Recruiting requesting 2 managerial references before interview - is this normal?

Just completed a screening interview for a recruiting company that reached out.

They’d like to schedule me an interview with the hiring company end of this week.

Prior to scheduling that, they requested I provide 2 managerial references.

Is this normal? Seems kinda fishy to me. But I could be wrong

Radio silence after interview - follow up or not?

Timeline of events:

2 weeks ago: met with recruiter for pre-screening call, he thought my experience was perfect for this role and sent my information to the regional HR department

1 week ago: met with HR Manager in my state, and Operations Manager from my city. Interview seemed to go well.

HR asks when I can start (formality question I assume)

I told her the recruiter mentioned the role was hoping to be filled by the end of the month

She says “we’re not looking to rush, but want to make sure we find the right candidate for this role”. Totally fair and valid (could be a red flag for rejection)

At the end of the interview, she says they’re hoping to make their decision by the end of the week / early next week, and they are still have a couple interviews to do.

HR mentions she’ll be off on vacation this week, and I should expect to hear from the regional HR lead in my city.

Am I just being bullshitted? It’s been exactly one week since my last interview.

Should I reach out to my recruiter? Or try the HR lead?

Should I just wait it out another week?

Spelled hiring managers name wrong in thank you follow up - I’m finished

Realized I used the wrong letter in the hiring manager’s name immediately after sending the email

For example, Jonathon rather than Jonathan.

I’m so fucked right?

GGs guys

Salary discrepancy

I’m interviewing for a position in Canada with a salary range of 78k - 100k CAD

There are IDENTICAL roles in the USA listed between 74k - 120k USD.

This is equivalent to 103k - 167k CAD

How should I consider this during salary discussion?

Is it worth bringing up in the negotiation process, or will they just tell me to move countries? Lol

Curious what you guys think… thanks in advance

EDIT: I should mention that these roles are exactly the same. Word-for-word Responsibilities and Qualifications

Negotiating within a pay range

Just finished a screening call with a recruiter, and they brought up my expected salary for the role.

The job posting had a clear pay range from 78k - 100k.

I did not give a specific number, but mentioned that my expected salary falls within the posted pay range.

Did I mess up? Will I be given the lowest offer, or do I still have room to negotiate if say, a formal offer was presented?

Thanks!

Are you guys tipping at the QC Ex?

I mean.. I’m paying $10 for a lemonade, $20 for a bucket of donuts, $22 for a cheesesteak, $35 for a turkey leg, and still being asked to tip an additional 15-20% on top of that.

Maybe I’m a d***, but this is getting extreme

Recently landed an interview with another company from my DA experience!

Hey all,

Just wanted to share I’ve been selected for interview as an AI Analyst with a large construction company.

I’m curious if anyone else has been in a similar spot, having to deal with questions, describing your experience, and maintaining the NDA with DA.

How was your interview? What types of questions should I be prepared for? Did you land the job?

Looking for any sort of advice to help me succeed.

As much as I love DA and the freedom it brings, I think I’m ready for something full-time again.

Thanks a lot in advance!

[4 YOE, Project Analyst Contractor, Project Coordinator, Canada] Looking for ANY advice on my resume. Zero interviews in 6 months

Engineering degree. Looking for project coordinator roles in construction, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Been applying and constantly tweaking my resume for 6 months without any interviews.

I’m in desperate need for some honest feedback.

Is it wrong to apply to the same company at different locations?

For example, I’ve been targeting project coordinator roles at a very large construction firm.

Is is wrong for me to use the same application for the same role, but for 4-5 different locations in the country?

The most annoying thing I’ve encountered in my job search is finding similar roles, but having to update/remove/replace my previous application for a different role.

How do recruiters feel about this?

Was this the best era of WWE?

Newbie here, so I’ll have to admit I haven’t kept up with modern day WWE.

I originally started watching around 2003. To me, this era was so legendary. I remember buying all the DVD pay per views between 2003-2006. The storylines, the characters, the championship belts. As a 10 year old this was peak entertainment. I would go to Walmart every week looking for a new replica belt I would beg my parents for lol.

Raw and Smackdown would have superstars performing every week, often title fights or rematches from ppv’s. I’m not sure how things are now, but we were lucky to be able to watch those weekly, and for free.

This era was by far the most nostalgic for me. How does everyone else feel?

Transfers?

Haven’t heard much of any buzz of incoming signings this summer

With Ando departing we’ll have a chunk of money to spend

Are we up to the usual last minute transfer barrage?

Who would you like to see incoming?

[5 YoE] Unemployed as an engineer for 2 years. Seeking resume feedback and career guidance.

For context, I've technically been "unemployed" as an engineer for 2 years now. I was laid off in 2024 from my Project Engineer role, and thus haven't been registered in my province as a licensed Engineer-in-Training since then, as I am no longer providing engineering work or under the supervision of a P.Eng.

I'm worried this 2-year gap will prevent me from registering as an EIT again, and so I've been applying for Project Coordinator roles as all engineering roles require an active licence.

Does anyone know if I'm still eligible to re-apply as an EIT?

I'm beginning to feel major dread and major imposter syndrome, as if I've selected the wrong degree to pursue.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Roast my resume

Been looking endlessly for Project Coordinator roles with no luck getting a single interview

I feel so ready to just give up

I’ve been thinking of going back to school for something entirely different.

Idk. Starting to really regret my life choices. I thought an engineering degree would provide me with a solid, stable career

Please roast my resume

Why is resume advice so conflicting?

Someone please tell me the secret sauce.

I’ve spent hours upon hours fixing my resume and it’s driving me literally insane. Once I feel like I’ve got to a good place, I’ll get someone to review it just to be totally dumped on.

Professional Summary: is this needed? I’ve seen people tell me my summary is too long. I’ve had others tell me “hiring managers don’t bother to read this crap”.

I’ve had others tell me “if your experience is good enough you won’t need a summary”

I’ve had others tell me “this stuff belongs in your cover letter”

Work Experience: my approach has been to present each bullet point with: *what was accomplished, how it was accomplished, and why it was accomplished.*

Even when I achieve that, I’m told I don’t have enough quantifiable bullet points. Are people really making up how much money or labour hours they’ve saved their company? What if I don’t have access to these executive-level KPIs for the work I do? Are people just bullshitting?

Another issue is that I can tell you *what, how,* and *why,* but it ends up being 2-3 lines long.

But we’re told it should fit in one line, and make sure it’s all on one page! The hiring manager is just skimming over our resumes even if they make it past the dreaded ATS.

Skills: I’ve been told to weave my technical and non-technical skills into my bullet points.

Others will say your skills should be first and foremost on your resume.

ChatGPT/AI: while these tools are useful, it seems to just spew overly corporate jargon to the point where a hiring manager has no clue what I’ve done.

I miss the days where you could land an interview in your field, in your city, without having to compete with 200+ applicants in 4 days.

I miss the days where you could find a job without needing to match 90% of your experience to the niche responsibilities and qualifications of a job posting.

Apologies for the rant. I needed to get this off my chest

Engineering degree. Can’t land interviews for PC roles

I’m looking for advice on how I can improve my resume and find more success landing interviews. I’ve applied for industrial PC roles as well as roles in the construction industry.

Should I add more projects to my resume?

I have experience working on a number of industrial projects, including oil and gas, construction, municipal, government, mining, and emergency services.

Who are we targeting for MD2?

This week didn’t exactly go according to plan for the consensus picks. Oyarzabal, Bruno, most big nation defenders getting cleansheet wiped.

Who are the must have players for matchday 2?

Are you taking any transfer hits to get your guy?
