Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help with my MSI GF65 Thin 10UE (Intel Core i7-10750H). I’m trying to move my tuning from software to BIOS due to a virtualization conflict.

The Background:

I’ve been using ThrottleStop to manage high temps. An undervolt combined with tweaked power limits gave me a 15-25°C drop. However, I now need Virtualization enabled for my work, which triggers Windows VBS/Core Isolation and completely locks ThrottleStop/software-based undervolting.

What I’m trying to achieve in the Advanced BIOS:

Since I can't use software anymore, I need to hardcode these settings into the BIOS:

  1. Undervolting: I need to find where the Core/Cache Voltage Offset settings actually work. In my previous attempts, changes didn't show up in HWInfo64 (remained at 0.000V).
  2. Power Limits ($PL1$ & $PL2$): I want to manually set the Long Duration ($PL1$) and Short Duration ($PL2$) power limits. The default boost behavior pushes the temps too high for the GF65's cooling solution, so I need to cap them to sustainable levels.

What I need help with:

  • The Path: Where exactly are the $PL1$ and $PL2$ settings located in the MSI Advanced BIOS? (I have unlocked the menu using the 4-key shortcut).
  • Overriding the EC: How can I ensure the BIOS power limits override the Embedded Controller (EC) default values?
  • The "Lock" Settings: Are there specific options like "Overclocking Lock" or "CFG Lock" that I must disable to allow the BIOS to accept my manual Voltage and Power Limit values?
  • HWInfo Validation: If anyone has done this on a GF65 Thin, did you have to do anything specific to get the BIOS offset to actually show up in monitoring tools?

I’m attaching screenshots of my stable ThrottleStop profile (Voltage and Power Limits) and my current BIOS screens.

Any help or a "roadmap" for the Advanced BIOS settings would be greatly appreciated!
