The construction crews left two really hard bumps. Popped both front tires going about 30 this morning. One visibly bent wheel.
Similar to the 3 inch 90degree bump they left at the train tracks southbound a few weeks ago.
Should have been plated.

The following will make me sound like a curmudgeon jerk who hates fun: pumpkins after dark is Halloween Fyre fest.
My motivation is to save families who are struggling in this economy from spending time, energy, and hard-earned dollars on this event.
The only saving grace is the people staffing event were nice and friendly and there is a chance younger kids may feel enchanted by it.
TLDR: fake plastic pumpkin art, up to $30/pp, $8 parking.
Essentially you’re paying for a few photo props with Home Depot Halloween decorations.
The walk around the park is lit with props you think are real pumpkin art which I was initially impressed by until you realize they’re plastic pumpkins glued onto wood boards.
Now if the event was $10 sure whatever but charging up to $30 per person makes this seem like a money grab by the organization and any social media accounts promoting it.

A tumor was found in the spinal cord in my back. I had that removed the end of September. I was released the last day of September and in less than 24 hours at home on October 1 I tripped over a rug and fell and broke my ankle in three places. I am now in Wesley on grand for my recovery. Should be going home in two weeks, but I will have to have a wheelchair probably for three months because my left foot is 100% non-weight-bearing money is an issue. Thank you medical bills if anyone has any idea or maybe a wheelchair that you’re not using these contact me I’ll be calling Easter shields tomorrow and I really don’t have any other leads. Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
All day everyday there's a dull, low humming coming from the airport. it's not a plane because it's consistent throughout the day.
I like fairs. I like Asian culture. Anime. Cars. K dramas. I like it all as a 20+ girl.
Ai ads do not bother me. So that has nothing to do with my review.
The food was meh. The drinks were meh. Drinks are $9+ minimum. Food is $12+ minimum.
Des Moines has treated me well with all the boba shops, Korean fried chicken, ramen shops ect. The food here has no flavor or texture. Half the time you got to the tent to order and they are sold out of half their menu and it's only Saturday. What about Sunday? For half the price I could have supported a small business here in Des moines and not pay to get into the door and order what's advertised on the menu.
The DJ could not sing but boy was he singing. Loudly.
Lines didn't make sense at the tents. It's in a parking lot. No shade. Hardly any seats or rest areas to stand and enjoy your food. Trash was over filled and blowing around everywhere. Gross.
Oh! And to add. It's the same five food tents just spread out. So that chicken on a stick place you just passed up? Well. It's the same one four tents down.
Crafts were super pricey. At normal art fairs you can find what I call "$5 friends" of knitted stuffies about the size of a tennies ball. Here keychains were $12. And not local.
3/10 at best. I should have just went to chicken lickin and zenko tea.
My mom is nearing 80 and has a complicated medical history that we’ve worked to unravel over the past three years. She’s had a stroke, has diabetes, and has a heart condition. She’s wheelchair bound and nearly blind.
The past week she’s been sick. I called non emergency this evening and they dispatched an ambulance. In addition to her symptoms, her vitals were highly concerning and they told her they recommended she go to get checked out and that they were not comfortable leaving her. As lethargic and miserable as she is, she was still able to stubbornly refuse and they left. She also refuses to go to her primary care doctor.
Do we have any options here or we just have to wait until she’s too unresponsive to make any decisions?

I literally cried the first time I had it on a whim as a random DoorDash order. I love it from Opa! But want to try others to see if it’s the dish or Opa! Haha
My wife and I are selling specialty loaves and eggs from our chickens today until about noon at cha-cha’s Highland bakery!
Bread is fire, like you don’t even know how great some bread can taste! The specialty loaf which are apple cinnamon crumble, maple brown sugar pecan, and beer cheddar bacon (bud heavy for base) are $12
And the classic original sourdough is $10
Fresh eggs from our chickens which are washed are $4 dozen.
We're running an open meetup for the Iowa Time Bank and wanted to invite anyone interested.
If you haven't heard of a time bank: it's a way for neighbors to exchange items and services without money. You spend time helping someone (a ride, tutoring, a small repair, pet sitting, tech help, baked goods, whatever you like) and earn that time as credit. You spend that credit on help from anyone else in the network. One hour equals one hour, regardless of the skill.
You also don't need credit to ask for help. It's a pay-it-forward system built on trust: you can receive help when you need it and give back later. Exchanges are tracked, and in practice most people want to return the favor once someone has helped them.
It's still early and growing, with members in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City. A network like this only becomes useful when enough people are actively participating.
