COD addressing S5 matchmaking
This stinks. You don’t have to ruin BO7’s matchmaking to figure out what you’re doing with your game.

Career Mode has had 9 available bench players for 2 years. In real life, a bench size can be as big as 15. We’re still only have 7 available and I’d like to have more options depending on the match.
From every online angle (Twitter, Reddit, IG reels and even Facebook), there’s a buzz around revisiting games like FIFA 17 and FIFA 14, games that were deservedly slandered and criticised heavily during their relative active life cycles but are now free of all judgement and glazed for immersive gameplay and atmosphere.
To start, yes, the newer games lack inspiration and innovation and most features are there to suck up your time unnecessarily or drain your wallet. Cool, that’s established but why are people forgetting what we also had between, specifically, FIFA 14 - 17??? Most of you despised how the gameplay felt because it was the beginning of the end of full manual control. The whole “holding one CDM” thing started with the Frostbite engine in FIFA 17 because manual defending started to lose all respect for your input. On this very subreddit, give “FIFA 17 defending” a search to back up this claim. Another thing is the attacking AI claims, stating that it was better back then. No one could create because the defending AI and most especially the fullbacks could track each every manual and automatic run in the game.
There was no semblance of realism in that game. You could chain ridiculous skill moves without delay (just like you can do now) with less input fatigue than you could today. You could pop a shot from weird angles and score because the keepers had limited animations. They stripped back the keeper animations specifically from FIFA 17 that they introduced in FIFA 15 (see the FIFA 15’s goalkeeper trailer) because in FIFA 16, everyone complained that they were too good. Don’t even get me started on Career Mode between these titles, it was not up-to-scratch and super buggy in parts.
So much more can be said about how much those games lacked in multiple areas. But this overwhelmingly positive nostalgia for games without any critiques for that time period is unwarranted and uninformed.
The introduction of a fully customisable player in terms of playstyles is a welcome change this year but my God, EA, you need to make the process easier and faster. I don’t want to come in and out of the Evo tab every time I apply just one. A select all 3 golds and 8 bases screen would suffice.
One of the best aspects of Carti’s music, released and unreleased, is his ability to surround the main vocals with ridiculously good ad-libs. Some of my favourite songs like U Kan Do it Too, RIP Fredo, etc, his vocals are everywhere and there’s no space in the tracks. But in listening to his last two features on Ken’s albums, it’s apparent that with this deep-voice angle he’s been parading for the last couple years, they seemingly don’t exist as much anymore. I went back to listen to listen to all of Music, it seems he’s filling in Swamp Izzo to do that for him. Maybe it works for others, but I can’t help but feel it doesn’t feel like I’m listening to Carti. As respectfully as I can put it, maybe a a watered down version of Future.
I understand the vocal ability may not be there anymore, I mean he’s strained his voice for years with the high-octave vocal inflections he did for WLR and all the leaks in that era but on the recently released stuff, it’s far too rare
Keep in mind, this is all on Xbox for putting their eggs in one basket. But at the same time, you have to be unbiased. As much as I love aspects of BO7, a part of me understands why most people didn’t even bother buying the game. What with the 2nd back-to-back game in 4 years, the nostalgia bait in every corner and use of AI (for cosmetics only), it’s very hard to fight a car as to why someone would pay full price for a game that doesn’t do a lot of new things.
I’ve had more time as I’m older to watch more football, especially this World Cup. Not that it matters much to FC/FIFA as a game, but seeing how often crossing is utilised as an attacking method is so contrasting to what FC plays like.
How often in higher divisions or Champs do you see someone using wide players to deliver good whippage into the box? Feel like every attacking scenario is the same 2 plays. 1, pass to striker and trigger a run on the wing for a first time through ball into a finesse. 2, drive down the byline, cut back, drill across goal. That second option, I kid you not, has been the only viable option since Hypermotion was introduced. Something about the midfielders and central defender not being coded well enough to track an attacker’s run is jarring.
Crossing needs a comeback, to the strengths of FIFA 14/15 days. I’m not asking for every cross to be a guaranteed goal but what I am asking is that it becomes as viable an option as the aforementioned two options. If playstyles are still sticking around next title, make Whipped Pass better. It doesn’t do enough in its current state. Can you imagine being able to pull off an early low or regular cross to your striker in behind a defensive line? Because you can’t do that now.
edit: almost forgot to mention, headers themselves need a fine tune for accuracy. For all the animations in this game, there’s a max of 10 heading animations. None of the attacking ones, even with the Precision Header playstyle, give any accuracy to headed attempts.
Although we’ve heard nothing concrete and official for the WZ situation for the next title, it’s ok to assume that
it will persist. One thing Raven and co-developers really need to reconsider is playing into nostalgia.
This is probably a biased take because a lot of people seem to enjoy the same rotating cycle of maps we’ve had in the yesteryears return for the 2nd and third times. What really killed it for me was the return of Fortunes Keep because there’s a parallel that can be drawn to the MWII situation. If you cast your mind back to January of 2023, Warzone was in a bad place and it would have been very easy for Raven and IW back then to release Rebirth Island to fill a void of some sort. Instead, we got 2 NEW resurgence experiences in February of that year with Ashika and June with Vondel and they were well received.
Since season 3 of BO6, we have had Verdansk and Fortunes Keep show up again when times looked rough for both Black Ops games. It can be viewed as a panic option Activision has to keep revisiting when numbers don’t look so good. I’d like a brave attempt at something new and solid enough to stand on its own. Though controversial and received with mixed reviews, Havens Hollow exists as a new experience for resurgence and a map like Avalon plays really well, whatever you may think about it.
I can’t put it past any dev studio in the future releasing either one of Rebirth or Fortunes Keep for the billionth time post BO7 just to try and drive numbers up when what the game really needs for the future is fresh and complete experiences. Say what you want about the way Infinity Ward operates, but when their games come out, you hardly ever get the same things twice during their Warzone period.
Almost begs the question: has it been done before in a different capacity or is it brand new? Regardless, it’s the most fun I’ve had on this game this year, and the game has been really fun at points. Took me 1 match to get to grips with it, I stupidly thought unfreezing your teammates had something to do with reviving them like zombies or WZ but once I figured it out, it’s legit chaos!
It’s probably a silly proposition but I feel like maybe the overclocks that we have for field upgrades, streaks and tacticals and lethals could also be applied to perks.
I wanna preface this by saying this would require reworking the hell out of the current perk system and possibly stripping back color perk specialties but it would be an interesting trade. Basically the Pro Perks for MW2 2009 but with 2 choices. You’d essentially have to level up every perk, forcing some variety and it could make for some interesting choices. Imagine 2 overclocks for something like Fast Hands, one for a flat 50% increase to all full auto and semi auto weapons and another for faster deployment of field upgrades and nades (without having to go triple green for that perk selection bonus).
I understand the perk specialty vision for BO6, I just don’t understand it for BO7.
We haven’t had a FIFA Street iteration since 2012, I almost had to run my eyes and see it wasn’t a mistake. 14 years without one of the most memorable expansion/payable DLC in years (I know it was more than that but it’s a way to describe it).
I understand that Volta was a way to integrate that aspect of a street football sim into the full game but that failed horribly and for good reasons too. EA forgot that what makes FIFA Street work is a separate mechanic system from full title to street football. It’s the reason why most of the skill moves you could perform in FS4, you couldn’t do in FIFA 12.
Wonder if there would even be appeal for it. There’s a whole generation of players that have never known such games were commonplace, especially people who picked up the series around FIFA 15 onwards. People my age (mid 20s and up) would probably want to relive said moments again but EA’s thought process behind making said game would be in line for what they have for current titles: monetisation at every angle, neutering the experience FS actually is about.
What do you guys think? Would a FS5 be something to look forward to?
Morning lads. Recently bought a car 4 months ago, a 2016 Note X16. Import bought from a dealer, warranty was only 3 months tho. Like 2 months in, there’s a whistle coming from pushing on the accelerator to get up to speed. That whistle goes away once you’re still on the same speed. Thought nothing of it but did ask around and was generally given the same explanation: the air filter might be dirty but you only got the car and it came fully serviced.
Fast forward to last Monday, the accelerator pedal now feels “heavier”. Getting past 2 revs now takes you near putting the pedal to the floor and getting to 60 km/h used to take 2 seconds, it’s longer now. I had to get AA expertise and take it back to the garage, only for them to put it down to fuel (put Applegreeen petrol in the tank for the first time, usually only Circle K). I’ve inquired further and it’s clear that it might be the air intake system. Thing is I don’t know fully what that would cost. Not even fully sure if that’s the actual problem itself.
Any advice? I’m not too well versed in any issues outside what may appear as a warning light, and this isn’t one of them
24M here. Been on and off the gym since I was 18 but in the last 8 months, been serious with my routine. I’ve tried everything for as long as it stuck. Bulking + weights, cutting + cardio, and a myriad of diets. I’ve been fluctuating between the same 10kg range for the last 6 years but from 3 years ago to present day, that range is now 5kg.
Even at my lowest weight, my appearance isn’t “lean”. I still have the big chested features I’ve trying so hard to get rid of (might be rib-cage size related) and a passing comment from around Christmas time that I appeared as stocky, a period where I was eating the least amount of calories I could maintain, has stuck with me.
Is this just how it is? Do I forget trying to appear as lean as possible and just look healthy while feeling bigger? Or is there another way (fast track ways like weight loss pills exempt)?
