My grandad was just diagnosed with vascular dementia, almost a year to the day since my Nan passed away from the same thing

I hope this is ok to post here, but I’m heartbroken. I know you CasualUKers are really lovely and supportive so I just wanted to reach out and speak to fellow brits who may have been through the same thing.

My Nan had a lot going on including not only vascular dementia, but Alzheimer’s and leukaemia too. My grandparents have been so supportive and loving throughout my life and I can’t believe it’s hit my grandad too. I’m not ready to lose both of them.

I don’t want to go through this journey again.

My grandma passed away from dementia last year, and almost a year later to the day, my grandad has just been diagnosed with the same thing

My grandma had a lot going on - leukaemia, Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia, but lo and behold my grandad (her husband) has been diagnosed with vascular dementia today.

I’m heartbroken. I don’t want to go through this again.

What are your favourite user testing websites/apps?

I have signed up to quite a few, and regularly apply for tests, but have only been picked for one so far. I just want to know what your favourites are in case I’ve missed any please!

Bat by Zoologist

TW: visceral description

I am sniffing the tester strip as I type this.

For those of you who like weird, animalic, fecal, you will love this.

Quite simply it smells like the inside of a dirty animal enclosure. It’s sour, it smells like pee soaked hay. It’s fruity, but fruity in a way that the animal has eaten bananas and then shit them out.

I am also getting dirty diaper on the dry down.

That is all.

Billie Eilish recently claimed that ‘you can’t be an animal lover and still eat meat’ and has faced huge backlash for this

I woke up to find that she has posted several graphic videos on her story of what happens to the animals in these industries to her 124M instagram followers, having only ever shared brief opinions previously. She also included the messages above. This is the kind of activism we need from celebrities, this is what changes people’s views when they’re faced with the truth. Hell yes.

I’ve raised a complaint with them, if this was sharper it could have caused injury, I’ve been handling the compost with my hands all morning.

The quality of their compost is absolutely shoddy too, full of mulched wood/bark and even stones? Not good…

I know it was potentially a bit too early but I live in a house share that was rapidly starting to look like a tomato plant nursery. Temps are dipping to 6°c, will they survive?

For those of you not in the know, vegan activist Joey Carbstrong recently made two documentaries, one non graphic, and one graphic exposing the violence and torture going on in a secret UK kosher slaughterhouse. The videos have since been taken down as the meat company filed a legal claim.

The farmer in this video expresses his absolute disgust regarding the treatment of these animals in the documentary, which is fantastic. But he is still an animal farmer himself, which seems to be quite a large double standard.

Would love to hear your opinions on this, as this is very interesting.

TW: Description of murder and blood

So, as I understand Spiritica is a relatively new Italian perfume house, and I stumbled upon Leonarda in Bloom Perfumery in London and was intrigued by its inspiration.

The story behind this fragrance is unique to say the least and is inspired by Italy’s first serial killer: Leonarda Cianciulli.

Leonarda was desperate to protect her son who was about to enlist in the Royal Italian Army in WW2. She somehow came to the conclusion that if she made human sacrifices, then he would be kept out of harm’s way. She then proceeded to murder three of her female neighbours with an axe.

She was a soap maker by trade, and with this skill in tow, she decided to chop up and melt the women’s bodies with caustic soda in the bathtub, making soap out of the fatty residue that remained. When the soap solidified, she handed it out for neighbours and acquaintances to use. When the remaining blood had dried in the bottom of the bathtub, she decided to use it in her baking, mixing it in with chocolate, butter, flour etc. to make teacakes, which, again, she served to others as well as to her husband and even to herself!

This fragrance is… weird. I sprayed it on a testing strip 4 days ago and put it in a drawer, and my bedside cabinet still STINKS inside. It’s definitely a wearable fragrance, it just has that ‘something’s slightly off’ vibe. Looking at the notes the first thing that I get is soap mixed with cookie. It is somewhat gourmand but not overwhelmingly so. When smelling it in the store I got a hit of rosemary, but I’m not sure where it came from. There is this metallic, off putting undertone that makes you wrinkle your nose ever so slightly which will be from the blood accord and metallic notes. I will stress that this undertone is slight, and doesn’t take away from the wearability of this fragrance at all. Black pepper is sprinkled throughout each sniff too.

I keep sniffing the tester card as I find it to be such an interesting fragrance that my mind and nose is trying to understand, as I’ve never smelt anything like it before. If you’re into true crime and fragrances with really interesting back stories, I highly recommend you give this a sniff if you can!

If you feel up to watching it, or even just listening to it like I am, I would be really interested to discuss it with you guys.

I will forever be amazed at the bravery and sheer dedication and love that Joey has for animals. I hope he continues to expose the truth about these fucking horrific places that are kept so hidden from the public eye.

Here’s the link to the documentary if you’re interested, it’s non graphic but will have distressing content and descriptions: https://youtu.be/Bvgz2My0fJs?si=uaDjx17kbUq3jSTO
