So what creative uses have you built so far for the Busy Bar?
I am on Linux, so can't use the official desktop app, but I've built a few scripts so far:
"on air" when mic or camera in use. I know the desktop app has it, but this works for linux :)
Blue Jays score - whenever there is a live game it shows the current score.
Extreme weather alerts - just hooked into my local cities alerts from weather canada
Vinyl for when I am playing a vinyl (I use the 3rd and 4th input of my interface for vinyl only, so it shows a vinyl art and the word vinyl when it detects audio)
I saw there are some community apps, but I'm curious if anyone has built any other micro apps or scripts that work with it!
Random screen tearing on latest update?
I am on Fedora Atomic Cosmic. Was working great for some time, but now I suddenly get screen tearing. It seems to be random, when typing this message it popped up, when I tile a window or move a window it'll happen. It seems random as far as I can tell.
I am on all AMD hardware. I do have frosted effect on, but turning it off doesn't help and it worked before.
I can't seem to find any obvious bug reports and I'm unsure if I would report this to cosmic-comp or somewhere else.
Any ideas whats up?
A fun diversion: how do you describe what you actually DO day to day
I am reminded of that scene in office space where the bobs interview the product manager.
A common opening question from folks is "So what do you do?" and if I say "product manager" they usually have no idea what that is. I also struggle with coming up with a simple day to day description.
So what do you use?
Possible for auto tiling to favour vertical splits instead of horizontal?
I LOVE auto tiling, but I find the way it tiles makes it harder to work with the window.
I know I can manually move the window to the right spot, but would be nice if the auto tiler did that. Any way to do that? Might that be a future feature?
Not auto creating rules
According to the docs, actual should be making a rule for a payee to send to a specific category. This is how YNAB works as well.
For some reason though, it doesn't do that for me. If I type in a payee, it just asks me to put in a category, if I add that payee again, I have to manually add the category again.
Is there a setting I can't find to turn this feature on? Is this because I only use the desktop app without connecting to a server?
Thanks for any help!
Any way to make the budget screen wider?
I know it is somewhat thin so you can look at multiple months at a time, but I hardly ever do that - I find that the current width is cramped and it cuts off some of the category names. Any way to make it wider? I don't see it in the settings.
Can't seem to do many key combinations
I have key combinations I would like to fire when midi is fired such as ctrl + shift + w.
But it seems I can only have two keys instead of three which heavily limits the uses.
It seems to have issues with holding a key and hitting another key.
I am trying both keyboard hold or keyboard shortcut and neither seem to be working.
Even trying something simple like ctrl + M or any letter. It has a lot of trouble with capturing it, and if I manually put it in, it does not seem to do it.
Let me know if I am doing something wrong!
Secondary monitor as touch screen - no touch input working.
My main monitor is not a touch screen but my secondary one is. For some reason, the touch screen on it doesn't work at all.
I did some digging and I see some people say they see touches on the secondary impact their primary, but I don't see that - maybe because my primary doesn't have touch.
Has anyone seen and then solved for this?
As a note, I tried the same setup in KDE and it works perfectly, so I assume it must be Cosmic related. (on Fedora Cosmic Atomic).
How do YOU use tab folders?
I am curious what the work flow is. I know they have long been a requested feature but personally haven't figured out all the use cases.
So I am curious: how do you make use of them?
Personally, I have pinned tabs for the stuff I open most and unpinned for everything else. Tree tabs is how I used to organize but those aren't in Zen as far as I can tell so far.
I'm going without a server, any issues given my use case?
It seems the app REALLY implies you should set up a server, I think I understand why, but just want to make sure I'm not doing anything stupid.
I don't want to sync with my phone, I just don't need that.
I do a daily "reconcile" where I enter all transactions from the previous day and make sure the numbers line up.
I want to enter transactions manually, not import.
Since I can easily back up the data with my own 3 2 1 system - am I missing anything? Or is my offline, desktop focus totally fine?
I am using the flathub version on my machine and seems to be working fine.
Thanks!
How to stop activity tracked notification from Polar Flow?
I can go to settings to control some notifications, but for some reason I can't find an option to turn off the notification for when it tracked an "activity". I don't need the notification.
Any idea where I can find the option to turn it off? I want to keep the battery notifications but turn off that one.
Game opens, I can hear it, steam says it's open but window can't be found!
Very strange problem I'm having. I am on fedora cosmic atomic.
Rocketleague is the game. Other games all seem to work fine. When I was on kde it worked fine. Gnome works fine too so for sure a cosmic issue.
I check my work spaces. Nothing. I check alt tab, not there. I turn tiling on and off, nothing. The title screen music teases me.
I was going to try gamescooe but the game doesn't load at all when I evoke it. Maybe something to do with using flatpak for steam and gamescope?
Any ideas what's up?
