Passing through on a road trip- what’s a good 20-30$ per meal restaurant?

Hi yall!

We are driving through Des Moines tonight and need recommendations.

I keep seeing fancy, $50 plates recommendations but that’s too much right now.

We could do Asian, American, Italian, but no Mexican or seafood

What’s a good pub, pasta, or tavern food?

Thanks!

How to give notice

I swear I’ve been a nanny for 5 years and I’ve quit 3 nanny jobs but everytime I GET SO NERVOUS and I forget how to professionally give my notice lol

Anyways I’m quitting my current one bc it’s just too much of a commute. Both parents work from home, but I don’t often get to see both of them at the same time. When I arrive in the AM both MB and NK are making breakfast, sometimes DB is there too.

Do I just tell one of at breakfast time? Do I do it I didn’t of whose 22 months - Or should I try to sit down with both of them? I feel like if I text them and ask for a chance to sit down tomorrow with both they’ll definitely know I’m quitting, but is that a good thing?

They’re wonderful family and people so think they’ll be shocked.

I also would love to use them as a reference but idk if that’ll happen bc I don’t want to be like “hey this is great but I quit- but also can I use you as a reference for new jobs?”

Lmao thanks for may tips and calming my anxiety

Places to stay in or near Chicago?

Hello

We are road tripping next week and we plan on pulling over at hotels and car parks when we can. We will stop in Cheyenne, Omaha, then Chicago.

I know Chicago is a big city, with good and bad areas. As a petite woman I’d prefer to stay in an after area haha. What are some cheap and safe hotels or rest stops with showers to sleep at?

Thanks!

Hi!

My dad is flying down to the Charlotte airport and will need a ride to his hotel. He’s going alone, he’s in his 70s and in great shape mentally but not very tech savvy. He could do the basic kiosks but I don’t know about navigating Uber and such on his phone.

Was the best option for my dad to easily get a ride to his hotel? There’s no shuttle service from the hotel. I wasn’t sure how easy the airport was to navigate. I know uber has a senior option, which I plan on setting up. Is there a specific pick up area for ride shares and Ubers he can get too? Are there traditional taxis? Any tips on how I can guide my dad would be appreciated 😁

Hi!

We are driving my partners car back home from

SLC.

We plan on tentatively doing this trip along i80: we leave May 17

Day 1: leave SLC - arrive in Cheyenne WY in afternoon (6.5-7hrs)

- car camp at rest stops

Day 2: Cheyenne - Omaha NE (7-8 hrs)

- ideally we’d get there in the afternoon- grab a hotel or Airbnb to shower and sleep in a real bed and not a car lol

Day 3: extra day in Omaha to visit the zoo

- I know the zoo can take a while so we might keep the Airbnb so we can shower and sleep again

Day 4: leave Omaha - head to Chicago (8hrs)

- may stop in Iowa for sleep breaks or not

Day 5: Stay in Chicago

- maybe grab an Airbnb for that afternoon/night

Day 6: leave Chicago - head to NY/Buffalo

Day 7: NY to Home

Looking at Omaha there’s cheap rooms off owners homes for like 60-90 a night. Cheaper than hotels and I trust them a bit more cleanliness and safety wise haha

Do this fill up fast and should I book them now or wait until we are closer?

Hi!

So I have a big kitty and she needs an extra large litter box and I finally found a stainless steel one that’s like 26 by like 18 inches. Previously using a Rubbermaid tote lol.

Because of that I have been lining her litter box with constructions/ carpenter trash bags. Honestly, the carpenter bags worked great, I was able to cut them open flat, so it was big enough to line the Rubbermaid, and she couldn’t scratch through them because they were a contractor geade so they’re made for nails and construction waste. You could get a box of like 100 at Home Depot.

But anyways, I switched to a stainless steel box to help with the smell, but do I use a liner with it? Or does that kind of defeat the purpose because now a bag is just gonna get smelly

I also like liners is that my cats litter box is in a closet in the entrance of the closet is narrow so when I take out the entire litter box to dump it, I have to twist it sideways and wiggle it out- which often leads to litter spilling. So when I have a bag, I can just grab the corners and pick it all up.

Right now we have a dark gray shirt, bear paint from Home Depot at the previous owner put on. It’s a semi gloss finish, but it’s still gets really humid and steamy in there and makes water spots and then it dries like that.

I recently installed a Panasonic whisper fan, hoping that it would help but I think just because the bathroom is small. It’s always going to get steamy.

Do I need to pick a lighter color, get better lighting (which I do plan on the vanity mirror sucks), or get a more expensive bathroom paint like the Sherwin- Willian aura and spa

Hello!

I’m taking some time off this year to go back to school. I’ll or any work some part time work or do some gig work like babysitting/nannying.

Last year I made roughly 32k and I got some tax credits to lower my monthly cost.

In NH if I don’t make a certain amount I’m forced on Medicare (or Medicaid I forget which lol) but I really don’t want that bc it’s expensive

I want to go on the market place, and still mark my income as 30-32k so I can still get the tax credits, but say it varies.

Will I get a penalty if I over report? It’s probably my not ethical but I can’t stand Medicare especially when I have chronic illness and see lots of specialists. I know if you under under report your income you have to pay the credits back at tax time

Thanks!
