to micromanage the Nanny with following my babies cues of hunger and sleepiness, but I’m finding that if I don’t give her set instructions, bedtime can get messed up or my baby doesn’t eat enough or eats too much and it messes with my supply.

How can I provide support or guidelines without it feeling micromanage-y? Would it be unreasonable to use our whiteboard/communication log to give a general schedule of how I’d like the day to go? It might look different everyday.

Normalize my parenting dynamic

Not totally cosleeping related but I like this community- I am a cosleeping mama - weve slept in our own room since day 1 cause my husband takes medication and sleeps heavy.

Our dynamic is very much I am primary caregiver and he is support person. I work PT with the help of a nanny, I breastfeed and cosleep. On weekends, I do all the “caregiving” including naps and feeds. It’s just easier that way and he hangs out with baby during wake time, will help with bathtime or dinners and takes care of our very high needs dog.

I find myself sometimes getting jealous that he gets alone time since I really only get it when I’m working or the nanny is here and I think he gets jealous of my relationship with baby…

Alas, we’ve pretty much accepted that during the first year with breastfeeding this is pretty much how it is.

I have some fears with this dynamic regarding dad and baby’s relationship and do get burnt out after a long weekend but overall it works for us.

Are other families this imbalanced with care taking? Am I setting myself or my little family up for failure?
