Pleasantville, nice to visit, but how would you get out of town?

I watched this again this week, and it really spoke to me of the 1960s. Though they still dressed the same, it was for about waking up.

Tippi Hedren 96 years old!

The star of "The Birds" , loved it. Whose career was foiled by Alfred Hitchcock. He punished her so she could not work, because he wanted her. She was under contract, he would not release her and by the time it finished, she was considered too old for leading roles. Her legacy? Melanie Griffith (Working Girl) and Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey). Also she created a sanctuary for big cats, lions. She used her power to help Vietnamese women coming to US after the War. She got them training for nails because one woman told Tippi she loved her finger nails. She is really the reason so many Vietnamese women own and operate nail salons.

Chinatown - Trailer

The 1970s saw a rise in creative freedom, and distinctive directors. It was the rise of the blockbuster with Jaws. Star Wars, and The Godfather. Movies with strong visual aspects, moral questions or messages and the graduates from film school. Francis Ford Coppola, Robert Altman, Martin Scorese. The happy ending was replace but stark depictions of reality. What were your favorite films. Mine of course were Chinatown and Jaws. I Loved Star Wars too, who didn't?

55 years ago, "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke," first aired on national television on July 8, 1971. The commercial turned out to be a massive hit for Coca Cola and today it’s still one of the greatest if not the greatest commercial for a soft drink. Have a Coke and a smile:)
