Finished ahead of schedule

I've been working on a huge project for work for several months. The pressure has been on because I tend to scramble as deadlines near, and my boss made it clear that there's a lot riding on how well I do on this. The due date is mid-Sept and I am DONE. Checked, rechecked, stress tested, done. I like this strange feeling of breathing room!

How do I set a boundary with my friend?

I often work from home and love the flexibility that comes with it. Because I have more flexibility than most of my family and a lot of friends, I sometimes run errands for them and step in when they need emergency childcare. The last couple of weeks, one friend has sort of stretched my limits. She's dropped one or both of her kids off at mine with little warning four times. Once was for just 90 minutes, unexpected but not aircraft huge deal. But the other three times were practically all day, including once that went to close to midnight.

They aren't difficult kids but having them here requires me to split my attention and I am not able to get nearly as much work done as usual. I know she is in a tough spot because her husband is deployed and she's dealing with a lot of job stress, but I can't keep this up. How do I tell her that this is too big of an imposition?

You hit the jackpot, who do you tell?

I mean a big, life changing jackpot. Do you tell your family and friends or keep it to yourself for a while?

One day in Athens

I am traveling for work next month and will have one day all to myself. What should I absolutely do in addition to the Acropolis? I'm more into walking around and enjoying great food rather than spending all day in museums but am trying to create a little structure for myself. TIA!

First school play?

It was The Three Billy Goats Gruff for me. 1st grade. I was the second goat. All I remember is the bridge collapsing as I crossed it and being mortified. I wish I'd had the nerve to try again but that was the last play I ever did.

What is Saturday morning now?

Remember when Saturday morning meant eating a bowl of cereal in front of the TV while watching cartoons? With so many streaming services and people rarely watching anything other than a sporting event en masse, what has become of Sat mornings?

I recognized my worth

I've been doing some consulting as a side hustle for years. I don't take on a ton of projects but I stay pretty busy. A former client reached out about a new time sensitive project and was shocked when I gave him a quote. He expected that I would charge at my previous rate (2021 dollars) and tried to talk me down. I was tempted to give in but held firm. Still got the contract!

If you could control your last moments on earth, what would they look like?

I know it's a strange question and most of us don't have much of a say in how/when we go out but this topic came up with some friends and I'm curious what others think. The best scenario I have ever seen or imagined stems from Chidi and Eleanor's goodbye in The Good Place where Chidi describes a Buddhist waves returning to the ocean as where they are supposed to be. My "choice" would be sitting on a shoreline watching waves come and go and feeling my essence return to the sea. What's your ideal scenario?

I fired myself!

I've been working part-time to help a friend out for about 8 months. The work isn't hard (it's unbelievably dull) and I only get slotted in for shifts when they can't find someone else, but I've been giving up more weekends and holidays than I'd like. So helpful me recruited a recent grad who hasn't been able to find something in her field and she's worked out great. So great that my friend was almost apologetic when telling me my services are no longer needed! Not. A. Bummer.

Feeling kinda low today and really need to turn the energy around before a big presentation. Tried listening to some music but keep leaning toward sad songs. What's on your pick-me-up playlist?

Willow wealth added a quiz about private markets to their learning center. It's 10 questions long and felt like a decent gut check to see how much you actually know about alternative private investing. I only got 8 of them correct. Does anyone know of other investing quizzes like this quiz?
