Looking for uncontestedly OP MC
I suppose this is an entry for the bi-weekly OP MC request posts, but i'll be a bit more demanding.
I want something actually good where there is some plot scheme that, even though our MC is uncontestedly OP, can not be solved with direct application of that.
Ones I've already read are:
- Power Overwhelming
- Speed running the multiverse
- Max Level Archmage
- Greatest archmage to have ever lived
- Blessed by death
- Amelia
- The Ballad Of A Semi-Benevolent Dragon
I'll plug one i recently stumbled on The Wrong Kind Of Immortality in which OP MC is actively looking to die after becoming immortal, and though some of the first arc has its boring parts, the recent chapters are consistently fun.
As for OP MCs gimmicks; the one thing I consistently don't like is if they do not know they're OP. Those, as well as frankly a majority of OP MC stories, always seem to run out of steam and become very stale.
I'm also not looking for anything where they become OP over time - I'd rather they be from the start. So things like
- Beware of Chicken
- Stubborn skill grinder
- Year of the Apocalypse
Are mostly out - but if it only takes a small part out of a whole series then please drop it as well with a note.
Regressor stories are a bit of a mixed bag. I like enough of them, but not what I'm looking for right now.
In summary, I'm looking for:
- OP from the start
- There are no plot beats to power up / level up
- No 'next tier' of opponents previously unbeatable
- No 'get access when reaching min level'
- Powerful entities they couldn't overpower are rare to non-existent.
- The story is focused on things other than their power
- At least 400 pages
Tropes of: our modern world and their barbarian ways
This is a thread to complain / point out things that in an Isekai authors gets wrong. (In your opinion)
Specifically the kind where they make the native population a bunch of barbarian idiots that somehow developed a whole society and magic, but never realized this 1 wierd trick.
Now to be fair, this is a bit subjective because in 1000 CE there was a real lack of ideas (spreading) and a modern person could genuinely hit on some truth bombs to blow some minds.
So do your best - the worse / absurd the trope the better.

youtube.comThe greatest military alliance in history might not survive this!
NATO isn't going to split because the Americans said they couldn't/wouldnt help, and the Europeans learned they'd rather have Ukrainians in charge than a US general under Trump when the Russians come knocking.
No - what will break this alliance is the Americans making fun of the Europeans for not have AC.
The European ego will not take this. Eventually, to protect their ego, they'll first turn to copium but that will soon run out and then they'll get desperate - and in their desperation pull out the big guns:
Just like with the asylum seekers, just like current energy prices, global-warming it is in large part the Americans who created the problem and turned in a self-written doctor's note to excuse their inability to fix things.
But thats just a theory. A game theory.

Whats the codex usage on a 20x plan vs 5x plan?
At 1 point anthropic had their usage fucked up so hard, that you'd get more usage out of 2x 100$ plan and the 200$ plan mostly gave you the option to burn through more of your limit in 5h.
Whats the situation with OpenAI? Anybody happen to have upgraded and is the 200 plan really 20x usage or is it the same kind of switcheroo?
Adding vaguelyAI flair to make it clear that a post is going to be vaguelyAI
We are seeing more and more /r/rust threads vaguely trying to solve the AI-post volume problems, and posters don’t make it clear in their post the nature of their post, which creates some friction in the comment section.
Adding a vaguelyAI flair would make it clear upfront and prevent the friction.
We've all seen the bi-weekly post in which somebody proposes a fix to too much shit being produced by AI - usually proposing a custom flair or reporting standards.
Its clear these posts never had any work put into them. The comment sections always devolve into vague-posting about what is and isn't vibe coding, half the people demand any use of AI makes a whole project slop, the other half is trying to hedge out their nuanced position nobody bothers reading, and a good 10% is people taking some maximalist stance one way or the other.
Since none of these posts bother the write a real policy, and their content could have been generated by an LLM, i want to propose we add a vaguelyAI flair.
Do you want me to add any more errors to avoid looking like ChatGPT wrote this post?
[Spoilers] Does the Book Of The Dead MC change much?
I'm a good way into book 4 and the MC has been dealing with some maybe/maybe not mental manipulation by vampires that makes him extremely irritable and a cunt a lot of the times in his personal interactions.
I'm not sure if the goal is to write a "logical" reason for an overachiever guy to turn into an insufferable evil prick, or if he'll lighten up once the mental stuff is dealt with - but his personality has changed enough and for so long that I'm not really having fun with it anymore.
Do i continue or just close the book on it and say its not for me?
