Steam

Spent the weekend grinding out the badges

To those that don't know, when the pawn says he knows a thing or two about this area, you talk to him and he will give you some options of places or things you haven't discovered nearby. Very useful.

Oh and he can speak elvish

(Don't particular care about the quest, its just there if someone needs some money)

Sorcerer pawns: Likes and Dislikes

If you are looking for a Sorcerer pawn, what skills are you looking for and what are the big no no to you?

Is it annoying when enemies get thrown in the air or fire rains from the sky? Or do you love the chaos?

Top 2 skills for you and 2 skills that will make you go "Absolutely not"

(Mind you I don't need stuff like inclination or specialization or if a pawn have a quest, just weapons skills)

Edit: Boy oh boy, I feel like I am learning wildly opposite things hehe

Tzatziki in calzone? Is this a real thing?

I just learned something deeply confusing about pizza culture in Odense, Denmark.

Multiple local pizzerias put tzatziki inside their baked calzones by default.

Not on the side. Inside the calzone.

And if you don’t want tzatziki? The alternative is béarnaise sauce.

I checked several places because I thought the first one had made a mistake. Nope. Apparently this is a thing.

Is this normal anywhere else in the world, or has Odense developed its own parallel pizza evolution?

16th-century beesuit I sewed for the opening of a new apiary at Oxford University

I’m the president and founder of the Oxford University Beekeeping Society, and around World Bee Day last month I opened the university’s first student teaching apiary in 185 years. 200 years ago we had a predecessor called the Oxford Apiarist Society, but they went defunct in 1841 when their founder left Oxford to introduce beekeeping to New Zealand (and later went insane, look Rev. William Cotton up).

To celebrate the occasion I handsewed this early modern beesuit. It's a simple linen tunic along with the wicker woven face cover, and a flower crown we broke out for the ceremony. This wicker style is attested in a few medieval and early modern wood blocks and illuminated manuscripts, notably including Pieter Bruegel’s ‘The Beekeepers and the Birdnester’ (1568) and Sebastian Münster’s Cosmography (1544). When I’m not beekeeping I’m working on a history PhD, so had the fortune of visiting some of the sources in the Bodleian Library archives.

Much of the research and sewing patterns are thanks to u/redbonito who wrote up a guide on the design here: blamensir.neocities.org/monastery/workshop/sewing/beekeeper

There are a few errors or inaccuracies I’d like to correct in future– the sleeves should be wrapped at the wrist, the wicker face is a little small compared with historical examples, there’s a mistaken gap between the neckline and hood, and I haven’t yet tried my hand at early modern hose or footwear.

On the day we also invited the college choir out to serenade the bees with a 1623 beekeeping melody, Melissomelos, composed by the Oxford alum Charles Butler. Butler was the first beekeeper within Britain to argue that the beehive was ruled by a queen rather than a king in his book the Feminine Monarchie, which concluded with Melissomelos. The melody mimics the real 'piping', or singing behaviour of newborn queen bees, but lyrically is also an allusion to the reign and colonial expansion of Queen Elizabeth I. Oriel College wrote an article on the event which you can find here, and there are some recordings of the choir performance you can find on their social media back on May 6 🐝:

He is my favorite to explore with right now, since I can just laze up and down with the rocketpack.

And after unlocking all his skills, he is just absolutely silly in combat.

Love the dual 2h attacks and oversized weapons

I try to keep my characters light on effects, sticking to 1 element and one or 2 gear effects.

I have momentum (a must on all characters I think) equipped in helmet and a groundsurge on each of his weapons. He sticks to fire, but have no imbue fire gears slotted in the current set up. Effect gears can get way too busy for my taste and a lot of the time you get better dmg slotting to hit around 50 attack and 10 crit anyways.

Wish for companion AI

Mind you, I know that more than half of you are still stuck in Hernand and (for some reason) refuse to do the main quest, but the limitations on companions in combat is about the only thing I would really wish to be removed.

When you have them out, the ones following whoever you are playing (including Kliff if you are not playing as him) seem to simply not use their full setup

From my observations this include, but might not be limited to

  1. They only use their main weapon setup, so the 2h slot doesn't come out

  2. They do not seem to use focus or the powers that use spirit

  3. From above, this means they do not seem to use any elemental powers

  4. From above again, this seem They do not use RT 1 + 2 or focus shot

  5. They so not seem to benefit from special attack gears (mind you this observation might come from me not testing, but I have never seen Kliff use any of the ones I slotted in his 1h weapon)

  6. In fact they do not seem to use gears with effect in equipment at all (from having Damiane and Kliff having slotted evade gears with effect)

  7. They do not seem to use special effext gear, although if you turn on the watcher pack and switch to another character, it stays turned on

I would like the AI to use the full potential of a given character.

If it's an issue with aoe dmg and effects, it could be a toggle for all I care

Thank you for reading my rant
